“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Conditioner / Suitable for: curly hair / What it does: moisturizes „
I was looking for a product to rescue my hair after having my little girl a few months ago. I think it's fair to say that just having been through a 9 month pregnancy my hair was definitely now looking its best. It felt very dry and brittle and just looked like straw on top of head. I wanted to look and feel good about myself so went on a shopping trip which is when I first saw this. The product adds a shine to your hair and makes it look in good condition again. My hair kept going frizzy and this product says it stops this so I was very interested in it for that reason alone!
My hair is quite long and very straight so it can look a bit lank and out of condition if I don't keep on top of it.
I use hair dryers and straightners on my hair most days so it really can get dry and broken that and the pregnancy left it needing help.
I often use Body shop products and unlike other makes I usually find that they do what they say on the tin. When I bought this it comes in a tin it holds 50g. My first feeling when I got it home was that it looked like a very greasy product and I was a bit worried that it might make my hair look greasy. The thing that I did really love about it though was the smell. I love coconut, this smell is lovely and it always reminds me of my holidays for some reason.
I followed the instructions and just used a small amount on my hair. It is applied after your hair is washed and styled.
It left my hair looking really nice and shiny after I had applied it and I was really pleased with it. The thing that was also great was that it kept my hair smooth and shiny all day, sometimes when I'm out and about my hair goes frizzy but with this product applied it didn't do this it stayed looking good for the whole day.
The tin lasts absolutely ages mine has lasted me over a month already and there is still plenty left so you definitely get good value for money.
My hair can get really dry and frizzy especially on the ends and even more so when I'm on holidays. I bought the Coconut Oil Hair Shine by the Body Shop because I thought it would get my hair under control during these particularly frizzy times.
What does the product do?
The product promises to smooth the hair and to add shine to it. It also claims that it will help to repair and condition the hair leaving it in a better condition. It promises to do all this using the natural addition of Coconut Oil and Organic beeswax. It has been designed for use on all hair types.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be smoothed over your dry hair. You simply rub your fingers over the product and then smooth it over the ends and length of your hair. If you have thin hair that gets greasy easily you only need to use the tiniest amount of the product or it will make your hair go flat.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a white tub. It has pictures of some delicious coconuts on the front and you twist the lid and pull it to remove it. This can be quite difficult to do, especially if you're hands are wet. The tub is metal and protects the product inside. The product cost me around £6 and it can be bought from your local Body Shop or from its online website.
Aroma and Appearance
Unsuprisingly, this smells just like coconuts and the aroma lingers nicely on your hair for a while. It is honey coloured and quite waxy in its consistency although it is still quite soft.
The product is easy to apply to your hair although you need to control the amount you are applying according to your hair type. I use the tiniest amount and only on the ends otherwise it makes my hair greasy. It smoothes the ends instantly, giving my hair a bit of a shine and gets my ends under control. I think it leaves my hair in a better condition and sometimes I put lots of the ends a few hours before I wash my hair. My friend who has coarse and curly hair swears by this and use it on the length of her hair and it makes her hair more manageable and beautiful.
If you're hair is really dry, coarse or curly then you will love this product. If you have any other hair type, use it sparingly on the ends and you will get good results. When used properly, this can be your hair taming friend for life.
I love this hair shine as it smells gorgeous and it lasts absolutely forever. Well worth the £5.00 that I paid for it.
The product comes presented in a small round metal tin with a lid. The colour of the hair shine is a cream/ off white colour and it smells very much like coconut, yummy! The hair shine doesn't need any special brushes for it to be applied, you simply apply it to your hair with your fingertips. The hair shine can be bought both online via the website or in store at your local Body Shop.
My advice would be to not apply too much of this as it can feel a little greasy on your hair. Simply apply little amounts of it at a time and build it up if necessary. The product has a thin consistency but it's easy to apply to the hair. You simply smooth it through your hair to control frizz and split ends. I find that the product seals split ends, giving your hair a sleeker appearance. The hair shine also leaves a gorgeous tropical scent on your hair, which is a nice touch!
My hair sometimes becomes static and doesn't always go the way that I want it to. This product helps to make my hair easier to manage. It is also great to use after straighteneing as it helps to keep your hair straight all day long. It's a versatile product that can be used on all hair types, although it's great to use on dry hair as it adds a touch of much needed moisture to your hair.
I have quite dry hair and dry ends, and I bought this to try and help this and make my hair look better overall.
The product smells lovely, with a scent of coconut and vanilla. The smell is not too overpowering I have found you only need a little bit of the hair shine. It has quite a thin consistency, but this helps to not make your hair greasy and not weight it down. However, I have found it you put too much on it can make your hair look a little bit greasy so definitely less is more.
After straightening my hair, I get some of the product out of the tin by rubbing it onto my hands, then I run it through the ends of my hair. I find it makes my hair appear less coarse and adds shine without making it greasy. I have found a lot of products designed to add shine to hair do make your hair greasy but have been surprised and pleased with this hair shine product.
The tin is compact and easy to carry, where it is handy to pop in your bag or take away. It is a nice product to buy for your holidays or just to use generally to make your hair soft and shiny!
I have very long, naturally curly hair. It takes a lifetime to tame - whether I'm wearing it straight, or leaving it to fall in curls, but dry ends need moisture - no matter what your style of hair. I have to be very select on what types of products I put into my hair, with the right products it looks beautiful - with the wrong ones - or if I use them incorrectly - I pin my hair up and hope nobody will notice!
When I went into the Body Shop (I really do insist you go into one of their shops and have a good sniff of their products first - scents can be very particular) my eye instantly targeted, and homed in on the Coconut range of their products (the scent of Coconuts turns me into a kitty on Catnip) and I instantly spotted what looked to be a Shoe-polish tin: their Coconut Oil Hair Shine, 50g. I was rather concerned this would only make do for a styling product rather than a 'treatment'- especially on shorter haircuts, just by judging the packaging design. However - I thought I'd give it a go - it does state on the tin: "...to smooth and add shine, for ALL HAIR TYPES."
I've used Coconut Oil before, again - in solid form like this - but only as pre-shampoo treatment in normal sized pots. These can be quite messy, and this looked compact, nice and neat. I have got to admit, though, although I use this as a night-time treatment AND sometimes a styling product - I don't use this as a pre-shampoo treatment - purely for the fact there isn't enough product, and the packaging influences you to sweep your fingertips over the round mass of tin lightly - and apply to your hair like a balm. This is how I've been using it - AFTER my hair has been shampooed, conditioned, and dried. I put this on the long lengths of my hair before I go to bed - and when I wake up and style my hair - I find it to be sleek and glossy (if I choose to straighten it) or sleek and glossy (if I choose to let it be curly). Be warned, like with any strong nourishing oil / super strength conditioner - do NOT apply this to your roots. It WILL look greasy and it'll feel greasy, too. A little of this stuff really goes along way. I've used this as a styling product , and applied it to the ends of my hair just as I'm about to go out - but I find it quite heavy (some people will love that) but to me, I prefer my hair to drink up all the moisture and show more long term results.
The consistency, as mentioned - is like a balm - and the scent is really scrumptious! It doesn't have that 'fake coconut' scent at all - if anything, it's very delicate, and smells quite buttery - and I can pick up Honey in its fragrance, too, very similar to their Honey range of Shampoos and Conditioners.
What I love most about the product, as well as its scent and the long term results - is that the packaging is quite genius. Indeed - like a Shoe-polish tin - it's slim and flat enough to slip into your handbag, and would be ideal to bring on weekends away or holidays. This is a very clever, and helpful find from the Body Shop! Recommended.
I have quite dry ends and where I colour my hair it lacks shine. A friend suggested a serum but as I am a Body Shop lover I thought I would give this a try.
This is a tin similar in size to shoe polish. The lid comes off easily to reveal an uninteresting cream coloured wax like substance.
It smells gorgeous, coconut, but not overpowering or fake.
I have medium length hair and find that by swirling three finger tips round the surface a couple or times is enough. I can't really see much on my figers but I rub them together and comb them through my ends and after I have gotten rid of what seems like all of it I stroke all the way down my hair.
This tiny amount is enough to give my hair a slightly texturised look and stop fly aways being a problem and my hair looks lovely and glossy.
It is better to use a tiny amount and find you need more than over do it as i wuld just make your hair look like it is in need of a wash.
Although the pot doesn't seem like much it will last for a very long time where you need so much. I have had mine over a month and there isn't much of a dent in it yet.
At £4.85 I don't think it is bad value, where it lasts it ends up being quite cheap compared to some products on the maket and it isn't tested on animals, bonus!
I will buy another when I run out, which wont be any time soon.
There are certain products in a girl's life that are a staple NEED: beauty products that are so good, so effective that you just cannot live without! This product is one of those for me. It smells so beautiful and exotic and unlike alot of other similar products, it is very fragrant on the hair and smells lovely on the hair for the whole day. And on the plus side as well is that a can will last me a really long time so it is extremely affordable. But the most important thing for me, is that IT WORKS!There is not an abundance of products on the market these days that actually do what they say on the tin, so when a lovely little gem comes along like this one, then it's a pleasure(the only problem is there have been several products that I have faithfully used from the Body Shop, that have become discontinued or have become revised and the updated product is inferior to the original).
This product leaves your hair shiny, soft and sleek. Just be careful to use sparingly or you'll end up with pasty hair as I discovered when I got a bit liberal with the can!
This is my first opinion over here in the world of dooyoo so please be gentle! I’m a ciaoer originally! I'm a bit of a girlie girl and i love all beauty products, so what better way to start of my life as a dooyooer than with a beauty opinion! I have blonde shoulder length wavy hair. Except that i don't want it wavy, it looks horrible like that! I look like a little kid can’t do their hair like normal grown-ups. No offence to people who have wavy hair, I think it looks really nice on some people, just not on me, although it is in good condition when in this form. I like my hair to be straight, as straight as i can get it, so i use every type of straightening heated product there is! I use hair dryers and straightener's most of the time. As you can imagine this often leaves my hair very puffy and parched, and not the smooth sleek sex goddess hair that i would like! One day my mum bought me this coconut oil hair shine. I wasn’t that optimistic about it, as I’m not really a fan of the body shop, but I gave it a go anyway. It comes in a tin, a bit like the Vaseline lip tins but on a bigger scale. The top of the tin is red, with a bit of blue and yellow on it. It says the net weight is 50g. The actual oil is more like a yellowy wax. It has a really strong but not overpowering smell of coconut to it, but the greasy feel of it put me off straight away, but I still persevered with it. The instructions say smooth a small amount over your hair after it has been dried and styled. Take note of what I have just wrote- a SMALL amount. One time I forgot about this and applied it quite generously. My hair went flat and greasy, and my hair looked like it hadn’t been washed in weeks! Yuk. It can be used for all hair types. To smooth and condition straight hair and dry ends, or to separate curls in curly hair. I am now a huge fan of this product, as when I small amount is smoothed
through your hair it tames frizz and gives a shine to your hair. Perfect, sex kitten hair! Well, it would be if I could get rid of these blasted waves and curls that keep springing up! Grrr! Oh, one more thing, Don’t do what I did and leave it near a radiator of out in the sun! The waxy stuff does turn into a sort of oil and it all melts and then hardens in a funny shape! Each tin lasts a long time so its been a while since I’ve had to re-stock, but as far as I can remember it was quite cheap and only cost a few pounds! It’s got to be worth trying it doesn’t it, because if you don’t like it you wont have wasted loads of money!
I have suffered my whole life with disgracefully frizzy hair, that is until i discovered the body shop cocunut oil. I have naturally curly hair and it has always looked like i have been dragged through a bush backwards. This oil is marvellous it is the only product which i can genuinely say has had a good affect. It says on the back of the tub to apply to dry hair. I find that when you apply to drenching wet hair, comb through and scrunch dry with a towl it produces the most lovely shiny ringlets i have ever had in my life. I have had so many comments on how good my hair looks recently that i just had to tell you about this product. It is also great when you have been out in the rain and you get an attack of the frizz, it smooths all the frizz away without making your hair greasy. You only need to use a small amount each time, i use some when my hair is wet and when it has been completely dried i add a little more to style it. Buy it today and you will notice a great difference.
