~*~ Spoilt! ~*~
My mum knows how much I love Soap & Glory's range of skincare products and along with lots of other presents and a huge S&G gift set she also bought me a few 250ml tubes of the glad hair day shampoo & conditioner as stocking fillers - best mum ever! This review is of the shampoo, but I will also be reviewing the conditioner at some point.
~*~ Price ~*~
As I said above, I relieved this as a gift so didn't purchase it myself, but I am aware that the retail price is around a fiver, which I think is extremely overpriced for a reasonably small tube of shampoo and its definitely not the best value for money, which is why I'd never tried it before - I'd seen it around but the price had always put me off.
~*~ Packaging ~*~
The packaging is quite unusual as the shampoo comes on a squeezey tube rather than an average shampoo bottle. I actually like the design though as the tube is easy to grip with wet hands and easy to squeeze too. The tube has got the usual, instantly recognisable S&G colour scheme - bright pink with a black and white picture of a smiling, vintage looking woman on the front as well as loads of information about the product.
The packaging is really bright and girly and it makes a nice change from a generic looking bottle of shampoo. The only disadvantage about the packaging though is that I can't take this to the gym with me for when I have a shower after working out because the flip lid pops open if the bottle is squeezed hard so it would make a real mess in my gym bag if something fell on top of it.
~*~ Manufacturer Claims ~*~
Soap and Glory describe this as a shampoo which is formulated to gloss, strengthen, repair and smooth hair. There's lots of interesting ingredients in it including raspberry fruit vinegar which apparently enhances shine as well as vitamin b5 which strengthens the hair and lots more nourishing ingredients. S&G say that this is paraben free, has a 'no build up formula' and they say that it has a fruity fresh fragrance.
~*~ My Opinion ~*~
I'd been wanting to try this shampoo for absolutely ages but wasn't sure if it would be worth the price having read mixed reviews of it on beauty blogs. I was really pleased to receive a few tubes of it as a gift, as I doubt that I'd of gotten around to trying it if I hadn't. The first thing that I like about the shampoo is the squeezey tube, which is a handy size and a lot more practical than a big, bulky shampoo bottle.
The first time that I opened the tube of shampoo I must of sat sniffing it for about five minutes - I love the scent!! It's just as S&g describe - sweet, floral, girly and fruity. It has a kind of perfumed fragrance which I like, although the scent is not quite as clean smelling or refreshing as my usual shampoo. The consistency is a little different to most of the other shampoos that I have as rather being a lotion kind of shampoo it is quite a thick, clear gel.
Although pretty thick, the shampoo spreads over my hair well. I've got long, thick hair and find that I need at least two large blobs to get full coverage and as a result I've already used half of one of my tubes of it in a week (I wash my hair 4 times a week). The shampoo lathers well and the fruity smell fills the bathroom as I sit relaxing while it soaks into my hair for a minute or so. As soon as I've washed it out my hair feels nice and clean as well as a little smoother and softer, but there's not a drastic improvement and I have had the same effects from a much cheaper shampoo. The smell doesn't linger for very long either, despite that I use the conditioner as well.
~*~ Overall ~*~
A gorgeous smelling shampoo, but it's very overpriced and there are much cheaper shampoos available which have the same effect on my hair. I personally wouldn't buy this and I'm glad that I received my bottles of it as a gift.
3 out of 5 stars.
