Advantages: Smells nice, lovely product
Disadvantages: Considerable amount of my hair came out
Another one of my Boots Christmas Treat Minis, I picked up this Hair Supply tonight when I had my shower.
The packaging is standard Soap & Glory retro, cutesy imaging with a transparent tube covered with the big main image, of a supposed retro celebrity. The mini size makes it 50 ml.
Now I'm not normally a big conditioner user, and the fact that it's packaging and marketed differently as a 'hair mask' made it more appealing to me, although it's used in the same way as a conditioner. The instructions say to work in a handful and then leave for a minute, or for a more intensive weekly treatment, 3-4 minutes.
My hair is quite long, being shoulder length, but no way did I intend to use a whole handful. Maybe they tested it on pixies with really long hair or something, because there's no way it makes sense to put that much conditioner on. Not to mention that the small opening of the squeezy tube and the thinness is came out at, it would have taken me forever to get that much out. I used a much smaller amount and it still felt like a lot (because of the quality).
It's not really thin as such, it just looks more concentrated and the packaging is designed so you can't get tons out without effort (again I would say this is the fault of the instructions as I mentioned in my Soap and Glory Shower Gel review). It smells as luxurious and slightly fruity as the rest of the range.
I followed the rest of the instructions to the letter and rinsed it out. After this I was shocked to see how much of my hair was falling out (this being the only part of my regular showering routine that had changed, I can only assume Hair Supply is responsible). My hair, though it's thick and a bit wavy, does have the tendency to drop a few strands, but nothing like this much. I was slightly concerned, but it wasn't enough to make me concerned I was going bald or anything!
When it came to combing my (wet) hair, no more hair came out which was a relief! I did find that the comb glided through a lot more easily and there was only one knot. My hair does feel a lot smoother and glossier than normal.
Overall, I would say this product is only let down by the stupid instructions and that fact that some of my hair came out!
Edited to add: Next day, my hair felt greasy but didn't look greasy. It did however feel thick in my hair and was just generally unpleasant, even with the small amount I used. I won't be buying this again.
Summary: Depends on your hair type
