**Note: Some wording here is the same as in my other hair dye reviews because the information is just as relevant for this hair dye as those. There is specific information about Stargazer hair dye below.**
I've tried four brands of bright hair dye, each several times over the last decade, and would place them thus:
Effectiveness: 1) Special Effects 2) La Riche Directions 3) Manic Panic 4) Stargazer
Colour Vibrancy: 1) Special Effects 2) Manic Panic 3) La Riche Directions 4) Stargazer
Colour Duration: 1) La Riche Directions 2) Special Effects 3) Manic Panic 4) Stargazer
Price: 1) Stargazer (there's a reason) 2) La Riche Directions 3) Manic Panic 4) Special Effects

Right, I'm going to get the positives out of the way first, but make no mistake, this hair dye gets a one star rating despite all these apparent positives because it just doesn't do what it says it will do.
1) There are 26 colours to choose from. So, you know, a good range there.
2) They come with gloves, which most alternative hair dyes don't.
3) They're darn cheap, and you can get them pretty much in every Hot Topic or alt. clothing store.
Still, despite those things...
IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY ON MOST PEOPLE'S HAIR.
That's not to say that it won't work at all on yours, but I know a lot of people who dye their hair crazy beautiful colours, and not a single one of them would recommend this as either a hair dye that gives you a great colour or one that lasts the way it says it does. Basically, there are much much better hair dyes out there, and when you consider the fact that you're saving tens, maybe hundreds of pounds, by dying your hair at home yourself, I think it's justifiable to splash out a little and get a £10 bottle of Special Effects or instead of a cheap £3 bottle of this rubbish?
This hair dye will stain your bathroom considerably more than it will stain your hair. And if the hair dye does take to your hair, what you will end up with are piles of stained clothes around the collar, and the hair colour itself will just fade to a really dingy dull version of what it's supposed to be.
I have bought Stargazer hair dye several times, naively convinced that I just had a bad batch, but every single time it did exactly what I described above. And I had bleached hair every time - but bright blue turned to grubby lilac, bright pink turned to grubby lilac, and bright green turned to grubby grey, within a few days. You'll think it's a really good deal for the price, but every time it will let you down. Definitely one to avoid!
Summary: Check out Manic Panic or Special Effects if you really want a beautiful crazy colour.
