Tease out those tangles
Member Name: FridaysArePurple
Advantages: Easy to tease out those tangles
Disadvantages: Expensive! But feels very light and cheap
I remember seeing the designer of this product pitching his ideas and demonstrating this product on Dragons Den a few years ago. I have long hair myself so when he explained to the Dragons that "hitting" hair with a plastic brush can ease out knots much better than trying to tug through tangles with brushes with more rigid teeth, I knew exactly what he was talking about. To combat this problem, the Tangle Teezer hair brush was created. The Dragons found it hard to get excited about the idea, probably because they have about 3 hairs between them and he left the Den without an investment but these brushes are now available at Boots and online so it all worked out well in the end!
I bought my Tangle Teezer at Boots and it is the same bright pink version shown in the picture. I spent a long time in the shop deciding whether I really need one or not as they cost £10.99 which I think is quite expensive. I was hoping to get the purple sparkly version which I have noticed in there before but unfortunately there were only pink ones in stock so that's what I ended up with.
I am very pleased to say that the Tangle Teezer does exactly what it is supposed to. It combs through hair easily (even thick hair) without pulling the roots. I use it at least twice a day so I'm sure I will get my money's worth out of it. So all in all it is a good purchase and I'm pleased with it. However... I can't bring myself to rate it 5 stars because of the following reasons:
1) It doesn't have a handle as it is supposed to be molded to shape your hand comfortably. I am not that keen on this as because my hair is long, I can't reach to brush right to the ends at the back unless I pull all my hair forwards over my shoulder and brush it infront of me. Not a major issue, but just slightly irritating as I don't have to do this when using my normal hair brush with a handle because I can reach fine.
2) As mentioned in the previous point, it is shaped to fit the hand. This is fine if you are right handed but if you are left handed I'm guessing this is going to be a slightly less comfortable fit?!
3) It reminds me of the kind of brush you use on a dog or a horse...
4) It is very light, plasticy and cheep feeling yet it costs £10.99!! So even though it works well and does what it should, I can't help but feel that I have been a little bit ripped off. It's obvious these can be made in China for about 50p so the price is disappointing.
Having said all that, it is still probably the best hairbrush I have ever used and I am glad I have one! So 4 dooyoo stars from me.
Summary: Effective brush but overpriced
