I have long hair and although I often tie it back, I like to be able to push it back when washing my face and removing make up. I've owned the Body Shop headband for a few years now and have recently purchased a second to use when I'm away from home. The price I recently paid for the headband in a Body shop store was £4 and they're advertised by the Body Shop as being fair trade.
The headband is very basic being plain white and made of cotton towelling material (80%) and polyester (20%). There is a little bit of stretch in the fabric although I wouldn't say that it's a lot, I find it's just enough though to go around my head and to pull up over the top of my hair to keep my fringe and the front sections of my hair back. I use this as I remove make up and wash my face and it always stays perfectly in place until I decide to remove it. Even with it's continued use over a number of years, I've not found that my original one has lost any elasticity and it still works just as well as it did from first use so I feel that they're made to last. The headband is quite wide at around 6cm but sometimes I've doubled it over to halve it's width and it's worked just as well that way. There's a line of stitching all the way around it marking the centre of the headband and that is useful for folding it over.
The headband is white and as far as I'm aware, only available in white. I'm not sure whether white has been chosen to reflect cleanliness as before it's first use it looks very crisp, fresh and beautifully clean but as you'd expect after using a few times, especially from using it to hold my hair back whilst removing make up, I've found it to pick up a lot of small marks. Having said that, I have handwashed mine a few times and it's always turned out well and still functional. I personally wouldn't advise placing it in the washing machine as I'm not sure how well it would fair that way although the packaging on my latest purchase stated that it could be. In terms of the colours though, I do think it would be nicer if the Body Shop made the headband available in several choices of colour.
The only other issue I have with the band is the price. Given that it's so basic - just one piece of material in a loop - I find the £4 price tag expensive and I was a little reluctant when buying a second one but was swayed by the fact that the first one had served me so well and my thoughts were that eventually this second one would replace the original.
I've rated it four stars overall. Given it's high price I feel I have to remove a star but overall I've been very happy with the headband and it's served me well.
Thanks for reading :o)
Sometimes, when I'm working from home, having a clean-a-thon or ill, I like to tie my hair up and stick a big wide hairband in it, to keep it all out of the way. And when I was packing my bag for hospital (when I was pregnant), I made sure to include a headband, as having good hair (or even the chance to have good hair) would surely be way down the list having just had a baby!
So, I decided on the The Body Shop White Headband which I picked up in store for £2.50. I went for white, as my dressing gown is pale green (hey, who says you can't make at least a little effort to co-ordinate in hospital!?). I also thought that it might be a bit more of a forgiving colour if I was looking a bit pale (the other option was black).
You can also buy the The Body Shop White Headband on their website however it's hardly worth it as a postage and packaging charge applies which is actually more than the item. It might be a good thing to add on to another order however.
The The Body Shop White Headband is a wide, cotton white headband with a stitched seam on the inside and to join it into a hoop. It feels nice, and of a good quality. It sits in the hair comfortably without slipping off, and looks well against tied up hair (either a ponytail or a bun) or to keep back hair that is down and loose. It keeps back the stragglers you can get around your hairline and it leaves your face free and clear to wash it. Should you be using this at home for beauty reasons it's a good way of keeping your hair back for face masks and plucking your eyebrows or so on. Basically, this is a really versatile headband whether for lazy use or pampering.
When I was in hospital the band was great to keep my hair off my sweaty brow and help me feel a bit more neat and tidy (as much as you can do in labour). After I'd had my little bundle of joy I was ordered to have a shower in antibacterial solution (mmm!) which made my hair as shiny and soft as a bale of straw on a hot Summer's day... my Mum dragged a hairbrush through it and we popped the hair band on it and I managed again to feel a bit presentable, despite feeling rather exhausted (there were cameras about after all!)
After I got home, we popped the The Body Shop White Headband in the washing machine at 30 degrees with a white wash and it came out good as new and dried well, too. It's since been used and washed and generally it's as good as the day I bought it 2 years ago, so for £2.50 it's been a brilliant buy (it's also been on holiday abroad twice with me!)
So, overall, I highly recommend The Body Shop White Headband, it's a very versatile and useful and for the price it is a bargain as it's so well made and washable too. It helps me feel human on can't-be-bothered hair days (and when you have a child they're more common than they were before!)
This headband is purchased from Body Shop store at around £4.00. The price in my opinion is a little expensive, but this is the price for this type of item at most stores.
The headband is made from cotton material and is nice and thick, which is great for holding back my long thick hair. The material is also nice and soft to touch, and quite comfortable to wear, as in the past I have used headbands that tended to feel tight and rough on my head, however this one definitely felt soft and comfortable on the head.
==ITS USE AND EXPERIENCE==
This headband is mainly used to keep the hair back and out of the way when applying make up or facial masks. This is personally great for me, as I have long hair that can really annoy me and get in my way when I am trying to spread foundation around my face, without it going on my hair as well.
The headband is fully elasticated, which I found was very useful when fitting the headband onto my head and over my hair, it pulled my hair back with ease and did not cause any discomfort, it was able keep all my strands of hair away from my face which illustrates it good design. The elastic material made it fit perfectly without it feeling too tight or suffocating to the head and when it was taken off it also left my head free from any marks or imprints.
I usually wash mine in the washing machine, as it is fully machine washable which is great as all I have to do is pop it in with the rest of my washing cycle. I was happy to find that even after many machine washes it still had the soft feel and the elastic aspect was also still present.
== VERDICT ==
Overall this is great headband that has been designed really well, it does it job effectively but using the elastic aspect to keep the hair fully away from the face and at the same time comfortable to wear.
I've had this little headband from The Body Shop for a few years now, and I'd be lost without it, it's absolutely invaluable. If I did ever lose it, or it happened to wear out and lose it's shape then I'd be purchasing another one quick smart.
They currently retail for £4 in The Body Shop, which is very expensive for just a simple cotton headband, but it's worth it as it's such good quality. I've had cheaper versions of these, and they lose their shape within just a few weeks sometimes, so they're actually false economy as you go through so many of them, and so it actually ends up costing you twice as much - if not more.
This is just a simple plain white cotton headband, and it's designed to hold your hair away from your face whilst you apply a face mask, a face scrub, cleanser, your make up etc. The headband itself is fairly wide and so it very effectively holds all my hair back from my face, my fringe included, and my stray wispy bits included too. It's quite a tight fit which I like as this means that it doesn't slip off my head, and any stray bits of hair can't escape from under it, but it's not too tight that it feels like a vice around my head. It's made from a really soft cotton so that it feels soft against my skin, and it doesn't scratch the skin on my face as I'm pulling the headband on.
The headband is washable, and mine has been in the washer and the tumble dryer probably hundreds of times now. The first time I use it after I've washed and tumble dried it it's slightly tight, but the fabric does give slightly and it's then fine after that first time. Mine isn't quite as white as it started off, but it hasn't become loose or lost it's shape at all and so it's still perfectly usable, I don't really care that it's not as white as before - it still does it's job and that's all that really matters.
I'd definitely recommend this little headband, it may seem quite expensive for what it is, but it should hopefully last you for years and years.
Product: The Bodyshop White Headband
From: The Bodyshop
I have used The Bodyshop White Headband for quite a few years now and it quickly became one of my beauty/skincare essentials. You can purchase the headband from The Bodyshop for £4.00.
The idea of the headband is to wear it to keep the hair off your face whilst you apply your skincare regime or whilst you apply your make-up.
I love this product as it allows me to keep the hair off my face whilst washing my face, applying any creams/lotions and even whilst applying my daily make-up. My hair keeps dry, doesn't get wet and I needn't worry about getting unwanted product into it, result.
The headband is soft to the touch, comfortable, not too tight and as a nice fit. The product is cotton and has a thick band so it is suitable for the majority of hair types. It doesn't become loose within time and it keeps to it's shape amazingly well. The headband is also washable which is a good thing, as it is white it does tend to get a little bit grubby after using it a handful of times so being washable it is excellent for hygiene purposes.
The band is very easy to use, you simply put it over your head so it hangs at the neck, you then pull it into place over your hair and adjust it to your preferred position accordingly.
There are cheaper similar products on the market but not one compares to the quality and fit of The Bodyshop Headband for me.
The hairband makes my daily routine so much easier and speedy, a 10/10 rating.
At the care home I work in we have a Bodyshop representative who sets up a stall for the residents to order from. I would usually order my Bodyshop products online however the last time she visited I had to take a couple of residents downstairs to the stall and felt like I had to buy something so I bought myself this headband for when I use my facemasks.
The idea of the product is that it will hold your hair back off your face whilst you wash or apply make up or face masks so the idea of the product is a pretty good one. With this being a Bodyshop product obviously you can only get it from the Bodyshop although a normal hairband you can buy in many places and it will do just about the same job. I paid about £4 for this product a couple of months ago so it may have gone up in price a little but it was just for the sake of buying something pretty cheap.
The hair band is white I colour, it is pretty wide so is great for keeping away thicker hair like mine and is made of cotton. The hair band is soft to the touch and best of all when it gets covered in my facemasks it can go in the washing machine and doesn't misshapen at all. The band is easy to use simply put the band over your head so it hangs around your neck and then holding your hair back with one hand use the other hand to pull it up into place over the front of your hair.
This band is really easy to use and you can feel it is really great quality, the band doesn't loosen after it been on a while and therefore holds your hair in place for as long as you want it too. I have washed this band many times now and it is still as good as new there has been no stretching or shrinkage so I would say it is worth the money I paid for it.
This white head band from the Bodyshop came as part of a gift pack that I was given about a year ago and I have found myself using it an awful lot. Due to the fact that is was part of a gift I have no idea how much it actually costs to buy in the shop but I would get that it is priced around the £5 mark based upon similar products.
This product is designed for use for when you are applying your make up or when using a facepack as it keeps your hair out of the way, given that I have long hair this is an absolute essential for me and hence it gets a fair amount of use. Made from thick fair trade cotton is has a lovely soft feel to it and is very comfortable to wear. The elasticated qualities of this headband are perfect as the band adjusts comfortably to your head and is not at all constricting when worn. It has a snug fit when on my head so if feels secure and no hair escapes even with head movement while at the same time it is comfortable and certainly does not leave any marks in my skin when I take it off.
It is easy to clean as it can go in the washing machine, the white colour does show up the marks which is the whole point I guess so it has been washed a number of times and it still retains its softness and elasticity as well which is a good thing as I expected to start showing signs of wear and tear by now.
Quality wise this is a good product and sometime soon I will get around to buying another to act as a back up uuntil this one needs replacing.

The product is a white head band by The Body Shop which is perfect for keeping your hair back whilst you perform your daily skincare routine or apply make-up. I wanted something that was going to keep my hair out of my face whilst cleansing my face and doing my make up when going out on the town. I could have easily purchased a normal head band from somewhere such as Claire's accessories, how-ever I specifically wanted this one as it was a lot wider and made of cotton so can be machine washed on a regular basis. The band comes in one colour which is white and is made of a cotton material and feels soft when I rub my hand along it. The product will cost you £4.00 from in store or from their website. There are also a few people selling these brand new in their packaging on Ebay for a slightly cheaper price which is where I purchased mine from. I think I paid approximately £3.10 for mine which included postage costs as well. The product comes sealed in a frosted white colour bag to keep it clean.
Using the Band

Ever since purchasing the band I use it practically everyday when cleansing my face. I simply put the band over my head, round my neck and the pull the front up over my face so that it holds the front of my hair back. The band is quite thick so holds all my hair right back out of my face, even the shorter strands of hair which often fall out when trying to tie my hair back into a pony tail. The band doesn't feel too tight and is comfortable to wear. When using the band it does sometimes get a little wet or damp, especially when using my facial wash and other products. I also use the band when applying make up so I can ensure I apply my foundation right up to the hair line. Sometimes I do get some foundation onto the band but as I wash this on a regular basis for hygiene reasons the band never stays looking dirty for very long. I have washed the band a few times along with some light coloured towels when I was doing the washing and the band comes out looking as good as new with any foundation marks easily washed out. The band doesn't shrink or feel tight when putting it on again after washing it which is good.

I tried to find this product in my local Boots or Superdrug store but I couldn't find anything similar to this and only found products in the hair section which were more like head bands for every-day wear rather than just for cleansing and applying make up. The band may be a little on the pricey side, how-ever it's a great product and keeps a great job of keeping your hair back. As the band can be washed this means the band is long lasting and will last a good few years or if not at least a good few months or more. As I use the band on a regular basis I have also considered purchasing another one so I don't have to worry about washing the band & getting it dry before I need it for the next time. I would recommend this product to others as its really good quality and works well. It's also very comfortable to wear without feeling too tight or pulling at your hair.

The hospital I attend for diabetic checkups has a few small shops and coffee shops in it, one of them being The Body Shop, and I have to walk past this when I go there. On my last trip I had a look around and bought a few bits one of them being the white head band. I had recently had a side fringe cut into my hair and was always looking for clips and bands to keep it out of my face while doing my make up.
The head band came with very little packaging just a clear polythene bag like a lot of Body Shop products, it cost me just under £3.50 which at first I thought was a bit expensive for just a head band but after using it for a few weeks I have changed my mind as it was worth every penny.
The head band is in keeping with all the body shop products and made from 100% fair-trade cotton and feels very soft, the small shop I bought mine from only had this in white and I'm assuming this is the only colour choice as I have only ever seen it in white on the website. The band is slightly elasticised making it comfortable to wear without feeling like you have a brace around your head, tight head bands for some reason always make me want to screw up my eyes and squint, on the other hand it has never slipped down over my eyes when I'm wearing it. The head band is approximately 5cm's wide so it holds a good chunk of hair back.
Since I bought this I can honestly say I've used it everyday, I always wear make up and find this so useful to pull my hair back from my face when applying it, it has put an end to getting mascara in my hair most mornings. I always use this when I use a face mask, rather than just pulling my hair back in a pony tail or clips, which works to a certain extent but since having my hair cut I find some always falls out and get stuck in the mask, this means I can apply the mask and not have to worry about my hair, its also really useful if you pluck your eyebrows.
If you apply make up or face masks or creams I would certainly recommend The Body Shop White Head Band, its a simple product but one that is so useful, I have washed it several times as I sometimes manage to get foundation or powder on it, I just do it by hand in soapy water or on a regular wash in the machine, either way it washes up fine, hasn't stretched at and remains lovely and soft.
In my opinion this was worth he £3.50 I paid for it and would make a really useful gift, its certainly earned 5 stars.
I have previously mentioned in reviews that I am not in any way confident or even competent at applying make up, I find the whole process fairly tricky and I do not think this is ever going to improve. I have, however, mastered the basics and will now generally apply foundation, concealer, eye shadow and mascara and of course some lip gloss or lipstick before venturing out. I have always found hair getting in the way to be an issue though and that is why I purchased this incredibly useful hairband from The Body Shop.
It costs £3.50 full price although you can occasionally pick these up on eBay (in sealed packaging no less) for less than this so it is worth shopping around.
For your money you get a wonderfully white (see how long that lasts!) soft material headband which is fairly stretchy and easy to use. If you put it all the way over your head so that it is hanging round your neck you can then pull the front back up over your face and sit it behind your ears, effectively holding all hair (even the short annoying whispy bits) back off your face.
Luckily this item is washing machine friendly so that when you do inevitably get foundation on it (as I already have a couple of times) you can easily wash it out and return it to its bright white glory. This is an invaluable tool if you are not confident in applying make up as it gives you one less thing to worry about and gives you an easy ability to ensure your face is looking evenly covered.
You could of course also use this when using facial products such as face packs or even if you are just having a good old cleanse and moisturise, in any event it will stop your hair getting product in it.
Now that I have one I do not know how I ever coped without it, I use it that much! I like this Body Shop one as it is from a retailer whose values I appreciate and whilst you probably can pick up cheaper versions that this it is a great quality item at a pretty good price too.
I have quite a strict beauty and skincare routine and I get through at least one face mask a week and as I have very long, thick hair it can sometimes get a little messy!
I used to just tie my hair back in a hairband but found that strands of hair would come free and get coated in face mask, so I decided to get a proper headband. I bought this around a month ago when The Body Shop had a half price sale on, so I only paid £1.75 which is a real bargain in my opinion! This retails at £3.50, which is a reasonable price; it's not the cheapest but in my opinion it is worth paying that bit extra as all of the products that I've bought from The Body Shop have been good quality as well as long lasting, with this being no exception.
The head band comes folded up and wrapped in a clear, thin piece of plastic-like material which has The Body Shop logo on it. The headband itself is extremely basic in design - it's white (no other colours are available as far as I know) and it is made of 100% fair trade cotton. The head band is soft to the touch and as it's quite thick it does feel really good quality. As it's so soft it feels comfortable against my skin, and because it's elasticated it adjusts to the shape and size of my head. It fits snuggly while not feeling at all tight. I like that although the head band is elasticated, it's not overlly stretchy meaning it doesn't feel like it might fall off or slip down, and it holds the hair out of my face securely.
The head band doesn't feel uncomfortable at all and I actually feel quite relaxed when I have it on, and it makes face masks feel a little more 'special' - as if I'm in a spa or something! I always tie my hair up when I'm using this and I then put it on, and it ensures that no stray pieces of hair get in the way/get wet etc when I am applying my face mask. I also use the head band in the mornings when washing my face to ensure that my hair doesn't get wet or get any facial scrub on it and in the evenings when completing my skincare routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising; this makes sure that none of the lotions & potions get onto my hair and it is much more effective at this than just a hair bobble would be.
The head band is fine to go in the washing machine and mine's been washed a few times now and I've had no problems with it staining. It also hasn't lost its softness and the texture hasn't changed, nor has the elastic lost its shape, which I think is good. The headband is really easy to clean even without been washed as when blobs of face mask etc accidently get on it, it just sits there rather than sinking in so it can be wiped straight off. Overall, this is a really handy and good quality head band and I highly reccommend it.
I usually have my hair quite short but have decided to let it grow for a while as I have always loved to have longer hair. Mind you it eventually starts to annoy me and I end up having it cut and then regretting it! Typical woman eh - can't make her mind up!
Having longer hair gave me a problem when I was cleansing or exfoliating the skin on my face as my hair kept getting stuck to whatever product I was using. I tried tying it back in a pony tail but it wasn't quite long enough and wisps kept escaping from the band and causing problems. Add this to the fact that I have a fringe and you will see that I needed to find something to help with the problem.
I am a great fan of The Body Shop products and often have a wander round our local branch here in Llandudno, especially if there are any special offers going. One day I was doing just that when I noticed the Body Shop White Head Band priced at £3.50 and I thought - that's just what I need!
The price to me was £3.15 as I have a Love Your Body Card which allows me 10% off everything I buy from The Body Shop so that made the purchase a bit less extravagant.
The band itself is made from 100% cotton and is washable which is a good thing as it can get quite grubby when applying makeup. The material is a double thickness and is elasticated. It is very soft to the touch so it doesn't irritate the skin in any way.
To use the head band all you have to do is to put it over your head so that it is around your neck like a necklace and then bring it up over your face so that it pulls all your hair away from your face. It now sits across the top of your forehead, just off the skin, down the sides of your face and around the back of your neck under your hair. Your face is now completely free of hair so that you can do whatever it is you need to do without making a mess of your hair!
I use mine mainly when I am exfoliating the skin on my face. It is easy to wear as the elastication in the material is just right to keep the hair off my face without being so tight that it restricts the blood supply! It feels really soft on my skin so it is very comfortable to wear.
I used to end up with bits of facial scrub all around the edges of my hair and my fringe always had to be washed after exfoliating but, with this band, I can concentrate on what I am doing rather than having to worry about whether I am messing up my hair. That way my hair stays clean and tidy and I get the best result for my skin.
I rarely wear makeup these days but this band is also very useful for that too as it means that I can get my foundation to look natural around my hairline without ending up with half of it actually on my hair!
At £3.50 I suppose this sounds a bit expensive for what it is but when you think that, since it is washable and it looks brand new after washing, it will last for years it doesn't seem that bad after all. I am very pleased that I purchased mine and would recommend it to anyone.
I received this handy headband in a Body Shop gift basket this Christmas and was pleased to receive it as an old one I had was getting a bit threadbare. Ok, so its not a headband to wear to the gym or a headband that you would wear out for the day but it is the type of headband that you can use as part of your make up/beauty routine.
The headband itself is 100% cotton and is in one continuous loop. It has a bit of stretch to it so when you put it over your head and then pull it over your hair and face it stretches well and then holds itself in place quite well without being really tight. I hate having tight things on my head as after a few minutes they always give me a headache and given that I will use this headband when I want to take a nice relaxing, pampering bath a headache is not something I need.
I use this headband for a number of different things I do with my beauty routine. I have mentioned I like to use it when I take a bath. I like my bath to be really full and steaming and sometimes if you get into a bath like this with no protection for your hair it can get wet and then go frizzy. I don't always wash my hair when I take a bath and so like to keep it protected from the water. This headband really helps with that. I put my hair up in a high ponytail and then pull the hairband around the top and back of my hair so it can absorb any water that may get near it in the bath. This headband works well for that. I will also sometimes do a face mask when I am in the bath too and when you have this headband on it will protect my hair from bits of the face mask getting into it and also gives me a bit of protection when I wash/peel the mask off as well.
When I am putting on make up I also wear this hair and. I have done my hair by this point so I want to keep it nice whilst I wash my face and then put my make up on.
The headband keeps my hair back and away from my face and makes my make up routine quick and easy.
Like all of The Body Shop products this simple head band is socially aware. It is made by Teddy Exports in southern India and is a fair trade product. Each product is carefully checked by hand, and the company has a 100% quality inspection record.
For £3.99 it's a very handy item to have in your bathroom.
