... The packaging is simple - a quite small silver bottle with a flip top lid. You don't need gloves, a cap or any of that other nonsense as the amount of actual dye in the product is minimal. Anyway, I washed my hair as directed, and then applied the product. It smells unusual, sort of fruity but chemically at the same time, although not unpleasant. The colour of the product is a very dark, metallic purpley grey, but when you put it on wet hair and lather it up the suds are a light lilac shade. I left mine on for about...more

Premium Review Superdrugs Effects Temporary Hair Colour: a temporary change (310 words)

At just under a £1 a bottle these dyes are great for anyone who likes to play around with there hair colour but doesnt want to be stuck with a colour for too long. The dye is easy to apply as it comes in a bottle and you get a pair of those plastic gloves you get with every dye. The problem i found with this dye was that it was very watery and ran all over my neck and fore head, it would be a good idea to rub vaseline on all the skin around your hair before using this dye as it does dye anything it comes into contact with, even my bathroom carpet. You are supposed to only leave this on for 5 minutes but i left mine on for quite a bit ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A whole new look in a teeny tiny bottle! (377 words)

Superdrug Colour Effects are an own-brand equivalent of the tried-and-tested Wella 'Shaders and Toners' range - they are a selection of light and dark shades that you can wash in and wash out. Priced at 99p, they're a cheap way to revitalise your look! I have light blonde hair, and if you've read any of my other reviews you'll know that I struggle to eliminate the reddish tones in my hair! So I am always willing to try out anything that may be able to tone this down, and when I noticed that they did a 'Cool Blonde' (8.1) shade, I decided to give it a go. The packaging is simple - a quite small silver bottle with a flip top lid. You don't need gloves, a cap or ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Superdrugs Effects Temporary Hair Colour: 'Dyeing' to look young again ! (1027 words)

I always swore I was going to grow old gracefully, not for me 'Botox' injections, never would I put my 'Boobs' under a surgeon's knife, not in a million years would I resort to a 'Bum' lift and I was going to go grey in a distinguished way!!!!! Sadly the reality is that the wrinkles are rapidly appearing, my boobs are shrinking, my bum is heading south and those niggly little grey strands are poking through and NOT looking very distinguished at all! Thankfully we don't HAVE to resort to drastic measures to correct these imperfections. After all we can use a good foundation to cover those wrinkles, a decent bra filled with those fun squidgy chicken fillet ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Wash In, Not A Wash Out (877 words)

Having boring midbrown hair I like to change it sometimes with temporary colours. One of my favourites is Superdrug Effects temporary colorant. I have used this for a while and the results are good. It costs 99p from Superdrug (Unsurprising given the name). There are several shades in the range, 3 for blondes and 4 for brunettes. It?s a small black bottle with enough for around three-five applications. There is the usual nice-looking woman depicting what your hair colour should look like. It tells you a bit about the product, colour guidelines, warnings, ingredients and contact details. You don?t get any ...  Read the complete review

I am very aware that in the not too distant future, grey hairs are going to make an unwelcome appearance in my life, and from then on, I will be spending a lot of money on hair dye. Therefore, for as long as I can get away with it, I do not want to colour my hair, but sometimes I feel like a change to liven things up a bit - especially if I'm going out for the evening. Superdrug Colour Effect is a very cheap an easy solution to this and I love it. Superdrug Colour Effects is a temporary hair dye and comes in several shades from blonde to dark brown, but my personal colour of choice is Rich Red. This product comes in a small plastic bottle with a flip ...  Read the complete review
