Advantages: Leaves hair glossy, great price, smell

Disadvantages: Didn't affect the colour of my hair

Why I chose this product
************************
I only came across this shampoo when my mum bought it after it was on offer at our local supermarket. I'd seen the product around but had never really considered it as I hadn't liked some of the other Sunsilk Shampoos that I'd tried. For this reason, I was a bit sceptical before trying it, however I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised.

The Product
***************
Sunsilk Deeply Brunette comes as both a shampoo and conditioner and can be purchased either as 200ml or the slightly bigger 350ml size. The packaging is brown, to reinforce that it is meant for brown hair and is more of a tube than a bottle, making it easier to squeeze the shampoo out in the correct amount, without spilling any. I bought the 350ml size and although this is quite large, its compact shape makes it easier to store than some of the more obscure shaped bottles. Another advantage of the bigger size is that it lasts longer and one tube lasts me at least 2-3 months.

The shampoo itself is quite runny so you don't need loads to ensure that your hair lathers up properly. The directions on the back of the tube don't suggest anything out of the ordinary and simply tell you to massage the shampoo into your wet hair and then rinse out. If you normally do two shampoos, I'd recommend only doing one, as I found that my hair lathered up really easily on the first shampoo, and I needed a lot more conditioner after two shampoos as it seemed to dry my hair out a bit. The instructions recommend that you use the deeply brunette conditioner at the same time as the shampoo, however I have never noticed a difference whether I use this conditioner or another one.

One thing that I really liked about this shampoo was the smell, which is really fruity and reminds me of the products used in my local hair salon. This fragrance stays on your hair after drying and my friends often comment on how nice my hair smells after using this shampoo.

The colour of the product wasn't so impressive as it is a dark brown that almost resembles hair dye! Most of the time I wash my hair in the shower, however the one time that I used this shampoo when washing in the sink I spent the next half an hour making sure that the brown stains from the product were out of the sink! Saying this however, the brown colour makes you feel as if the shampoo really is intended for brunette hair and who knows, maybe it has to be brown for the product to work on brunette hair.

What it is meant to do
***********************
According to the back of the tube, Deeply Brunette will 'reveal the shimmering multi-tones of your hair' without 'adding or depositing colour'.

My experience of this shampoo
***************************
Although I tried very hard to see the brunette tones that had been brought out in my hair, unfortunately this shampoo made no difference to the colour. What it did do, however, was make my hair really shiny and after the first use of this shampoo quite a few people at work commented on the good condition of my hair. Maybe it would have different resullts on other shades of brown as my colour is very dark so any changes may not be very noticeable, however I find it very hard to believe how something that you wash out straight after you put it onto your hair can affect the colour. On the other hand, I would recommend this shampoo for brunettes who simply want shiny and glossy hair.

Price
*********
I paid about £1.50 for this shampoo the last time I bought it, however as Sunsilk is a popular brand, there are frequently offers such as buy one get one free to benefit from in different stores. I definitely think that this product is good value for money as although it doesn't really help your colour, the shiny finish and gorgeous smell that it leaves your hair with is almost salon quality.

Overall I would recommend this product to brunettes as long as you aren't expecting your colour to radically change. I have continued to use this product from the first time I tried it and have never found a shampoo that gives the same results for such a good price!

Summary: A good buy
