Advantages: 58p a bottle, nice scent, leaves my hair clean and fresh

Disadvantages: It doesn't come in a snazzy bottle, but for that price who cares?

I like to treat myself to a nice expensive bottle of shampoo, but more often than not find myself returning back to the ultra cheap Tesco Apple & Aloe Vera Shampoo because it is such good value for money and perfect for my hair type.

It is a thick gel shampoo which lathers well in my short hair. It takes a little rubbing to get it to bubble up properly, but this is helping ensure my hair and scalp are thoroughly clean because it means I am massaging the shampoo through for longer.

This shampoo smells lovely, it's got a strong apple scent and also smells quite herbal to me. It smells clean and fresh both from the bottle and also while I'm washing my hair. The scent lingers quite well for such a cheap shampoo too, I usually wash my hair at around 7am and I can still smell the apples at lunchtime.

The shampoo is quick and easy to rinse out of my hair and doesn't leave any residue at all. It leaves a nice shine on my hair even when I wash my hair everyday, more expensive shampoos seem to leave my hair looking dull even if they are intended as 'frequent use' shampoo so I was surprised that this cheapo shampoo was so much better in this respect.

Straight after washing my hair feels soft and easy to blow dry. I don't always need conditioner after using this shampoo as it leaves my hair tangle free and well nourished. I can pull my comb through my hair without encountering any knots and using the radial brush and hairdryer my hair seems easier to manage than when I use other shampoos.

I use this shampoo every two days and a 750ml bottle will last me up to three weeks, every few days I will use the matching Apple & Aloe Vera Conditioner which is also excellent for its price. The best thing is this shampoo costs just 58p for the large bottle, which is an absolute bargain considering what a brilliant shampoo this is.

Summary: A fantastic shampoo at a fantastic price.

The cheap brands never seem to be any good on my long hair.
