Advantages: Very minimal damage to hair, very fast heating time, durable
Disadvantages: the cost
I have previously written a review on the Futura straightners highly praising them and they are excellent straightners for the price but since then technology has moved on and brought us the magnificent T3s.
I am a bit of a hair straightner guru having tried most of them but I have to say I have made an investment in my T3s and am NEVER EVER EVER going back! I am sooooooo pleased with them I want to shout it from the roof tops.
I had a look online for the cheapest ones as I have never seen them available in the shops. You can buy them with different plate widths depending on your hair length and what you want them to do: 1 inch narrow, 1 3/8 medium or 1 3/4 wide. They now even do a T3 styler which curls or straightens and even a 'wet to straight' straightner. I decided on the medium plates as my hair is quite long but also quite fine and so doesn't take too much straightning.
I ordered them online and after a bit of a delay they arrived. I must say they look very similar to ghds. The plates are made of 100% crushed tourmaline (a gemstone apparantly) which glides through the hair creating LOTS LESS damage. Also they heat up in about 20 seconds (the press on the products says it heats up in 6 seconds but I found it to be a little longer for maximum temperature). The temperature is also adjustable from 170 degrees to 210 degrees.
I have had them now for about 2 years and the range has now expanded, for example, there are now silver colour ones available (mine are black). Each T3 product also comes with a warranty. After the 2 years my T3s are looking as good as the day I bought them and they go everywhere with me eg if I go away for the weekend!
They are around £100 but I cannot express the excellent results I have had. My hair is quite fine and so breaks easily therefore I was apprehensive about such powerful straightners but I had no reason to fear as the T3s are powerful... but gentle. Hair doesn't stick in the plates but glides like air through the plates. They also emit 40% more negative ions which is good for hair apparantly. It also keeps hair straight until the next time you wash it reducing the amount of straightning you do.
I bought mine from salonlines.co.uk which offers a good delivery deal but T3 have their own website that has all the range and advice too at www.t3hair.com
Summary: excellent product worth the price tag
