Advantages: Soothing, smells delicious, clears the scalp, thick.

Disadvantages: Never found any yet!

This shampoo recently returned to the shelves of the Body Shop due to popular demand. It has been available since the mid-nineties. The bottle is transparent olive green with a modern looking label showing a photograph of ginger root giving the impression of a natural product.

And yes, a lot of the ingredients are natural including white willow, organic honey and of course ginger. It also contains piroctone olamine which is an effective anti-fungal agent. Added panthenol lessens the need for conditioner making it a good purchase if you are on a budget.
You can see the recipe is well thought out.

Its texture is really thick and you only need a small amount to massage into your scalp. It does not lather as well as other shampoos, but I believe this makes it less irritant to sensitive skin.

I have suffered from a highly sensitive scalp for years and often needed unpleasant coal-tar shampoos that smell disgusting. The fragrance of this shampoo is uplifting and spicy which I found to be a pleasure to use. The calming effects on the skin are almost instantaneous and my scalp feels less itchy and sore for days after use. And with it leaving my hair shiny and soft, prescription shampoos are a thing of the past for me now.

It comes in a 250ml size bottle and cost £5.35 each at bodyshop.co.uk. You can often find special offers in their outlet stores. You cannot really argue with that if you add into the bargain the fact that you are buying from an ethical company.

Summary: Pure relief in a bottle.
