“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Hair Shampoo / Subcategory: Conditioner „
Recently I was walking past my local Body Shop and I spotted that they had a sale on. I visited a couple of times and not much caught my eye, however, on my third visit I spotted this Nettle Oil balance conditioner which was reduced from over £5.00 (£5.50 I think?) to just £1.00! I was chuffed and despite never having tried this before I picked up 5 bottles each with 250ml of product. I needed conditioner anyway and £1 per 250ml made these well within my usual price range.
The Body Shop is a range that I use quite often and usually I place my orders online because they have sent me an e-mail advertising a special offer or containing a money saving voucher. I get quite a lot of people Body Shop gift sets that I stock up on throughout the year too but it is actually rare for me to visit a Body Shop store just because I always forget it is there! The shampoo and conditioner ranges are not ones that I have tried very often, mainly because of the prohibitive full price, and so I was pleased to try this one out for such a bargain price.
I quite like the smell of this conditioner as soon as the bottle is open. It is a sweet kind of scent that makes me think of a milkshake scented face mask I tried once but without being so overpowering. The scent is quite fresh and I did feel confident that this was going to be useful for my hair, even just from the smell.
I did not use this in conjunction with the nettle oil shampoo but with a Lush shampoo bar that I had been using for a number of weeks. This shampoo bar was working well but was leaving me with hair that didn't quite feel as sleek and shiny as I would like it too. I decided this conditioner would go well and I was not wrong!
This conditioner is simple to apply but I did find the packaging a little difficult to use. I found that when I opened the flip top lid I could squeeze quite hard on the bottle to release a small amount of conditioner. Then there would be an 'empty' noise where just the air spurts out the bottle and then I'd be able to squeeze a small amount out again. This meant that the first time I used each bottle that I had to go to a great effort just to get enough conditioner to run across my middle of the back length hair. This did stop happening once I'd used a bottle once or twice but was a disappoint none the less and I felt that the effort involved in releasing a small amount of conditioner was off putting.
This conditioner, once applied to my hair, lasted for a long coverage period. I found that a small handful would manage the top of my hair and the sides too before another small handful was needed to do the rest of my hair down to the ends. I used one bottle for about 6 or 7 conditioner sessions and while this is not a massive amount for £1.00 I was happy to give this a try and continuing using it until the bottles had all run out. I have used about 2 1/2 bottles so far and will definitely continue using this until I run out and switch to something else.
In all I have been very pleased with the quality of this conditioner. My usually greasy roots have definitely been improved and I am now able to go for longer periods of time before I need to wash my hair. I can now usually wash my hair every other day or even every three days and it still looks nice, even if I pull it around in to different styles. The oiliness of my hair has definitely been improved greatly and I feel like my hair looks shinier and more healthy since I have been using this. My hair was manageable and easy to comb after using this and it was definitely easier to brush all the way around, despite me tangling it up when shampooing and using conditioner like I always do.
I would say that this conditioner is definitely worth its full price, it works well, it is long lasting and it has sorted out my oiliness, at least for now. I was chuffed to pick these up for £1.00 and will keep my eyes peeled for this conditioner again in the future!
I reviewed the shampoo that matches this conditioner a while back and I was quite surprised to find that this conditioner wasnt already in the Dooyoo database but luckily it was accepted yesterday and I thought Id write the review today. If you are a regular reader of my reviews you will know that I am not a fan of the Bodyshops hair care range at all, in fact all the shampoos and conditioners I have tried before this nettle one I have hated. So when I got this conditioner in a Bodyshop box set for my birthday a few weeks ago I did not have high hopes for it at all but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This review may be quite similar to the shampoo review I wrote a few weeks ago!
Now this doesnt smell great to be honest. But having said that it doesnt smell as bad as you assume it will. Rather than smelling floral and sort of like grass (like I thought it would) it actually has quite a sweet, fruity aroma which is pleasantly surprising to say the least however unlike all the other Bodyshop products this one smells really artificial and fake which doesnt appeal to me. But because the results of this conditioner are so great I dont mind to much about the smell overall.
Now another thing that put me off trying this for a while was that it is designed for oily hair and I dont have oily hair in the slightest so I thought this would leave my hair greasy like all the other conditioners from this shop have. But I needed have worried because this worked really well on my hair even though it wasnt designed for my hair type. After using the shampoo I thought I needed to put this on because otherwise my hair tends to dry out and Im very glad I did because this is a great conditioner. It left my hair feeling really soft and nourished and it was super easy to brush after I had washed it out. I found my hair was really managable and easy to style after it had dried and the effects lasted ages afterwards - people were actually commenting on how glossy my hair looked and everyone loves a compliment dont they?! The smell - even though it isnt great - does last ages on your hair and it leaves your hair feeling really fresh and clean so everything about this conditioner lasts ages. I certainly recommend this to everyone, even if you have been disappointed with other Bodyshop conditioners, this will change your mind! I definately prefer this nettle conditioner to the shampoo but I really think they should be used togther for maximum results.
I think this is definately worth the £5 price tag because you dont have to use much at a time so it will last you for ages. Im glad Ive tried it out and Ill be buying it when I want to treat myself again!
