Advantages: Cheap, ethically produced, easy to use, effective.

Disadvantages: Quite bulky.

I always use a wide tooth comb to sort my freshly washed hair out while it is still wet. I have owned this wide toothed wooden comb from the Body Shop for a couple of years and love the way it carefully untangles wet hair without yanking or ripping.

This costs £3 in store or online and is made of fair trade wood. The teeth really are quite widely spaced with around 2mm between each one and this means that it will roughly straighten out your hair and gently alert you to where the tangles are. It is easy to hold and use and feels quite nice as it is wooden. The size is 12cm long by 5cm wide so it is also quite a wide comb in the context of standard plastic ones - this is why it is so easy to hold although it does mean it is more bulky than a standard comb.

If I am letting my hair dry naturally then the very least I do is sort it out with this comb first, it makes easy work of removing tangles and leaves my hair straight, sleek and smooth. Given the size of this comb, I still always ensure that this is with me on my travels where it is highly possible I will not have access to a hair dryer, it is an essential bit of kit.

I think this is great value for the price and it is a very sturdy comb which will stand the test of time, more importantly it is easy to use and handle and it is made of ethically sourced wood. For me this certainly ticks all the boxes.

Summary: Lovely comb which is great value for money and easy to use.
