Tigi bed head control freak conditioner
I have over time bought quite a lot of the Tigi products and bought this along with the shampoo because Little Miss and myself do tend to have quite unruly hair. I don't know if it does make a difference but I do like to buy matching shampoo and conditioner
WHAT DOES IT PROMISE?
This is stage two in the effort to control hair, with stage 1 obviously being the shampooing. This conditioner apparently keeps tangles and frizz at bay and promises to shorten dry time while giving you control over your hairs performance.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
This is a 250 ml bottle of the stuff, which comes in a green bottle with all of the instructions and information on the back of the bottle. It has a pump action dispenser which isn't actually my favourite type of dispenser because I always think that quite a lot of the product can be wasted.
The conditioner itself, like the shampoo, is thick and when dispensed quite gloppy, but it does smell lovely, very fruity, floral, and it's the kind of smell I hope will linger on my hair and make it have that just washed smell. The smell is exactly the same as the shampoo so with these products I really do like to use both so other scents don't overpower this one.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...
This bottle costs around the £7 mark, so not the cheapest conditioner on the market but it does last for ages.
I haven't really seen it in shops and bought mine directly online, where it is widely available. It is also available In hair salons. There are often offers on the products so it's worth shopping around.
USING THE PRODUCT...
THe conditioner should be applied to wet clean hair, so directly after shampooing. To use it, the conditioner should be worked through hair and massaged into hair to make a lather. It should then be rinsed out of hair.
When I massage it into hair, it does lather up relatively easily but for me it feels a bit too thick to be really moisturising. When I first dispense the product I don't think it feels at all creamy and not at all like a conditioner should feel.
It is also quite difficult to rinse the conditioner completely out of my hair and when I comb it after towel drying, I don't think my hair feels especially conditioned, and the comb doesn't run too easily through my hair.
The conditioner, like the shampoo, smells great and this nice smell does linger in hair. It's not a very moisturising conditioner and I can find that my hair feels dry after use. After I use it, it doesn't really feel as though my hair has been conditioned, and although it smells great, it doesn't really look or feel soft and conditioned.
It is recommended that serum is used as stage three, but even though I applied a serum to my hair, this product didn't really work for my hair. My daughter has greaser hair than me and she likes this conditioner, but it still leaves the ends of her very long thick hair looking a bit frizzy.
As for styling, I certainly haven't noticed that it makes hair more manageable or reduces drying time, but I always think these kind of claims are quite over rated anyway.
A great smelling conditioner, which is quite expensive and which certainly doesn't deliver on all claims.
Thanks for reading
Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Conditioner is a product that I have used on a number of occasions, and I first used it after it was recommended to me by my sister. I do, unfortunately have slightly wild and frizzy hair and so anything that helps keep my head under control is definitely worth a try. As this conditioner claims to be able to tame wild hair, this seemed like an ideal product for me to try. A 250ml bottle of Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Conditioner cost me £6.15 for from Salons Direct (www.salonsdirect.com) which is not cheap for a bottle of conditioner, but it does last quite a long time and so it's not too bad price wise.
The conditioner comes in a transparent plastic bottle that has information and directions printed clearly on it. The bottle itself is one of the types where the conditioner is pumped out by pressing the pump at the top of the bottle and then dispensing the conditioner in your hand. The pump works well and I usually find that I need about three pump-fulls in order to get the amount I need for one application. The probably equals about 15mls in total per application.
The conditioner itself is lime green and it is very thick and gloopy - much more so that other conditioners I have used. Although it is thick and gloopy, it does spread nicely and it's easy to distribute evenly though my hair. The conditioner smells tropical, a mixture of pineapple and papaya, which is a nice smell but a little bit sickly - although once it is washed off the fragrance is much more subtle and it just takes on a fresh and fruity smell.
Unlike other conditioners, this is designed to be used before washing your hair - although I'm not really sure of the reason for this. I tend to leave the conditioner on for about 5 minutes because I find that this gives maximum effect. It rinses out easily and without any problem - and afterwards I shampoo as normal. I do find that using the Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Conditioner does leave my hair feeling slightly more tamed and manageable. The frizz does seem to be considerably less, although it does not get rid of the frizz completely. I think one of the issues is that I find I can only use this about once a week because otherwise my hair tends to get a bit greasy, so while it might be an intensive conditioner, it might be a little too intensive for daily use.
Overall, I think this conditioner does work well and if you have unmanageable hair then it's worth giving it a go.
I bought this to go with the Control Freak serum I had been using for a couple of weeks. I found it really good and thought I would give all of the steps a go as recommended by Bed Head. I got this as part of a 2 for 1 offer in the salon it cost me £20 for the 750ml bottle which is the salon size with the pump dispenser. You can also pick up Bed Head products cheap online on ebay and amazon.
The conditioner promises to keep tangles and frizz in check as well as smoothing hair and reducing drying time.
The conditioner is bright green in colour and has a yummy pineapple smell as soon as you dispense it. You don't need to use a lot unlike other conditioners as it seems quite concentrated. It has a differecnt texture to other conditioners, rather than feeling creamy and smooth it is gloppy and a bit like jelly. Tigi claim it has a sliquid technology perhaps this explains the consistency. I used this after the shampoo and left it in for about 4-5 minutes. When I rinsed the conditioner out my hair felt clean and it didn't feel like there was any residue left which I sometimes find with certain conditioners no matter how much I rinse my hair.
After towel drying my hair I found that my blow drying time was reduced, I was sceptical about this, but my hair appeared to dry flatter and smoother than normal. I didn't feel that my hair was as conditioned as when I have used other products, I think this is due to the fact that the conditioner is clear, this might sound like an odd theory but I always find conditioners are better when they are creamy!!
As I have said in my other reviews I have bleached hair which is very wavy and needs a good product as well as attacking with GHD's after every wash. This did make my hair straight and more managable, I was a little disappointed with the fact it didn't feel as soft as normal. But I would definately use this again. My hair kept it's style and even in damp conditions it did not frizz.
My hair can be really wild sometimes and while at my local salon I cam across the range of TGI products I first tried the serum and then ventured on to the shampoo and conditioner as the serum was such a success. The conditioner to me looks exactly like my hair serum except its a bit of a darker shade of green. It comes in a 250 ml bottle and cost me around £9. It has a twist noozel for applications which makes it mess free on application. The bottle is clear so it is easy to see how much conditioner is left.
I only had to use a small amount in my palm at first it felt a little sticky but as I rubbed it through my hair it lost that sticky feeling and my hair began to feel soft straight away. I left it in my hair for a minute and then washed out.It came out very easily so no hassle of having to rinse many times. The conditioner itself smells very sweet and fruity but at the same time its not overpowering. It is noticeable even after I have straightened my hair and last well through the day. At the end of the day if I held my nose to my hair I could still smell it just no where near as strong as after I had just washed it.
To be honest my hair did seem a little tamer I am not sure there is anything that will make my hair completely frizz free but by using this and the shampoo it did a very good job. My hair was shiny more easy to style and in all looked lovely and fresh. I thought it could be either the shampoo or conditioner but my shampoo actually ran out before this. So I then used it with a different shampoo and my hair was still more controlled and well looking afterwards.so I'm sure this conditioner played a big part in that. My bottle of conditioner lasted around a month with near on daily use so you definitely get your moneys worth. I like to buy this for my hair when it needs that little bit of care and I need a little help on making it a bit sleeker.
I love Tigi products. I am the kind of person who has 'problem' hair. It is neither curly nor straight. It's sort of wavy in a sticky uppy way. Every morning i have a fight with my hair straightners to try and make it look half presentable. I first found this product after noticing how much softer my hair was after a cut and blow dry at my local salon. I asked them what they used and this is what they highly recommend. After showing me this conditioner, i immediately bought some and began using it straight away. This product is an absolute miricle! Tigi Bedhead control freak leaves my hair feeling soft and managable and the difference is amazing. I use this with the shampoo to get the best results. It is so much easier to straighten and style and seems to hold my hair in place for the rest of the day. It also smells wonderful and is really noticable. i think the only downside is the price. At my hairdressers it's just under £10 a bottle and i'm not sure where else it's stocked. These days i only buy it for a 'treat' but after using this, but it puts the supermarket brands to shame.
I have had this in my cupboard for ages after Ii bought it in the hairdressers with something else in a little moment of weakness. I have been challenging myself to use up all of the lotions and potions in my bathroom before I buy anymore and I recently finished my other conditioners, so had to open this.
I no longer have the matching shampoo but that doesnt seem to be a problem, it still leaves my hair feeling incredibly soft and moisturised. It is supposed to be to calm and control frizzy wild hair and minimise the signs of damage and as a self confessd GHD addict, I can say it definitely does these things. When I use this, I dont HAVE to straihten my hair as it leaves it so soft and it seems to make my hair lookk less bushy which is always good! A product which actually does what it claims, and does it well is rare in my opinion!
The first thing that hit me with this was the colour. Its bright, but really not that appealing! It is a lucrid green colour as shown in the pictture and, like another reviewer, I can only really liken the colour to snot. Eww.
Getting over the thought of using snot on my hair, when I open the bottle (its one of those where you hav to pull up the top and it aquirts out - good as there is little mess and not a lid to lose!) the smell is just amazing. I dont really know what it is meant to be, but to me it smells like coconut and pinapple, a true smell of paradise. I love this smell so much I have invited people into my bathroom and made them smell it!
The conditioner is thick and it comes out well so I dont seem to waste it. It slides over my hair easily and smoothly and is easy to wash off. I have found too that it is easy to wash off and leaves no build up like some other products do. My hair doesnt even really feel/look greay for about 3 days between washes (never really leave it that long though!).
This I think cost about £7/8 something from the hairdressers but I think no wyou could buy it cheaper online. Like I saidm ihave a cupboard of products to use first but when I've finally done that, I would probably buy this one again!
Having recently expanded my hairdressing salon, I have just taken on TIGI products such as Bed head and catwalk hair products to sell and use in addition to the Matrix brand that I was already stocking.
As with anything new I introduce I like to try it out and test the products capabilities before selling them and recommending them to clients, because I would hate to sell any product that I have not tried and tested as these can be very expensive to buy and I would hate for the clients to be disappointed.
I have recently tried the Tigi Control freak conditioner form the bed head range, as this is a product that advertises that I would help maintain my wild hair.
This Tigi bed head control freak shampoo is a completely colour safe conditioner that helps prolong any colour treated hair, Having recently dyed my hair chocolate brown from bleach blonde this has helped maintain my hairs colour and reduced the colour fade, which is very common what covering previously stripped hair.
This conditioner advertises that it repairs damaged dry hair which added moisturising agents that lock into the hair, this than forms a seal that helps reduce frizz and tames unruly curls or kinks in your natural hair.
The conditioner has added straightening benefits that help seal the hair leaving it looking nice and straight without having to worry about it going frizzy on damp days. This is not a miracle conditioner and will not give you straight hair unless you hair is naturally straight so hair straighteners will be needed if straightening is something you have to do to get the sleek look, but this certainly helps keep your hair straight after it has been styled.
This is lime green in colour and looks like green snot and the consistency also makes you think this as it is very thick and very sticky, but if you can get past that I would say that it is a very good product and I will not hesitate in recommending this to my clients.
As with the shampoo this comes in a 250ml clear plastic bottle that has a pull up lid similar to that on a drinks bottle, this makes it very easy to actually get the product out of the bottle but getting the dregs out of the bottom maybe a problem as this cannot be stood up on end.
The down side to this is that is smells of pineapple and I have to say it is very strong and lingers on your hair for a while after washing, so this may be a problem for some but the overall product does exactly what t says on the bottle so I would still recommend this for unruly hair types.
This conditioner is applied to pre shampooed hair, for the best results apply a small amount to your hair and comb it through before rinsing. As this is very thick you only need a small amount for maximum results, I feel that your hair will become very greasy if too much is used as this may be difficult to rinse it out properly.
If you want a deep conditioning treatment I recommend that you stand the bottle in red hot water for a few minutes before applying it to your hair, leave the conditioner on your hair for at least ten minutes and rinse thoroughly and I promise you will notice immediate results.
PRICE / AVAILABILITY
This TIGI bed head control freak conditioner retails for 8.95 for a 250ml bottle, which is very expensive but worth every penny, as this really is a great product and does exactly as it says on the bottle.
Many of you may be put off buying from a salon as many feel that products are well over priced, but I am going to let you in to a little secret we only make £2.50 - £3.00 on each of the products sold so it you manage to find this for £5.95 - £6.45 grab it as you are getting it a better price that it actually costs to buy it from a supplier.
I have been wowed by this product as it had prolonged my dulling hair colour giving it s nice even shiny that makes my hair look really shiny and healthy, although it is never usually any of these things so I am very impressed with it so far.
This has made my hair much more manageable and I no longer need to use straightening products such as serums, sprays and lockdown sprays to stop it frizzing when I leave the house, so it has saved my time and money in the long run as all I need to maintain my hair is this shampoo and conditioner.
This is expensive but it certainly works and never in my lf have I come across a product that works as advertised, but this has certainly hit the spot with my hair.
The only thing I hate about this is the colour and the smell as it is very overpowering, but I can put up with this as it really helps my hair.
I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone with frizzy hair that is difficult to manage on damp days, this is ideal for any hair types and colours.
I went to the hairdressers the other week and as I was getting my hair washed and cut the hairdresser threw in the usual comments (probably not true) trying to get me to buy some of their shops products. She said my hair was dry and needed extra moisture and suggested I buy the Bed Head control freak 2 piece pack containing the shampoo, Conditioner and Serum. So I will write about the conditioner here.
This is what it says on the bottle
Bead head (Tigi) control freak conditioner
Frizz control and straightener
Control freak step two - condition to keep the tangles and frizz in check. Radical slickquid (I don't know what it means, It is on the bottle) texture. Luscious fragrance. Control freak cuts the dry time when ether you style, straighten or curl. Finally a conditioner that gives you serious authority over your hairs performance. To use - Work thought damp hair, rinse, continue regime with control freak serum
Okay and this is what I personally think about this product. Since I have been using it I have had a lot of compliments on how my hair looks extremely healthy and shiny.
The product itself smells amazing. I would describe the smell as an orange/pineapple smell.
Since using it I have no split ends, but to be honest that could be to the recent hair cut I had
Although I have had the conditioner a few weeks, the bottle is still quite full and I think it will last many more months, I was my hair every day and only a small amount of the conditioner is needed to condition the hair.
This product is made by tigi who are well known for providing salon quality hair products. Although I would normally spend £4/5 on a conditioner, paying £8 was defiantly worth the money because I can feel the difference in my hair
The conditioner is a very thick consistency. Only a small amount is needed. It almost looks like shampoo rather than a creamy conditioner
How I would explain the container is like a sports think, where you pull the lid up and squeeze it out.
The conditioner is probably best used with the shampoo also, but it can be used alone with a different brand shampoo
I purchased it from a salon, and many salons in the UK stock it, Tony and guy, razors edge etc
You can also purchase it from the Tigi website
I have used this conditioner along with the control freak shampoo and serum to try and tame my wavy highlighted hair. It was recommended to me by my hairdresser.
The conditioner is quite light and fluid and has a very distinct sweet, pineapple smell, which I loved, the conditioner detangled my hair well and when used with the serum, made my hair a lot more manageable Bed Head Control Freak is the best. It smells great! It makes my hair look light and bouncy. The conditioner makes it so soft.
Control Freak Conditioner repairs and moisturises the hair to seal and reduce frizz. It is suitable for all hair types, lengths and styles.
For beautiful super straight hair, this conditioner will keep tangles and frizz under control.
Work thoroughly through damp hair and rinse. Continue the regime with Control Freak Products.
It is not a cheap conditioner but it works wonder and is well worth it. I would definitely recommend it. ! Use it with the Shampoo, Control Freak Serum and Control Freak Extra Extra Straight and you have four great products that give straightness to you hair.
It's a must have for any girl who wants straight hair.
Control Freak Step Two / condition to keep tangles and frizz in check / Radical slickquid texture / Luscious fragrance / Control Freak cuts the dry time whether you style straight or curly / Finally, a conditioner that gives you serious authority over your hair's performance / How to use: Work thoroughly through damp hair / Rinse / Continue the regimen with Control Freak Serum /
