“ Brand: Sunsilk / Type: Conditioner „
Sunsilk is a haircare brand under the Unilever company. They offer various shampoo and conditioners for different hair types and colours.
~~~Product and Range~~~
The Silky and Straight range from Sunsilk includes a shampoo and conditioner which compliment each other. This range is suited to those with hair which isn't straight nor curly..so if you are an inbetweeny then this may be for you!
The shampoo contains satin proteins which smooth out the appearance and texture of your hair to leave it shiny and sleek from root to tip. It can be used alone or alongside the conditioner for ultimate effect.
The shampoo is housed in a rather dull, purple tube. The tub is made of squidgy plastic and a clear lid is at the bottom. The tube can be identified by the brand and product name on the front. The back includes the product blurb, ingredients etc.
The tube can be recycled and should be used up within 12months of opening.
Like any other shampoo, wash your hair and apply a blob of shampoo. Work up into a lather and rinse off. Repeat if required and follow up with the conditioner.
~~~Availability and Price~~~
The tube is 200ml. The Sunsilk range seems to be quite difficult to get hold of now. I purchased 2 tubes for £1.00 in Morrisons last month.
My hair is long and tends to get rather frizzy. I like to let my hair dry naturally and never really have the time nor the patience to straighten it everyday. So to combat this issue, I need something that will work on my hair as I wash it. I like to use intensive conditioners every week but for every second day use, I use shampoo and conditioner. I have tried various brands from cheaper options such as Herbal Essences to more expensive options including Philosophy. I have a few key needs which include a shampoo having a pleasant smell, quick to lather and leave my hair clean and soft.
Whilst I normally choose to use matching shampoo and conditioners, Morrisons didn't have the conditioner in stock so I found myself with 2 tubes of Silky and Straight Shampoo. Priced at £1.00 for both, I believed this to be quite a bargain but I now think they were clearing surplus stock! The tube is nothing pretty to look at but it does the job and the shampoo is easily dispensed with a gentle squeeze.
The shampoo itself is white and quite thick..thicker than most shampoos I have used but not quite as thick as a conditioner. The scent is quite strong but doesn't resemble anything in particular except perhaps a bit soapy and clean. I ensure my hair is fully soaked through under the shower and squeeze a good sized blob onto the palm of my hand and then onto my hair. The shampoo held together well and clung to my hair rather than running down the plug hole. I was able to work the shampoo through my hair with ease as it lathered up extremely well. Without needing to use any additional water, a soft yet thick and foamy mass of lather formed on my hair.
I massaged the shampoo deep into my roots and it felt refreshing and cleansing. I was impressed with the softness of the lather and the smell was fresh and strong. I must admit that it took a little bit longer me to get all the lather washed out from my hair. I swished it out under the water and my fingers swept through my hair with ease. I usually would follow with a conditioner but the first time I used this, I didn't have any close by and have decided not to use a conditioner due to the results.
If I don't use a conditioner, 10mins after hopping out the shower results in frizzy and dry hair. After using only this shampoo, I waited for the dreaded frizz and waited...thankfully it didn't come! My hair dryed fairly straight and was easy to brush through due to the softness. Best of all, my hair felt ultimately nourished and perfectly smoothed out. This happens everytime I use it and I am impressed at how well it actually performs without the need of a conditioner.
The main purpose of a shampoo is to cleanse hair and I find Silky and Straight works well in this aspect. I suffer from a dry scalp which often results in slightly icky hair should I go longer than 48hours between washes. This shampoo thorougly cleaned my hair leaving behind a fresh but not overbearing scent. My hair had a light shine and a healthy appearance. Soft and fresh hair for longer. With my hair being so long, just needing one product instead of two saves me time and money!
Overall I would recommend this shampoo for those with slightly frizzy hair as it helps to smooth it out. If you want a simple, non fruity or sweet shampoo for regular use then this is ideal. A little goes quite a long way due to the thickness making it excellent value for money overall. Have fun trying to locate a tube though!

I use Sunsilk shampoo and conditioner sometimes because even though it's not the best brand available it's quite often the cheapest and will usually do a half decent job when I'm trying to save my pennies.
This Silky & Straight Conditioner is a bit of a weird one because it works brill at untangling my hair and leaving it nice and soft, but it can make my hair look very greasy not long after I've used it. This doesn't always happen but I hate the feel and look of greasy hair so even though this is a pretty good conditioner, I don't buy this specific one all that often.
It comes in a purple tube and the conditioner is easy to squeeze out, it's quite thick and feels creamy in my fingers. It's easy to spread through my hair and as soon as you put it on you can start feeling your hair getting softer like when you use the magic conditioner out of a box of hair dye.
Because of the greasy feel it can leave on your hair I recommend you keep it well away from your roots and try to just smooth it through the length of your hair.
For the best results you should leave it on your hair for a couple of minutes, this will give the conditioner time to work and you can definitely tell the difference from when you leave it on and when you rinse the conditioner straight off.
It's quite easy to rinse off, I have noticed Sunsilk conditioners take a bit longer than other brands to rinse away but this isn't a problem and once all the conditioner is out my hair feels lovely and soft but not that soft that it's impossibly to style properly.
I love how easy it is to brush my hair after I've used this conditioner, the brush flies through and it's obvious that the conditioner has got rid of every single tangle in my hair. If it wasn't for the greasiness it causes sometimes I'd deffo use this conditioner all the time because for the price it does a brilliant job and is lovely to use. It leaves my hair feeling in wicked condition and gives my hair a lovely shine for ages after using it.
Recommended..... but watch out for the greasiness!!!
To be honest I thought Id wrote a review on this product ages ago but looking back I think I must have wrote about the matching shampoo so today I thought Id finally write about this product "Sunsilk Silky Straight Conditioner" which is something that I use quite regularly. I straighten my hair pretty much everyday but in this boiling weather I need a little help to make my hair stay straight for longer and not go frizzy so I always turn to this conditioner as Ive used it a lot in the past and it really does work.
Price: A 200ml Bottle Is Supposed To Be Around £3 But I Buy Mine In Either Poundland Or 99p Stores.
Stockists: Supermarkets, Chemists, Poundland & 99p Store.
For: Making You Hair Feel More Silky & Straight As I Is Said To Contain Pearl Proteins.
One thing that is slightly different about this conditioner is the consistency. Whereas most conditioners Ive tried in the past have been super thick this one is very runny and has a really pearl colour to it to the point where it almost looks shimmery. I guess that is where the silky element comes into it but Ive never had a problem with my hair being proper glittery or shiny (in a ridiculous way) after using this so I reckon its just down to the odd colour. As this is quite runny my advice is be careful when your trying to get some out as if your heavy handed like me then way to much will come out when you squeeze the tube and you don't need very much to cover all your hair. I think the slightly runnier consistency is much better in some ways as you don't need to much to cover your whole hair with ease and it glides through really quickly - about a 50p piece worth of conditioner is usually enough for me in this case and I have very long hair so I reckon one tube of this will last for ages - even longer if your hair is very short.
There's nothing majorly special about this conditioner smell wise - it does smell very nice but nothing spectacular. This does have a very floral scent that's tends to stick around on your hair even when its been dried and styled which for me is a good thing but if you don't like flowery fragrances then step away from the tube! I didn't buy it for the scent anyway so it doesn't bother me that its nothing special.
This conditioner definitely does everything you would assume and more. When Ive used this my hair is easy to brush through, easy to style, smells good and best of all does look much shinier - not glittery and weird but a really subtle shine that just looks as if you have really healthy hair. I definitely think this conditioner makes my hair easier to straighten and certainly makes it stay that way for longer without frizzing so it basically does everything it promises and cleans your hair! What more could a girl want? Hmmm well a pair of Manolo Blahniks would be nice hehe! A great all round conditioner that helps the feel and appearance of your hair whilst helping to fight the frizz. Highly recommended.

This conditioner really seems to make my hair silky and manageable! I have frizzy/curly/thick hair which often becomes dry and flyaway. I often find that conditioners make my hair soft but then after a day or two it returns to its previous state. This keeps my hair soft, but it does make my hair greasy quickly. I tend to find that if i shampoo, condition, shampoo then my hair will become greasy less quickly as the roots will no have lots of conditioner on. I also just condition my roots, because they don't get greasy and they are by far the worst part of my hair with regards to dryness. I would recommend this shampoo because it really seems to work for me and it smells really nice. I think the fact that it makes my hair greasy is just because i have naturally greasy hair, and i think that any conditioner would do the same to be honest.
From the outset I have to admit that I actually bought this sunsilk conditioner by mistake. I have a terrible habit of picking up conditioners when I want shampoo. I have done this on numerous occasion and this indeed was one such episode.
I only realised that I had bought a conditioner when I reached out for it during a shower. I was really cheesed off that I had made this mistake, especially when it has a huge white label along the front with navy lettering spelling out conditioner. Anyway after my initial disappointment, I used my usual shampoo and then decided to give this conditioner a go.
I don't use conditioner on a regular basis. I have very short hair which is very choppy and I find that conditioner makes my hair too limp to style. However I thought that being as I had bought this product, I might as well sample it for consumer purposes.
When flipping open the plastic lid, I was immediatley hit by a soft and pleasing smell. It is by no means refreshing or zingy. I would say it is more soothing and luxurious in it's aroma. It certainly has a slight lavender hint to the scent but not in a over bearing way. The scent gently fills the bathroom with a delicate floral aroma.
I liked the consistency of the conditioner. It was rather thick and had a good quality creamy texture. I found it was bith soothing and stimulating when I applied it to my freshly washed hair. I could certainly feel this conditioner treating my hair. My scalp felt a little tingly but it a cleansing, pleasing way. The conditioner seemed quite gentle but effective and not at all harsh or irritating.
This conditioner by Sunsilk, Is specially developed for hair that is neither straight or curly. It is marketed with the indication that it helps hair that has a kink in it to become straighter, more sleek and shiny. I do indeed have a slight curl to my hair and this is why I had initially sought out this product. (shampoo) Sunsilk claim that they use active satin proteins within their ingredients. It is these satin proteins that cling to the hair shaft and help to maintain a more sleeker healthy shine.
The application instructions for this product are very convenient and easy to follow. You apply the conditioner to the hair, leave on for a couple of minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
As soon as I rinsed my hair, I could feel an improved, healthier texture to my hair. My fingers were sliding through my hair perfectly and my hair and scalp felt fresh and well cleansed.
I have to admit when later brushing my hair, I did initially think that this conditioner had left my hair quite limp and lifeless. However while blow drying and styling I began to notice that the conditioner had provided my hair with a bit more body. My hair was not only left in really good condition but also my hair was much glossier, straighter and had a real salon finish. I was thrilled with the results and was so happy that I had actually bought this product.
This product was on offer in asda for a £1 for a 200ml plastic bottle. The qulaity of this product is exceptional and I would gladly pay more than treble for this product. I am glad I have found this conditioner and I will continue to use it.
I have unruly hair. No I really do! I know a lot of people say it about their hair but the one thing that really is the bain of my life is my hair.
I have just below shoulder length hair that I dye black and have done for years now. I suffer from greasy roots and then my hair goes to frizz and I have dry ends. I spend lots of money trying to get my wayward tresses either suitably curly or smooth and straight and money is rarely an object when it comes to my hair care regime. I mean it's no good spending out on lovely clothes and expensive cosmetics etc just for your hair to let down after-all!
This is why I decided to buy this conditioner in the first place and the fact a friend did recommend this to me!
200ml light lilac tube with a flip-top lid to the bottom of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the tube I'm told that it is Sunsilk Silky & Straight Conditioner 'Smooth & sleek, shiny hair' and that it's for 'Hair that tends to kink or frizz?' and I'm also told that it contains satin proteins and there is a picture on there of a girl with very straight hair! On the back of the tube other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and directions for using it are given, ingredients and the size are stated and contact details for Unilver are given (the manufacturer of the product). It's a nice, simple but informative tube and easy to use etc.
A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given On The Back Of The Tube:
Is your hair stuck between straight & curly, neither one nor the other?
Sunsilk Silky & Straight Conditioner enriched with satin proteins, will help smooth your hair along its whole length, leaving it fabulousy sleek & shiny.
Me Using It:
Well this is incredibly easy to use of course. All you need to do is wash your hair with the shampoo of your choice making sure your hair is thoroughly cleansed and void of any residue at all and then use this afterwards. Of course on the tube we are advised to use the matching shampoo offered from this range and I have done on numerous occasions but to be fair I have found no problem in using this along with any other shampoo I own!
You don't need a lot of this this thick white cream at all. Just a splodge and it really does evenly coat before being absorbed into the hair. It has a lovely sort of natural floral, sweet fragrance to it and it feels smooth as it is applied without being greasy or anything like that.
You then leave it on your hair to take effect for as long as you desire which in my case can be anything from a minute or two, up to an hour (whilst relaxing in the bath) then of course you simply rinse it out which is really easy to do so, then your done...just dry your hair and style as usual!
The smell of this stays on the hair for ages, basically till you you wash your hair the next time which I really appreciate as it's a lovely delicate smell. This stuff also makes hair soft, supple and it feels nourished and strong. I like the way it's a weightless conditioner and I can't feel it in my hair, it just gives softness. I do like the way as well that it really does tame frizz and make styling easier. I wouldn't use this though and expect straight hair if your hair is as naughty as mine but I do find once I style my hair after using this that my hair stays in style for longer.
I think this is a really nice hair conditioner on all levels. It pretty much fullfills it's promise and does make my hair silky and more manageable and at about £1.99 a tube (in all good supermarkets and chemists) I can confidently recommend this product to you with ease. Great for an every day light condition to keep your hair in tip top shape!
