==Tigi Foxy Curls Extreme Mousse==
I was bought this mousse as part of a gift set from one of my girlfriends on my last birthday and I thought it sounded right up my street and something that I would indeed purchase myself. I cant say how much was actually paid for it but to pick up a can of this 250 ml product you are looking at paying on average around the £8 mark. This price is about what I would expect to pay for a product such as this from a brand and at first I thought it was something that I would purchase again once it had run out.
The look and design of the can I feel on the whole is really quite good. The purple and metallic colours do seem to work very well together and give it and edgy modern look. The lid is removed easily and the pump is not too tough to depress in order for the mousse to be shot out. The can does need a good shake each and every time the mousse is to be used and this means that the product will come out as mousse rather than a loose liquid.
There is a very distinctive yet mild aroma to the mousse which isn't too appealing to me as you can smell some of the chemicals that are in the product very slightly but I feel this is general to most mousses that I have tried. Because the smell isn't very strong it isn't something that is noticeable after you have applied the mousse and dried the hair so to be fair this isn't a major issue.
This mousse is said to control the curls of the hair without weighing them down and it will leave the style of the hair in place all throughout the day. It prevents frizzy hair and there is a heat protection element to the mousse too. So it all sounds pretty good but I found it was just a shame that it didn't work as well as I thought it would.
I always comb my hair after washing it and then with this mousse I would apply a small ball sized amount to my hands and then finger comb this ball through my hair and them again use the comb to make sure all the hair is coated with the mousse. After having done this I will then scrunch the hair and if necessary add an more mousse if needed. I will then diffuse my hair with a diffusing hair dryer and work the curls accordingly.
This product was easy to work through the hair and at first I thought it was going to be a good one but once I had dried the hair it ended up looking rather crispy. I thought I may well have applied too much of the mousse and so on the next application used less but it still left the hair feeling rather rigid and unnatural. This of course did mean that the style was held fairly well but I didn't like the falseness that it gave my curls. I have tried using less and less but it seems because it is trying to give ultimate hold this results it in the hardness that I really don't like.
I have had this mousse since around March and the can is more than half full and its probably one of those products that I can't see myself using up and I will either pass it on to mum or throw it away. The look it gives my hair is really not a natural one and as I tend to aim for a beach curl look rather than the fake perm look I can't say I will be rushing to use this product again. For these reasons you can guess why I am going to award the lowest score of 1 out of 5 and not recommend it. It may look and sound good but in reality its no better than a cheap Poundland mousse!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read
I have brought this foxy curls contour cream many times as i find it is great for my hair type, it comes in a funny shapped bottle with a dispensing top, bed head products can be a little pricey so i would recommend shopping around before buying the first bottle you see of this, i managed to get a bottle on offer at TKmaxx for £5 which was a really good buy.
To use this contour cream to its best ability you can use it on wet or dry hair and it does state on the bottle it works best if you use it with other products from the foxy curls range but i find that not to be true, you apply a small amount of cream to your hands and rub them together then apply evenly to hair, you really dont need to use a lot of product as you find a little goes along way and you scrunch in to hair and leave product to dry. If you use to much product it will make your hair clump together and go hard trust me lesson has been learnt. I find all the foxy curl range to smell really nice it has a smell like fruity bubble gum and smells really yummy!!
I have used the foxy curl range for some time now and i find all of them to work really well and if used correctly with using small amounts at a time then it lasts a really long time.
Ok so my hair type - Long thick, very curly and very frizzy from root to tip!! I have tried a lot of products so i can just 'wash and go' and save myself the extra hour in the morning and not straighten my hair but at the same time saving my hair from an attack of 240 degree heat daily and risking A LOT of breakage! I found this on Amazon after searching for Tigi products (they have always been good to me in the past) Its a nice shape purple bottle, shaped like a curvy hour glass and has a pump on the top very much like a handwash which is so easy to use! It dispenses at a nice rate so you don't get too much, which comes in handy if your hair isnt very thick or you have naturally straight hair and are using curling tongs. The bottle itself is really funky like most of the tigi products, so will look funky in your bathroom/dressing table and wont look unsightly. The pump does come locked and you have to give it a little twist when you first open it to lift the pump up so i would be careful as it can spill a tiny bit!
Price and product size -
I paid £8.50 for this on amazon and chose the free super saver delivery but i bought it on the Thursday and received it Monday so superfast. It comes in a 200ml bottle and you only need a little bit at a time so should last a long time.
Ingredients, smell and texture -
As per the amazon website the ingredients are -
CRC (Curl Responsive Complex) Technology - Defines, shapes and supports curls -
Superior Styling Polymers - Promotes curl hold and encourages soft, manageable curls
Sunflower Seed Extract - UV and thermal protection
Jojoba Seed Oil - Eliminates frizz, smoothes curls, enhances shine
Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) - Fortifies and moisturises
Glycogen - Reinforces hair for added strength
Shea Butter - Adds shine
Green Tea Extract - Natural antioxidant
Sweet Almond - Adds shine moisture and helps replenish
The smell is wonderful, it smells like sweets with a hint of berries! Just gorgeous, you can smell this on your hair throughout the day and i have had people complement me on my shampoo!! haha!
The texture is very thick to BE CAREFUL if your hair is thin or naturally straight as it could weigh it down and too much could make you feel like you need to wash your hair again, I however found 2 pea sized amount perfect for my long, thick, frizzy hair!
Like i have a said you have to be really careful you don't use too much as it can make your hair feel a bit too geasy and like you need to wash it again, so a small amount is more than enough. I found with my hair type (as previously mentioned) that i only needed 2 pea sized amounts, after washing my hair i give it a very rough towel dry so its still quite damp brushed through to get out any knots and then split my hair in to 2 sections on either side and use a pea sized amount on either. I found it works best if i pump a small amount and then rub my hands together and then work it through with my fingers tips from tips first then finally when i only have a tiny bit left on my fingers gently work a tiny bit in to teh roots ( My hair is very thick so thsi doesnt make it greasy but it can if your hair is thinner or straight so probably shouldnt be put on your roots!!
After i have done it both sides i then leave my hair to dry naturally, you can blow dry with a diffuser or dry and use tongs whichever is best for you i like to use heat as least as i can!
I found that my hair was amazingly NOT Frizz at all!! The curls were defined, big bouncy loose and definately not frizzy and that after leaving my hair to dry naturally, i even had someone at work asked me if i had used curlers as my curls looked so nice! My hair smelt nice all day and felt soft and light! And not at all heavy like i was expecting! I used it on my friend last week wehn we went out and she has mid length thin-ish hair and i blow dried after i applied and then used the tongs and it was even better for her than expected, the tongs held the curls well and they were lovely and soft and stayed the night and didnt drop which i found really suprising as her hair is so straight!
Apart form the obvious places such as hairdressers, amazon and ebay, you can also get this pretty much on any hair and beauty website, i found it best to do a shopping comparison on google. Some places do free delivery especially amazon.
Overall i was really impressed :0)
Thanks for reading!!
As I mentioned in my last review I recently bought a new pair of hair curlers and have started using them fairly regularly. The only problem is I have naturally very straight hair and when I curl it with tongs the curls seem to drop out within about half hour - even if Ive used products on my hair to keep them in. Luckily when I ordered the curlers I also invested in couple of products from the Bed Head range that are made specifically for curled hair - whether thats naturally curly or otherwise. One of the products was this 'TIGI Foxy Curls Contour Cream' as I thought if anything was going work on keeping my curls in place all night it was probably a product like this. I think Ive found the perfect product here for keeping curls in place Im very glad I tried this one out.
Price: £7 -£11 - Prices vary greatly on all TIGI products so do shop around.
Stockists: Amazon, the TIGI website & most hair salons also stock this brand.
Other Info: This promises of this cream are actually very simple - to define curls, control them and help them stay in place longer, prevents frizz & adds shine. So simple really yet it offers a little bit more than the average cream/serum.
*As far as I can tell this product can be used on any hair type - so it doesnt matter whether your hair is naturally curly or it has been made that way with curlers/tongs so you can still use this and it should work just as well either way - although obviously I cant comment on the effects on naturally curly hair.*
The packaging for this product, as with most of the TIGI range is probably what catches peoples eye in the first place and their packaging is certainly unqiue - they take up so much precious shelf room though aha. Anyway the bottle for this is dark purple un colour and has a large bubble shape at the bottom and then a slightly smaller one at the top. On top of that is a white pump - the kind you would expect to find on a face wash - so if you are planning to travel around with this Id put it in a plastic bag first as there is no cap on the pump - Ive never transported this one so I cant really comment on its security but Id bag it personally. On the front and back of the bottle is all the information you could need about the product - directions for use, ingredients, shelf life etc so any questions you have about the product overall should be answered on the bottle. One thing I like is the bottle is slightly transparent so you can see exactly how much product you have left after each application.
I dont normally add ingredients to my reviews but in the case of TIGI products the ingredients are directly related to the results so I think its important to add them. So the main ingredients and their results are - [found on the amazon website]
- CRC (Curl Responsive Complex) Technology - Defines, shapes and supports curls
- Superior Styling Polymers - Promotes curl hold and encourages soft, manageable curls
- Sunflower Seed Extract - UV and thermal protection
- Jojoba Seed Oil - Eliminates frizz, smoothes curls, enhances shine
- Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) - Fortifies and moisturises
- Glycogen - Reinforces hair for added strength
- Shea Butter - Adds shine
- Green Tea Extract - Natural antioxidant
So basically this will make your curls look better, keep them that way for longer, make your hair shinier and stronger and even protect your hair against anything that can harm it in the long run so its a cream with a lot of benefits really.
To use this product you simply pump the desired amount out of the bottle [I have very long hair and I think just one pump is more than enough for me to get maximum results] and then smooth it through towel-dried hair - Id say try and get this as evenly as you can and then brush through to make sure it covers all of your hair. This cream is really thick and creamy so you only need a very small amount - too much will make your hair look greasy and have the total opposite effect that your hoping for so less is more in this case! I guess this could be used for when you are simply styling your hair without curls - as it will still add shine and offer the thermal protection I need but I have only personally used this on my hair when I am using curling tongs on it once it has dried. Once you have applied this to your hair you can then simply blowdry it as normal and then I would get my curling tongs and make a start!
I think the scent of Bed Head products is always worth mentioning because they always smell so amazing and thats one of the things that make me want to buy more from the range. The scent of this cream is described as 'Flirty Fruity Fusion' and even though that could describe it I think this is more berry scented than anything else. This smells like a strawberry yogurt on my hair and the scent reminds me of rhubarb so I think sweet berry or a description like that is more fitting - I love the smell of this though and the berry scent is much nicer than I expected. I think this is one of the nicest TIGI products Ive tried - fragrance wise - because the scent is exactly my taste and it lasts on my hair all day long which is an achievment when Im a smoker, normally perfumes and scents dont last 5 minutes on my skin. This one is gorgeous and one for everyone I reckon.
The ultimate test of this cream was when I used curling tongs on my hair - normally the curls dont define as much as I would like them to and the ones that do work drop out very quickly so if a product can stop that from happening I think Im onto a winner - and I think I am with this one. When I appled this and startied using the tongs I could see straight away that the curls were more defined and they were really soft and bouncy - it looked as if they could be natural rather than made with tongs. My hair looked really bouncy, healthy and shiny and even my split ends looked better. But Im even happier to sya that this does help keep the curls in place and tight for much longer than usual. I managed to go on a whole night out and my hair still looked just as good as it did at the start of the night when I got home so this passed the test with flying colours in my opinion. I cant comment on what results people with naturally curly hair will get from this product but all I can see is if it works this well on my 'fake' curly hair imagine what natural curls will be like. 100% recommend to people with curly hair or if its poker straight and needs a bit of oomph! as this product will give you that look in seconds.
Thanks For Reading.

Every now and then we all like to treat ourselves to a different product or two - particularly when at the hairdressers where we can "try before we buy". I have particularly difficult hair - thick, wavy and generally unmanageable. I had found a shampoo and conditioner which successfully managed my situation but was always open to an alternative.
I first noticed a change when my hair was being washed - the smell of Tooty Fruitees wafted over me. Trust me - if you are on a diet then anything smelling of food gets a second sniff! The whole Foxy Curls range has that Tooty Fruity smell and seems to lift your spirits!
After you have washed your hair then a small mount of the Contour cream is fingered through your hair. As the bottle claims, the product helps to control your mad locks while holding the curls in place. Suddenly you have a structure to your hair which looks as if it should be there rather than a frizzy mess.
At around £8 per bottle, you use such a small amount and this should last you a number of months (at least four in my case). Not only will you end up with gorgeous hair but it will smell lovely all day - everywhere you go people will be asking you "whats that smell?" Silly I know but true.
This is a great product for girls with curly hair!! I first became aware of it when my hairdresser used it on my hair. It really does work at defining and seperating curls. It dispenses through a pump, from a purple bottle (very fashionable this season!)
You need to be careful not to put too much on, as if you do your hair will go hard!!!
As always, claims best used with other Foxy Curl Products. To use apply contour cream to towel dried hair and then you can either let your hair dry naturally or use a hairdryer (with or without diffuser). I usually just rub between my palms and then scrunch into my hair, however if you are looking for really defined curls you can seperate the hair out and twist this product into your hair, and it works wonders!!
Bed Head products can be quite expensive so I would recommend shopping around for the best price. Often TK Maxx have a lot of these products in at great prices!! The bottle lasts quite a long time, and the results are great. However, whilst it does work, I'm sure you can create the same beautiful curls with a cheaper product!! But if you are having trouble finding a product which works for you, this is definitely worth a try.
Tigi Bed head is something that i swear by and withough i do not know what state my hair would look in as i manage to get all the suitable products that i need from Tigi Bed Head with their extensive range that they have available for all hair types.
Foxy Curls Contour cream is great for anyone with curly hair and especially if yo have fine hair and it is even better when teamed up with the other products in the foxy curls range.
The contour cream is used to define and give the curls more life leaving them with a soft and shiny finish. It also contains uv and heat protection to save your hair from the elements and protects it for the heat caused by drying and styling your hair and locks in and adds more moisture to you hair. Whilst holding your curls into place.
To use wash your hair and then apply contour cream to towel dried hair and then to get the best of of your curls let you hair either dry naturally or dry with a hairdryer using a diffuser.
I found that this product is available online at a better retail price that at your hair dressers so if you look online you will make some great savings.
I have borrowed this product from my sister who has curly hair and she thinks this product is great, i on the other hand used it when i curled my hair as i have a few kinks to my hair and this did not make any difference to my hair, so was a waste of time and an expensive product for minimal effect in my opinion.
