Advantages: Affordable

Disadvantages: Didn't cut down on my frizz

Having long curly hair for a good portion of my 27 years of life it feels like I've spent an equal amount of that time looking for products that might tame the curls and frizz with the hopes of getting that smooth defined look that so many others with curly hair seem to achieve. Alongside shampoo and conditioning products I've also tried many different serums and "leave in" products, Nicky Clarke and John Frieda to name a few, another was Sunsilk Frizz Control.

Nowadays the product is presented in a 200ml green coloured bottle with a pull up cap much like you get on bottled water with the sports caps, formally it came in a white & aqua coloured bottle but the dispensing method was the same. It's not the best design for packaging as it can leave the bottle quite messy and it's never easy to get the last remnants out of the bottle even if the rest of it is quite easy to dispense. The cream itself is an off white colour and has a mildly fruity scent to it which stays in the hair after it's dry.

Designed to be applied to wet hair after it's been shampooed and conditioned the cream is quite thick in it's consistency but applies easily to the hair, to get the best, most even application it's best to run your fingers repeatedly through the wet hair, as you apply it the product seems to smooth the hair making it feel silky. The amount of product needed will vary depending on how long and thick your hair is, I have quite thick hair which comes down below my shoulders so the traditional "pea sized" blob just won't be enough, I would usually use twice that amount and make sure I worked it well into the hair. You could use the cream on dry hair but I can imagine all that would achieve is greasy lank hair rather than shining silky curls.

You can leave your hair to dry naturally or use a blow dryer, depending on your usual technique, I prefer to leave my hair to dry naturally as that seems to cut down any frizz for me but on occasions when I have had to blow dry it I've found that the cream doesn't really benefit the hair, you'd imagine that as it was designed to cut down on frizz that you would see a marked difference but I still had the same level of puffy, frizziness that I did without using the cream, the only difference was in the smell of my hair. The same results came from leaving my hair to dry naturally, while my hair had a little extra definition as a result of the natural drying I never really felt that there was any improvement in it's overall look or feel as a result of using the cream. When using the cream I did feel like my hair became dirty quicker than usual and I was washing my hair much more regularly as a result, although it never felt heavy or greasy while wearing it.

I was never overly impressed with the product, and while I've heard of others having success with it, it simply didn't suit my hair so I wouldn't recommend it. Yes it is affordable costing in the region of £2.50, depending on where you shop, for a 200ml bottle, but what's the point in an affordable product if it doesn't do its job.

Summary: Didn't work for me so not recommended
