Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Everything about it is rubbish
Two of my little boys have short hair and from time to time they like to have their hair spiked, usually when we're on holiday or when they are going to parties. With them only being 5 and 3 I don't like them to use the same expensive products my husband uses and seen as he kept using his hair gel on them I had to go out and get a cheap hair gel for them.
Looking in my local Tesco I chose the cheapest hair gel they had and I think it only cost 39p, at that price the boys could have their hair spiked as often as they liked. It comes in a large clear plastic tub which contains 300ml. The gel itself is bright green.
When opening the tub the most noticable thing is the smell, the gel really smells awful but unfortunetely this isn't where the negatives end.
On the packet it says Tesco Extra control styling gel has been specially formulated to give you a long lasting hold for all hair types. Now my eldest boy has got really thick hair (which he must get from my husband because mine is really fine) and my other boy has got really fine hair, so I have experience of using it on both. The gel is rubbish on both of their hairs, it will spike to begin with but after half an hour the hair is back to normal, it does not hold at all. No matter how much you put on it does not work. I must admit it is slightly better on the fine hair but not good enough.
I have tried using this on the boys quite a few times and it does not work, style or hold. They are now back to using their dad's hair gel and I now have a nearly full tub of this Tesco Gel sitting in the bathroom cabinet.
The gel is also extremely sticky to touch and leaves your hands feeling awful.
I have nothing positive to say about this gel, it isn't even good enough to use on a little boys hair. It may be cheap but if you're never going to use it then it is 39p too much.
Summary: Rubbish
