Advantages: cheap and amazingly wonderful colours
Disadvantages: well.. they don't stay in your hair!
I have gone on a bit of as review binge today, and really should try and make it out the house and get some christmas shopping done, but when i saw these hair dyes had no reviews i havd to jump in and pop in my tuppence worth.
I have been a punk / grunger since i was 13 and have subsequently had my hair all the colours of the rainbow. Pink, green, red... you name it i had it done at one point or another. For better or worse, i have been grounded by work and i now stick with reliable black. Still awesome, but suitable for the office.
Now, in all the years of bleaching my hair to death and popping on a lovely funky colour, i have never managed to find a decent hairdye from stargazer. Honestly, stargazer are one of the best companies in the marketplace for alternative make up products. From the glitter stars to the UV florescent pressed powders, i love every little thing they do, but the hairdye just doesn't do it for me.
Packaging
~~~~~~~~~~
As is the stargazer style, i don't think the packaging has ever changed on the hairdye! In a tall slim box, fully coloured with the colour of the dye and with a picture of the hair colour in the center. The writing on the box is all in white.
At the time of writing, stargazer offer 26 different fantastic colours. To put the colourant on you hair it needs to be blonde or bleached as it doesn't even seem to make a dent on darker hair. The colourant is 'semi-perminant', but the length of time it lasts will depend on your hair condition and style, alongside the frequency of washing. A pair of gloves is provided to stop you staining your hands.
The product
~~~~~~~~
Of the 26 wonderful looking colours, i have tried the pink, green and blue. On each application i left the dye on a little longer than the maximum and had left over a week after bleaching to make sure there would be no chemical reactions (i could tell you a funny story with a chemical reaction and black hair turning bright ginger, but it wouldn't be fair to gossip :p)
On each occasion, the dye job was patchy and inconsistent. As a grunger you can get away with this, but the colour fades very very quickly when it does stick, and i have never seen it last more than 2 washes. for £4, i understand not to expect masses, but you still want a colour which will last.
I was really disappointed with this, as i have come to expect a fantastic standard from stargazer. The range of colours is amazing and just what i wanted, but whether it was the colours or my hair, i just couldn't get them to work for me. Dispite trying several colours on several different occasions.
The range of colours are as follows;

where to buy?
~~~~~~~~~
If i haven't put you off too much (!) you can buy the full range of stargazer hairdyes from the website for £4 each at http://www.stargazer-products.com/store.php?store= grunge&product_id=165. You will also find them commonly at alternative markets or goth areas such as Camden, London. Just make sure you arn't conned on the price, because sometimes these aforementioned places try their luck with really high prices. You can also buy the dyes from ebay.
Overall
~~~~~~
Not sure if it was because of my hair or the products, but i was really disappointed with the stargazer hairdyes, after having such high hopes about the range of colours. The colour was short lasting, rubbed onto clothes and was patchy at best. I found the 'directions' alternative hair colours about 100x better and longer lasting. All in all, a thumbs down to stargazer with this one. You would be better off with spray in colour or hair mascara.
However, this is just me. It does work for others im sure or it wouldn't ever sell! maybe you would have better luck using the stargazer peroxide before? Good luck and happy rockin' :D
Summary: Go with directions instead for better, longer lasting colour.
