Tesco Value Hair Conditioner
Advantages: Cheap, recyclable packaging, easy to use, softens hair.
Disadvantages: Did not remove tangles, seemed to increase them.
I have very sensitive scalp and over the past year or two I have tried numerous shampoo and conditioner products only to find that within weeks of using them that my scalp becomes itchy and sore once again. This means that my hair ends up looking greasy quicker too and because of this I am always on the look out for something new that is going to be kind to my hair without costing a fortune. Recently I decided that I would give this Tesco Everyday Value (previously Value) hair conditioner a try, I paid just 24p for a 500ml bottle that I have been using at home for a few weeks now.
This conditioner is packaged and made cheaply and this does show from the look of the bottle. This comes in a plastic peach coloured bottle with a large white chunky plastic screw top lid. The whole thing looks cheap but I don't expect anything more for the low price that I paid.
The conditioner itself is peach and almost matches the colour of the bottle. The consistency is quite thick yet this moves quite fast so I can quickly pour out the amount of conditioner that I need. I find that a large amount that fills half of the palm of my hand is enough to run through my full length of hair. I have quite long hair that runs down to the middle of my back now and so I do need quite a lot of conditioner to run through it. I concentrate the application on the roots and tips to ensure that my hair is hopefully as knot free as possible. I would say that I use a little more of this than some other conditioners and this is mainly because this is cheap and I know that I can still get a good few weeks of conditioning out of this for just 24p.
This conditioner coats my hair very well. I find it simple to apply and it sticks to my hair quite thoroughly meaning I have to use one hand to hold the shower head and one hand to run through my hair when washing this conditioner off. As soon as I start to wash this off I can notice a difference in the feel of my hair. My hair feels soft and smooth before I've even finished rinsing off the conditioner and it takes a good minute or two before every trace of conditioner is gone.
Once I have washed my hair and I start to dry it I always brush my hair through first to remove any knots or tangles. There were actually quite a few tangles in my hair still and it was a little painful brushing them out. This is not something that normally happens to me and I did have to take a few minutes to brush my hair as gentle as possible to avoid breaking hair or causing split ends.
In all I am going to give this conditioner 3/5. It was cheap, it helped soften my hair BUT it did not leave my hair free of tangles and if anything my hair was more tangled, much more, after my shower and I spent several minutes longer than normal brushing my hair out before blow drying it. This is not something I need and perhaps I'd be better to spend more on a conditioner that doesn't leave tangles behind just so I can have more time for myself in the morning when getting ready for work. Another use for this conditioner, if not for hair, is for shaving your legs and it works quite well for this purpose and is cheap too.
Summary: An average conditioner from Tesco.
