Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo
Advantages: It smells nice enough.
Disadvantages: This thick shampoo makes roots feel greasy and heavy, and I didn't get much shine from it either.
The Soap & Glory range has a huge following, people love these products and just before Christmas it seemed everyone was waiting for Boots to put THAT gift set on offer. You know the one, the one that was better-than-half-price and the city centre was crowded with women carrying around bold pink bags crammed full of S&G goodies. My Mum took the easier route, buying mine online in the early hours of the morning so that I could have one on Christmas Day. I'm still working my way through these products, but the one I finished using recently was the Glad Hair Day shampoo.
The Glad Hair Day shampoo comes in a 250ml tube with the standard S&G design of pink, black & white pic of a woman, and small boxes of quirky text everywhere. The Glad Hair Day shampoo is obviously a name play on Good Hair Day (GHD), and it's quite bold of Soap & Glory to associate itself with such a high end brand like GHD. The shampoo is a daily 'super' shampoo aimed at giving hair a shiny and glossy finish. I read that it contains Raspberry Fruit Vinegar, Panthenol, Phytantriol and... Glycerin. My heart almost stopped when I read that it contained Glycerin as whenever I see that word I immediately think 'grease.' I have used various products in the past with Glycerin as a main ingredient and, especially when it comes to skin care, I always think it leaves an awful greasy finish and I think of oilyness and chip shop fat. This is not what I was wanting to put on my hair, you see have to wash my hair every single day. I don't particularly enjoy doing this, in fact I'd love to go a day without washing my hair, but my hair is fine and the roots are insanely greasy and oily. I can wash my hair on a morning and by the evening it's ready for another wash, it drives me round the bend but to help it I tend to stick to shampoo's that aren't moisturising and heavy, and conditioners for the ends of my hair which are light. Despite my concerns before I even used Glad Hair Day, I still decided to give it a go as it does state 'For All Hair Types' so greasy must come under that!
The shampoo itself does smell lovely, it definitely has that S&G scent about it and you can't say that it doesn't smell strong enough because I can smell it on my hair afterwards. It's a pink shampoo, not much of a surprise there, and it is quite thick. So thick that again I was worried as I didn't think this would help my rather thin and fly-away hair. It does take quite a while to lather up this shampoo, and I did have to use a higher amount than I normally would with a shampoo and so this 250ml bottle didn't actually last me very long at all. I also found it quite hard to rinse out as it was so thick it did feel like it was clinging to my hair.
I was right to be concerned about this shampoo as after my hair has dried my roots feel heavy and have no volume to them. They also appear to be rather greasy already, and after having only just washed my hair this was a big disappointment. The roots of my hair did feel thicker and did have some shine to them, but not as much shine as I was expecting from this 'ultra-shine super shampoo' and I do get more shine from a regular shampoo! I did end up using the rest of the bottle, it didn't last long at all, as I couldn't bear to waste it but I did hate the feeling it had on my roots and how weighed down it made my hair feel. I was astonished to find this shampoo normally sells at £5.22 (thought Boots always have offers on the S&G range!) and I wouldn't buy it, especially at that price! This is probably a good shampoo for someone with dry hair, but for people with normal to oily roots I would say avoid, as it does make your roots feel heavy and you certainly won't have any bounce to your hair. A disappointing product from Soap & Glory.
Summary: A disappointing product in the S&G range.
