I love a bargain so when I discovered that TK Maxx sell Tigi Bed Head shampoos, conditioners and other hair products at reduced prices, I snapped up quite a few bottles. I've used Tigi hair products in the past and always been pleased with the results - in my experience they've always lived up to their promises, and always smell lovely too. One such product that I ended up buying was the 'Some Like It Hot' conditioner, which I have been using on a daily basis for the last few months.
I must admit, the first thing that attracted me to this product was the bottle. It comes in a bright yellow, 750ml bottle (a smaller 250ml tube is also available) which really stood out against the other hair products displayed on the same shelf. The bottle has a pump dispenser which I really like as one pump dispenses the perfect amount of conditioner for my hair, preventing me from using too much and therefore prolonging the life of my conditioner. This dispenser also makes the conditioner very easy to use, as there is no faffing around trying to unscrew bottle caps or anything; you simply press the pump on the top of the bottle and you're ready to go!
I always like to smell hair products before purchasing them, and this was no exception. It has a pleasant, soothing fragrance which is more subtle than those of some of the other products in Tigi's Bed Head range. I couldn't really put my finger on what this conditioner smells of, but according to the bottle it contains avocado, grape, aloe and cucumber extracts, which I suppose are what give it it's refreshing scent. Although the scent doesn't linger in my hair once I've rinsed the conditioner out of it, it sticks around whilst I'm conditioning my hair, giving my shower a nice relaxing fragrance.
The conditioner has a thin-ish, lightweight consistency which spreads throughout hair quickly and can be rinsed out of hair easily. I prefer this to the thicker texture of some conditioners I have used in the past, as I find that these can be difficult to rinse fully out of my hair, leaving it feeling weighed down and sometimes even a little sticky. The thinner consistency of 'Some Like it Hot' means that I can apply a small amount to my hair, distribute it across my entire head very quickly and then rinse it out quickly and easily. Despite being a lightweight conditioner, I still feel that it nourishes my hair as much as a product with a thicker texture would, and I don't find that I need to leave it in my hair any longer than I usually would. The consistency of 'Some Like It Hot' means that a little goes a long way (one pump is sufficient to condition my entire head of hair, and I've got quite long hair) making it good value for money, and it leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean once rinsed out.
Is It Any Good?
So enough about the bottle, fragrance and consistency is this conditioner any good? Well, yes, I'd say it is. As the name suggests, this is a conditioner aimed at countering the effects that heat and humidity can have upon hair, and it claims to smooth and soothe hair in these conditions. According to the back of the bottle, the ingredients form 'a barrier to make hair smooth and guard against humidity, UV rays and thermal damage'. Now, unfortunately I've been using this conditioner in the winter months, so, living in Britain, my hair's not had much exposure to humidity or UV rays! However, I use heated appliances everyday (I blow dry and then straighten my hair), and this conditioner does seem to have protected my hair from the damaging effects that these can have on hair. I've seen a reduction in the number of split ends in my hair, and it seems healthier, smoother and sleeker since I started using this conditioner. I don't use any of the other products in the 'Some Like it Hot' range, but I'd imagine that if you were to use this conditioner in conjunction with the 'Some Like it Hot' shampoo, you'd get an even better result. From my experience of the Tigi Bed Head range, I've found that their products do tend to live up to their promises, so I've been looking out for the shampoo to use alongside this conditioner.
Value For Money
The Bed Head range doesn't come cheap and my large bottle has an RRP of £21 although I picked mine up in TK Maxx for £10 (a reduction of over 50% - bargain!). I'd say it's probably not worth the full £21, as there are plenty of effective low-to-mid-priced conditioners on the market, many of which can be found more easily in local shops and supermarkets. That said, the combination of the large size of bottle and the pump dispenser has meant that my bottle of conditioner has lasted for what seems like forever (I've been using it everyday for over four months and have well over half a bottle left), so I'd say it's good value for money when bought at half price. I've also seen this conditioner on sale on Amazon for around the £10 mark, so it's worth having a look if you fancy a bargain.
Overall, I'd recommend buying this conditioner if you can get it at a reduced price - if you happen to be in TK Maxx go and have a look for it! I wouldn't buy it again if I had to pay the full price for it, but I don't think £10 for a whopping 750ml bottle is bad at all, particularly considering that a little really does go a long way. It has a pleasant scent and consistency and is easy to use - a small amount can be distributed across a large amount of hair and it rinses out quickly and easily. This conditioner has improved the health of my hair, making it shinier, smoother and sleeker, and the bright yellow bottle never fails to cheer me up in the morning!
