Nice 2 in 1 for kids

My daughter used to love the bath, now it's a struggle to get her in the bath let alone shampoo and condition her hair like I used to. To make things a bit quicker I've started buying her 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner products. One 2 in 1 we have tried is this one from Tesco.

The Tesco steps strawberry 2 in 1 is only available to purchase from Tesco either in store or online if you do your shopping that way. A 250ml bottle will cost you £1.

The shampoo comes inside a bright pink bottle, the shape of the bottle is nice as the curved nature of it makes it comfortable to grip with one hand when you are mid wash. There is a cartoon like picture of a nice monster on the front of the bottle to try and make it appeal to children, the bottle also has the normal product information and tells us it has a no more tears formula.

It's very easy to flip the lid of the bottle up to reveal the hole that the shampoo comes out of. The shampoo itself is a pale pink colour and as soon as it is squirted onto your hand you can smell the strawberry fragrance, it's isn't a normal natural strawberry scent, more artificial than anything. My daughter pulls out her hair and subsequently doesn't have very much at the moment, she goes through patches of pulling and her hair never grows more than a couple of inches in length. This means that a small pea size blob of shampoo is enough to wash her hair, especially as it is extremely easy to lather.

Once the product has been massaged into my daughters hair, I find it easy to rinse out and it doesn't take longer than other shampoos we have used. My daughter has never experienced an adverse reaction to the shampoo and if a little does get into her eyes, which doesn't happen very often, I simply wipe her face with a flannel and she is fine. I bath my daughter in the evening and the strawberry scent lingers on her hair until morning. Her hair looks clean and feels soft after using this.

I'd definitely recommend this 2 in 1 shampoo from Tesco. It is cheap but the value for money is brilliant, it cleans my daughters hair well, is easy to lather and rinse off and has the all important no more tears formulation.

      A good product

I have been using Johnson's baby shampoo on my son's hair most of the time since he was born with the odd kids shampoo thrown in here and there but now my son is getting older he is quite adamant that he wants a kids shampoo as opposed to baby shampoo and so on a trip to Tesco he chose the Tesco own range steps two in one strawberry shampoo after opening a few various ones to have a sniff of the fragrance!

The Tesco steps two in one shampoo comes in a dark pink bottle which features a curved neck. I think the packaging is designed very much to look like the L'Oreal kids shampoo range to be honest as it is brightly coloured and has a similar bottle shape. On the pack there is a picture of some monster eyes with a long mono brow and some fangs but it doesn't look scary as it is more of a cute design! There is also the Tesco name as well as the product name and scent as well.

My son can be a bit of a nightmare when washing his hair that if any bubbles get near his eyes it is suddenly the end of the world despite the fact that I always look for shampoos with a no more tears formula for him. This shampoo also has a no tears formulation and is apparently developed to be kinder to eyes which is something that is obviously beneficial when choosing a shampoo for a child. We are also told that the shampoo will help tame and smooth tough tangles leaving hair soft and shiny. My son has quite short hair anyway so it doesn't tend to get too tangled but this may be something of use to parents of girls with long hair as I know my sister's hair used to be a nightmare as a small child as it was very curly and would knot easily.

Opening the lid is easily done and the design of the bottle makes it easy to hold around the neck for either myself or my son. As my son has short hair very little of the product is needed to wash his hair. The shampoo is slightly tinted pink and a small blob lathers very well on my son's hair when washing it. The scent of the shampoo really is lovely and it hits you as soon as you open the bottle as it is a very sweet, but obviously artificial smelling, strawberry scent. As the shampoo is lathered in my son's hair the smell is just as apparent and lingers for a while after the shampoo has been rinsed away as well.

The product has been dermatologically tested and my son has had no reaction at all whilst using this shampoo and his skin can be quite sensitive at times. The shampoo leaves his hair soft and well cleansed and it also looks shiny and healthy too after washing so I am very happy with the product to be honest. You can pick up a 250ml bottle of this from Tesco where it will cost you just a pound which is around half the usual selling price of the L'Oreal kids range in which it is modelled. I find we need very little each time we wash my son's hair and so a bottle will last us a very long time indeed. Luckily you are able to use this shampoo for twenty four months after opening and so it has good longevity.

I would certainly recommend this review if you are looking for a good quality shampoo for your child which isn't going to break the bank!

Thank you for reading my review!

        Wouldn't bother with this one!

I have nightmare, hard to control hair and suffer with a variety of problems with it. Frizz, split ends, dandruff (from time to time), greasy roots within minutes after washing it or very dry hair indeed...... I just can't win and get hair like Cheryl Coles no matter how much I spend out on hair products and time I put into it!

I change my shampoo and conditioner often cos one minute it does a decent job on me the next it doesn't so I openly admit I'm the unfaithful type!

I am 36 years old, not only do I find that shampoos and products in general meant for babies and children work best for me I'm addicted to the fruity smells they have to them and we all know that us adults can use them too....in fact on most bottles etc that is said which is what led me to purchasing this after smelling its wonderful fragrance!

The Packaging of this is of course aimed at children. Bright pink plastic bottle, easy to handle bottle with a sort of monster looking face on the front of it (not scary though lol), it holds 300ml of the product and has a flip-top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is Tesco 'First Steps' 2 In 1 Strawberry Shampoo 'No tears formulation with added conditioner'. On the back of the bottle we are told a bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients and the size is stated and contact details for Tesco are given. Nice enough bottle and informative enough it is.

        The Shampoo Itself:

The shampoo is dark red and transparent and smells of berry fruits. I'd say this isn't naturally fragranced and smells fakely of dark berries of some kind rather than of strawberries.

A little of this goes a very long way indeed and it lathers up to thick white lather very quickly indeed however I find this to slightly sting my eyes, hair feels dried out with this on and its a pain to wash out as it takes ages and loads of rinsing!

You can this once or twice per wash and of course your not meant to used conditioner afterwards as it has conditioners added.

Sadly though I don't like this at all. Sure my hair feels cleaner, the smell when first used is pleasant enough but after about 5 minutes the smell completly vanishes from the hair sadly. My hair is left feeling very dried out indeed and whether this is better on a babies/childrens hair I don't know but considering it makes my hair like a birds nest and it stings my hair I personally don't feel able to recommend it!

Only available in Tesco stores priced at about £1.15 a bottle!
