Advantages: Adds shine, dismisses frizz, smells gorgeous

Disadvantages: Results only showed for me after straightening

As mentioned many times my hair is a nightmare of a dry, thick, frizzy bush and I spend a fortune on new shampoos, conditioners, sprays, creams etc. My last encounter at the hairdressers was when I decided to freshen up my doo with a darkish brown colour on the top layers with thick blonde meche poking through underneath.

This led to my hair needing to be dyed every couple of weeks from then on as the hairdresser chose in her words a nice rich brown which turned out to be a very dark red, which faded to a nasty orange after a couple of washes the thick blonde bits underneath which were supposed to brighten it up a bit were described as looking like floppy dog ears by my friend. So with all the horrors I've been subjecting my hair too I need all the help I can get.

I have been expounding the virtues for a while here on the Montagne Frizz Miracle hair sachet as it has been my lifesaver but my one complaint was that you couldn't buy a bottle of the serum. Then a while ago I read a review by Mythdata on the Body Shop Define & No Frizz Cream and made a mental note to expand my ever growing hair styling resources with what she described as a very good product.

I eventually made it down to the Body Shop and was perusing the shelves when a very helpful sales assistant came over and asked if she could help I told her that I had read a review of a frizz cream which was made from nuts, yes I know I should have written the name down but I figured I would recognize it when I saw it. As we were walking over to the shelf I started telling her about all the products I had tried and hadn't been impressed with, lo and behold instead of selling me the tube of cream she put a little into a pot, probably enough for about 6 or 8 hair styling sessions and insisted I try before I buy.

The main content of this cream is brazil nut oil from Peru, which in the traditional Body Shop way is sourced through their fair trade programme which means that all producers and workers are paid a fair and living wage - so you get a nice warm glow inside for being a good person.

As soon as I got home from work, I was straight into the shower (I know I get really over excited about products believing each one is going to be the one that enriches my life). I opened the little pot of cream and the lovely smell hit me straight away I can't put my finger on what it smells of but the only way to describe it was that it reminded me of a mix of fruits rather than nuts.

The instructions are to apply sparingly to damp hair and style as usual which is a bit annoying as I prefer an amount to be mentioned say a pea sized or walnut sized amount for shoulder length hair. But I went with pea sized amount on my towel dried hair. The cream was quite thin and was easily distributed between my two palms before easily covering my full head of hair . I then blasted it with the hair dryer as I couldn't wait to see the result.

Once dry my hair was admittedly a lot smoother than if I hadn't used anything on it but no better than it would be with frizz ease or super skinny serum and it looked as thick as ever.

Once I ran the GHDs through it though I couldn't believe the difference, it was shining brightly I have never seen anything like it. It was smooth, silky and shiny and looked in amazing condition. At this stage it even proved a better result than my old favourite Montagne Jeunesse. When I came downstairs hubby even mentioned that my hair looked nice without being either poked or prodded.

I loved the effect this had once straightened as it made my hair very sleek and thin, but I understand that while I like my hair to look thin and hang around my face others prefer lots of body and bounce so this may not be as suitable for you.

The body shop describes this as a conditioning cream that helps define curls and tame frizz, leaving your hair smooth, shiny and feeling great and it comes in a tube which holds 100ml at a cost of £6.00. I don't believe this is very expensive especially as it works so beautifully and it will last for possibly months depending on how often you wash your hair.

This can also be used on dry hair between washes but I have found I haven't needed to add any in between washes as the result lasts really well.

Find yourself a helpful customer services advisor in the Body Shop and ask for a sample to see if it works as well for you before cluttering up your cupboards with more stuff (you know who you are).

Thanks Mythdata for your recommendation I love it.

Summary: You'd be nuts not to try a sample size
