Advantages: smells gorgeous, tames frizz
Disadvantages: too much may make hair greasy
I like to think I'm a bit of a rock chick, but that doesn't mean I care any less about the way I look, i am always looking for products that will allow me to change the style of may hair wothout clogging it up
I have bobbed chin length hair that is red currently though thats always changing, I use hairspray mostly for my hair but wanted an alternative to the solid clumping of may hair together
After visiting the body shop on one of their events that they have for charity where all the items they have are cheaper than the standard retail price
I came across this little red tin, on first inspection it looks like the kind of tin that you would open and expect to find shoe polish in, I really liked the way it looked, upon closer inspection I saw that it was body shop coconut oil hair shine, one whiff of the tin and I was sold
What I thought when I got home?
After getting it out when I got home, I inspected the packaging closer the tin is handy and is firm and sturdy, inside the product is solid and is a yellow colour with iridescent bits in it when you look at it in the light, the tin weight is 50grams and like I said before the tin is red with a blue and yellow stripe across it, the first time you take a sniff of it you do get the overpowering smell of coconut, I adore the smell of coconut so it didn't put me off, but others may need to double-check before they buy because they may find the smell a bit too strong, when you do use it it isn't as strong smelling as when you smell it from the tin
The first use?
The first time o used it I used it was after washing drying and straightening my hair, I lightly stroked the solid yellow that was inside the tin, the product melted as soon as I touched it, I didn't take out too much product and found the best way to use it was to get some on the tips on your fingers then rub your hands together so that it was distributed evenly,
first of all I ran my hand through my hair but that made my hair clump together and immediately looked greasy which I wasn't very happy about so I don't recommend that you do that
I found that the best way for me to use it was to put it on the bottom ends of my hair it made my hair more choppy which is the funky look I was going for, in the light the iridescent particles picked out the blonde in my hair so this would be a great product for those that do have blonde hair
The smell also stayed on my hair for a while which was very nice to have that slight lingering scent of coconut
I did find that I had to wash my hair immediately afterwards because the product left my hand very greasy
So who should use it?
Those with blonde hair and in fact you could use it on any type of hair, it helps to smooth frizzy ness and makes hair sleeker but remember use only very small amounts otherwise you would look like you just shoved a load of grease on your hair which isn't the look that we want
Its very good for those that want to funk up their hair style a bit and also it does the do the job so you can go from hedge hair to sleek kitten in no time
I wouldn't recommend it for hair that gets greasy quickly
Because you only need to use a small amount it lasts a very long time and I believe it only cost me about a pound, again this is cheaper than you would normally get in the shops
Summary: Its not shoe polish though the tin might make you think it is, its a little gem
