Advantages: makes hair feel nice and knot free
Disadvantages: not good on wet hair
I first became aware of the tangle teezer a few years ago after reading a review and had to get one for my daughter as she had and still has long hair, I now have one for my youngest too but they are both in need of being binned and new ones bought.
This brush is all plastic but with no handle, it is designed to fit in your hand so you have more control as you are brushing. One side of the brush goes in so it does fit quite nicely in your hand and you have the control as you are brushing.
I have always found this to be an effective brush at getting knotts out but that is not to say that it is 100% pain free.
As both my children have long hair it can get quite knotty at times and difficult to brush. But with the tangle teezer it makes it a lot easier - it is the only brush I have used on my youngest but used lots of others before finding this on my eldest. Just because it works it doesn't mean you can just start at the top and drag the brush down long hair and the knots will be out. You have to take it slow at first and if I come across a knot I still hold the hair above the knot and gently brush it until it disappears but it does come out with just brushing and not having to 'hack' at it.
I have to say I do not like using this brush on wet hair, my youngest always says I hurt her when I brush her hair when it is wet. I think it might be because the hair is long and gets matted together very easy when wet.
My eldest daughter likes these brushes although she hasn't quite got the hang of where to hold her hair when brushing.
The bristles are little plastic spikes and although both brushes I have are not bending outwards the brushes do still work but would probably work a lot better if they weren't so old. When they were first bought the bristles were upright.
I paid about £10 for both brushes (my eldest is on her 2nd) from an ebay shop but they do sell tangle teezers in boots.
I have used my youngest daughters brush at work (as it is mostly in my work bag as we do her hair outside school (once the eldest has been dropped off)) and I find that it moves through my hair fairly easily which did surprise me as my hair gets knotty easily.
So I would recommend these brushes.
Summary: good brush
