This blue cocktail for your hair is great but very sticky. Out of all the products I've tried with TIGI, this is my least favourite, but in no way, is it a product I wouldn't recommend because it does work.
This is serious styling for serious, short hair lovers.
This is applied to wet hair and then blown dry for an extreme textured look.
Trust me completely when I say 'don't add too much however small the amount is they recommend because it will look very limp and greasy. Get this right and it can texturize your hair very well.
But, and I think this was more me than the product, it took me ages to get the amount I needed right because to me it always looked limp and product overload.
I actually started to use this when my hair was dry and it worked better providing the blue gum doesn't show up in your hair!
The scent as always is super sensational and last all day.
This smooths away flyaway hair and if you want extreme twists and short spikes in your hair this will achieve this.
My major concern was, a few times, I fell asleep with this on and the product residue on my pillow was horrid and the oil wouldn't come off the pillow case even after a few washes plus if you were, as I did, lay back to watch TV or lean your head against something it restyled your hair and I felt it was impossible to style it back and had to wash it out in order to start again! It was so frustrating.
This is a strong hold and is good but too tricky to work out and enjoy:(
This product is literally our household star! My husband first bought it when the hairdresser used it on him a few years back. It seemed to be the only thing to gain control of his thick, wiry, slightly frizzy and very out of control hair! Before the Manipulator, he could use waxes for a couple of weeks after a haircut, and then had to switch to gels or stronger products to regain control after which it was a daily battle until his next 6-weekly haircut. The Manipulator is great for the whole hair growing / cutting cycle - it coats the hair but allows for you to restyle as necessary - throughout the day you can run your fingers through it, sometime with a bit of water, and it seems to re-activate. It never really gets too heavy or greasy.
It wasn't long before I discovered that the Manipulator is great for my (female) hair too!!! I have mid-length, fine, straight hair that I wear either blow-dried straight or in a ponytail. This product is great for finishing my style and sticking those flyaway bits of hair down on top. I just run a tiny bit through my hands until warm, then smooth at the roots and finally rub with my fingertips through the ends, after styling - looks great and smells really fresh and surfy (coconut?).
... and even for the kids too! My daughter's hair, a quick bit of this before school and it is much less crazy-hair-day when she comes home again! And my sons hair spikes well with it too.
We have now graduated to buying bigger pots of this from Amazon and it comes highly recommended by us, I will definitely be purchasing many more pots of this product in the future :-)
My hairdresser used this Tigi bed head manipulator on me and I liked what it did to my hair so I decided to buy myself some from the salon. I found out much later that I could have got this much cheaper online but at the time I paid around about £12 but I have since purchased it online for only £6 so it pays to shop around if you are interested in buying it.
The manipulator funky gunk is textured hair wax that promises to give hair definition and make it easy to manipulate into spikes an give you a modern funky hairstyle.
The consistency of the gunk is exactly that gunk. It looks and feels nothing like a normal wax will and is really thick and gooey to touch.
You need to be careful with how much of the gunk that you apply as too much and it will soak the hair and make it almost impossible to style until it dries and by that time the style will be set and you will need to wet your hair to get rid of the remaining gunk and start again.
It is much better to just start with a little of the gunk and rub and pat it between your hands before applying it to your hair. Once you have done this it makes the gunk much stickier and easier to apply evenly to your hair.
I only ever use this when my hair is dry as when it is wet the gunk just seems to absorb into the wet hair and it doesn't leave my hair sticky enough to be mouldable. When it is dry and I get the right amount on it leaves my hair looking great and I can usually style it anyway I want. I would only use this though when my hair is newly cut as when it is long and messy I find it difficult to get the exact style I want and I need something that is a little stronger than this.
When it is in my hair it manages to hold my style for the whole day but once it is dry that is the style that I am stuck with as it is difficult to run my fingers through my hair and restyle it. It also isn't good for rainy days as if you get your hair wet whilst using this the style will come completely undone and as mentioned you won't be able to just restyle when it is dry like with some waxes and will need to reapply it.
It also has a gorgeous smell which keeps my hair being fresh throughout the day. I really do like the Tigi funky gunk and have bought it on several occasions but it isn't the type of hair product that is able to be used on all hair lengths and I would say that it is definitely only suitable for short spikey styles and on anything longer you should perhaps look at buying something else instead.
I have written numerous reviews on Bedhead products now as I am an absolute addict. I think their products are better than any other and they look great on my dressing table!
I bought this product at the Clothes Show Live in Earls Court, London last summer. They had a number of products all at a reduced price. I paid £5 for this which I feel is quite cheap compared to the price I've paid for other Bedhead products. You can buy Bedhead products from most hair salons and on websites such as Amazon or eBay.
This is a compact little pot which a blue gooey substance. It is different to any wax I have used before. It isn't the easiest to apply as it is extremely sticky but once its on the results are great! It smells amazing, as do most of their products.
It is best applied onto dry hair, I'm not sure what the results would be on wet hair as it is very stick. It really defines layers, curls, or just gives texture to your ends. You can also use it as a volumizer for your roots as it works really well in creating lift.
I would recommend this product to any hair type but particularly shorter hair because you could really take advantage and use it on short layers to create super texture.
Bed head tigi manipulator is one of my favourite tigi products. The manipulator is a gunky wax for styling hair and unlike any other styling product i have ever tried.
A tub of manipulator costs around £12.99 and is available from most good hair salons as many now stock the tigi range however i bought the manipulator online from asos because it was cheaper at the time by a few pounds. Bed head manipulator comes in a small plastic tub with a screw on lid. It holds 2oz of gunk. I really like the tub as it is small enough to fit in my hand bag and its bright blue so looks pretty funky too.
On the label of the tub their are instructions on how to use this product and lists all the ingredients.
The manipulator is a funky thick texture very gooey, its not like wax or gel. The product is light blue in colour. I love the smell of the manipulator, i can smell coconut but a fruity smell at the same time, its divine. Manipulator should only be used to style dry hair. To use the manipulator only a small amount is needed on the finger tips and its best to pat it between both hands and finger tip's at this point it changes into small wax fibres then apply to your hair. I have straight hair that has some layers to it so my main use is to define my layers to make them stand out more. I usually rub on the ends of my hair to create my look however adding it to the roots of my hair gives volume and on the odd occasion i like to spike my hair up and out at the ends. The looks that can be created with the manipulator is never ending. Manipulator can be used for all hair types. I even spike my partners hair up with the manipulator and if my daughters hair is up i use it to smooth the fly away ends in place.
The main reason i love the manipulator is the hold it gives, it really lasts all day and night for me so i never need to use hairspray, even in the wind my hair stays in place. It is not heavy in the hair nor does it make my hair greasy even if i use too much of it. Manipulator is easy to wash out the hair too.
I love the manipulator and will continue to buy it in the future, i have had my small tub for around 15 months now and i'm nearly at the end of it but i do use it nearly everyday so lasts forever. Its worth every penny and i highly recommend this product.
If you had read my previous review, you would know that I do hold a lot of Tigi products in high regard, yet their wax stick wasn't for me. For me, this Bed Head Manipulator is one of my 'firm' favourites and it keeps my hair in shape with minimum fuss. Allowing me to spike my short hair up, or give me a punky look this fiber forming cream is such a versatile little pot of magic. The cream holds my hairstyle firm yet pliable and adds body and texture reliably.
I apply the cream by putting it onto my fingertips and then working it through my hair ensuring an even application. I find it is just as effective applying it to damp or dry hair, and with wet hair you can either let it dry naturally or blow dry it. I prefer to leave it to dry naturally because I don't want a hairdryer blowing it out of shape.
This cream offers good support and excellent texture - it can be applied once and last the full evening out with friends. It also gives a matte finish with a coconut scent which is subtle but noticable.
Apparently, the cream contains 4 key ingredients;
Ozokerite - Gives texture.
PEG-150 - Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate - Thickens hair.
PEG-45M - creates a silky feel and thickens hair.
Petrolatum - Conditions and moisurises.
Although I am unfamiliar with the above ingredients I do believe the cream gives a good hold, thickening hair and creating texture. I would recommend this product and at around £5 is worth every penny. The 50ml pot will last a while and especially if you have short hair it should be on your shopping list!
Having grown up with curly hair that I could do absolutely NOTHING with, hair products are a relatively new concept to me. It's really only since the invention of GHDs and a newfound interest in beauty/hair products that I've started using anything on my hair at all. I now have very short, straight, asymmetric hair so products are essential!! I first heard about Tigi Bed Head products from the internet, but the first one I tried was really disappointing. However I saw Manipulator on xsparkage's YouTube channel and decided to try it... so glad I did it!
Firstly, it smells absolutely gorgeous. It's kind of like a tropical fruity coconut smell and it's bright blue! It is described as "the funky gunk that rocks!" - "Be a Master Manipulator. Get whacked-out hair - spike, twistdreads or go punky. More mainstream? Get body and texture." and that's really a great description!
It's a really unique texture, very gloopy and gummy! However it gives a really nice finish - not sticky at all. My favourite thing about it is that it adds loads of volume and takes away that freshly washed look/feel of your hair which I HATE. It gives my hair a great texture, and has a really strong hold so the effects last for ages (though I do have to scrunch the roots every now and again)!
I will say, however, that this product isn't perfect. On the day it's brilliant, but the next day after sleeping on it, the product just made my hair look really greasy. So for this reason I'd only recommend this if you wash your hair everyday or if you are definitely going to wash it the night or day after use.
This product isn't terribly cheap, but it's not that expensive either and you only need to use a tiny bit so it's worth every penny as it will last you ages!
All in all, this is a really great product if you find your hair is flat or flyaway after washing and if you want to add a bit of texture and volume to your hair, or if you want to add spikes or a specific style that requires a lot of hold!
I've always had extremely straight hair and wanted to give the tasselled look a try, so I asked my stylist what she would recommend and she said that this product was one of her favourites. It's a little expensive at around £10 in salons but it can be found cheaper on the net and it's worth every penny for a professional product.
The 'gunk' itself comes in an attractive pot and is quite a strange consistency, it's not like a wax or a gel, or like anything I've used before really. It has a sticky matte feel to it but it's loose enough to spread through the hair, separating strands and making it wavy and textured. What I most like about it, is that doesn't make my hair greasy at all, even if I use quite allot. Despite the matte texture, it gives a great hold and really makes any guys hair look great (can't speak for the ladies :) It also smells really nice.
Bed Head manipulator has become my everyday styling product for giving my hair great texture, coupled with any strong hold hairspray, it offers a style that will last all day long and I can't think of any negatives apart from, you probably will need to use it with hairspray to make it last all day, but this is normal for this type of product.
I have never felt compelled to write a review about a product until now. This is possibly the best product I've ever used on my hair. I'm a black girl with a Rihanna-type hairstyle and this has done wonders for it. It leaves no residue, leaves my hair soft, shiny and with lots of manageability and control. Everyone has complimented my hair today. It's pricey, but worth it and you don't have to use a lot of it. I love it!
I love the Tigi products and this is one of my favourites, you use it as a styling product to twist the ends of your dry hair to style and achieve that funky sharp.
You don't kook like you get much when you biuy it but a little goes a long way, it feels like a glue and it is quite sticky in your hands but once it is on you hair it doesn't feel sticky at all.
The manipulator does last for quite a few hours, so if you has spiked up your hair it should last at least 4 hours before you would have to reapply.
Like all the other Tigi products, it smells absolutely divine and washes out really easily.
It costs around £10 for a jar but I have had my jar about 3 years now and it is still going strong
all in all one of my fave styling products
I love the Tigi Bedhead Manipulator and have been using it for quite a long time now. It is a great product for acheiving that just got out of bed (but secretly we all know it took hours) look. It is quick and easy to use and smells great - the mrs loves it. It is funky, modern and young!
This product is hard to describe, it isn't spray or gel, not like mousse or wax. Tigi describe it best and so I am going to steal the line from them it is "a funky gunk that rocks". Gunk is the best way to decribe this, or possibly putty which sounds much better.
It is hard to describe the small - I think it smells fruity but everyone I talk to seems to think it smells like something else.
In a morning or before a big night out simply put a pea sized amount in the palm of your hand that run your fingers through wet or dry hair.
Personally I nearly always put it in my hair after my shower in the morning or evening. As with all decent hair products it is a little more expensive that your regular run of the mill brands - but trust me it is worth the extra pound.
As a man I have quite short hair, although it is pretty thick, I find Tigi Bedhead gives me a manageable shiny mane that lasts throughout the day. I have never tried it on longer hair and so I can not comment on the effects it has. once it has dried the putty keeps your hair in place for the entire day or evening.
Over the years I have tried a wide range of hair products and I have found this to be one of the best, fuss-free, simple products around.
My tube, pack (I am not sure what to refer to it as) has lasts me for about 4-5 months, so really price wise it isn't too bad.
The Mrs gets mine from http://www.salonlines.co.uk/hair-products.
If only it worked like the packaging looks and the stuff smells... Great!!
It leaves a nasty residue on hair if you come in the door after a night on the town and fall asleep without washing it out. It smells like something has died on your head and started to rot if you are in a smoky atmosphere for too long, and it started to strip the colour from my hair when it was really short and bright!! Can't be good!!
It is far too expensive for what it is and just doesn't feel healthy. Shame, because it smells really good and I'm a sucker for spangly packaging.
Tigi Bedhead manipulator is a wonderful little product for those nights out around town. I do not really use it during the day for work - but think it is wonderful for giving me that funky, sexy, fun hair style for a night out on the town with the girls.
You do not need to use much at all and you can always add more if needed. The shine it gives my hair is great - although it can be a little heavy if I accidently add too much (I know I keep saying this but start with a little bit and add more if needed).
It has a fabulous smell of citrus which always makes me feel sexy.
As anyone who has read my previous reviews will now I buy all of my hair and beauty products from a great little website called www.salonlines.co.uk - For a 50ml tub of Tigi Bedhead Manipulator they charge £9.50.
Directors for use: Work a small pea sized amount through wet to dry hair and let the fun begin!
The Tigi Bedhead Manipulator can be used on wet or dry hair - it works well with both, I have tried all different styles with it from spikes to twists to flicks and they all looked amazing.
I have very fine and short hair and have spent a small fortune on trying hair products. Bed Head Manipulator has been the best for me. I have been able to find it not just at The Salon anymore but in my local Supermarket. I place a very small amount (the size of a pea) on the tips of my fingers. I then rub both hands together and run my hands through the roots of my hair. The product lifts and gives volume to my hair. Latter on in the day I just poof it up. This product is not greasy or oily. It is a goo that dries in place and is also easy to wash out.
For short hair styles, Tigi BedHead Manipulator is indispensable. Yes, I am a fan of BedHead products anyway, but since the fluffy duffy locks have been cut short, Manipulator is the key to stylish good looks.
Manipulator smells like bubble gum, don't worry, the smell doesn't linger. You take a small blob between your thumb and first finger, about a 5p size, and warm it up. The texturising gum becomes very pliable and less sticky. You then run it through your hair as and where required to give texture and shape to your style. Once it dries, your hair will stay in place.
Manipulator comes in a screw top jar which costs about £9 for 50ml. This will last you ages with daily use, several months at least. You can also buy a trial size jar which is good for people like me who like to see how easy a styling product really is when you use it at home.
Be a Master Manipulator. Get whacked-out hair - spike, twist dreads or go punky. More mainstream? Get body and texture. Support factor: 3 Texture factor: 5 Separated and textured with a matte finish Pliable, supportive and long-lasting Good for any hair length or texture Separates and smoothes fly-aways To Use: Work this fiber-forming cream through clean, wet or dry hair. The more you use, the more texture you get! On wet hair blow dry or let dry naturally.
