I bought Stargazer hair dye in 'Golden Flame' which I visaged- especially from the bright red box that the dye is packaged in that it would be a gorgeous, rich and bright colour that would really catch peoples eyes- I love to have exciting new hair colours once in a while.

My first application resulted in hardly any colour showing up at all, I had medium brown coloured hair and the directions on the box did suggest that you can use the dye on non bleached hair so I went ahead and did it as normal. I left the dye on for around 20 minutes as instructed as I only have shoulder length hair and my hair is also very fine so usually doesn't need a lot of dye and doesn't need to be left on for vast amounts of time as my hair usually absorbs the colour quite well.

However when I washed it out I could hardly see a difference in the colour and the bath that I washed my hair out in did look like someone had been murdered in it... I put this down to my own stupidity and decided to buy another pack as they were only £4 after all and tried again.

This time I pre-bleached my hair which amused me greatly as I had also imagined myself with blond hair... I then put the red dye on again and left it for a little longer this time- more like 25-30 minutes. I washed the colour out and again it looked as if someone had been butchered in my bath.. Nevertheless I conditioned my hair and dried it as normal and was not overally impressed by the success, it was rather patchy even though I though I had put the dye on evenly (thinking about it now, the applicator nozzle on the dye bottle was pretty dodgy so that was probably the reason).

It then went from bad to worse when I had washed it a few times and the patchiness stood out even more and the shine to the colour had completely diminished making it seem very brassy and fake and basically really ugly! The red had faded from a more deep, rich red to a very orangey red which eventually faded to BRIGHT ginger.

I can safely say that I won't be using this dye again and if you want a bright red coloured dye I think that Schwarzkopf's XXL live colour range is better- as I have used 'Red Passion' which gave me the colour I wanted! (You can read my review on this dye in my reviews)
