Blow drying and straightening really take it out of my hair. It is often frizzy and dry so at times I like to treat it to a product that will not only protect it for further damage but to put back some of the moisture lost in styling. The Some Like It Hot Serum is a heat & humidity resistant product that protects hair when using heated appliances. *Price and availability* The bottle of serum comes in 100ml size and costs £7.50. It is available from most TIGI stockists. *Directions* The bottle comes with a little pump on the top; one pump of the bottle is enough to coat the hair. I like to squirt the serum into hand and work it through my wet hair using my finger tips. I try to avoid using too much of the product as it can make my roots a bit greasy and heavy. I then style and dry my hair as normal. *My experiences* The serum is thick and very moisturising. It contains Olive Oil as its main ingredient. This is a natural product that hydrates the hair deeply, making it stronger and less likely to dry out due to pollutant damage and heat damage. The oil coats each individual hair like a barrier. I like this product, as long as I only use a small amount the serum dries invisibly and acts as invisible protection. The serum has a pleasant subtle fruity scent and adds to the just washed clean hair smell. The serum acts as a detangling formula and allows a comb to be brushed though the hair with ease without pulling it and causing damage. As the serum coats the hair, it locks in moisture. This makes the hair take longer to dry so can delay the styling process. However, once the hair is blow dried it feels really flexible and conditioned. It is nice to run my fingers through and it does not feel heavy or greasy. It does appear to be less flyaway and easy to control. My hair feels in much better condition after using this product. I put this down to the fact that this serum contains other health promoting additions such as vitamins and minerals. I like how soft it makes my hair when I use it and it seems to give my hair a lovely shine that looks natural and healthy. This product seems to last forever as you only need one pump to coat the hair. I do not use this product every day, even though it is designed for everyday use. I use it every couple of days as my hair has the potential to get greasy quick so do not want to make it any more greasy than necessary. *Overall* I've used other treatments that protect the hair in this way, but this one is by far the best that I have tried. It doesn't sit heavy on my hair and as long as I concentrate on the ends rather than the roots, it does not make it greasy. I'd recommend this product, it is a quick way of protecting the hair and getting a healthy shine.
My hair lives in some annoying place half way between curly and wavy which very often results in being a frizzy mess. Due to this, I blow dry and straighten my hair every single day and it has taken a battering over the years. Many heat protection hair products are often ineffective or leave my hair looking greasy, but when one of my own frizzy haired friends suggested that I should try the Some Like It Hot - Heat & Humidity Resistant Serum by Tigi, I thought it was worth a shot. What does the product do? The Some Like It Hot Serum is a heat & humidity resistant product which put simply, is a product to protect your hair from becoming damaged while using heated styling appliances and also to prevent your hair from becoming frizzy when exposed to humidity. It promises to leave the hair looking smooth and shiny and even claims to protect and prolong hair colour. How does the product work? One of the products main ingredients is Olive Oil. This is an extremely moisturising substance which hydrates the hair deeply, making it stronger and less likely to become brittle and snap. The oil forms a barrier of protection around the hair, which allows the moisture to be retained and at the same time, prevents pollutants from entering the hair shaft and gives it a layer of protection from the heat. It nourishes the hair with vitamins and provides the hair with the fatty acids which it needs in order to remain healthy. The product also contains a series of chemicals which add shine, detangle and also strengthen the hair. How do you use the product? Only a very small amount it needed in order to achieve the desired results. After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I squirt some product onto my hands and then smooth the serum into my towel dried hair, paying particular attention to the ends. After that you can style your hair as you normally would. Packaging and Price The packaging comes in a rusty orange plastic bottle which is most definitely not my favourite colour but it is eye catching nevertheless. It has some black and yellow writing on it that adds to the decoration and a frosty plastic cap to prevent the product being released if you are carrying the bottle in your handbag. The serum is released using a pump action which is activated when you push down on the top. It will cost you around £7 in order to purchase 100ml of the serum. It is available from most good hair salons and it is also available from a variety of online websites so if you shop around, you may find it for a little bit cheaper. If you find that you particularly like this product then also available as part of the Some Like It Hot collection is the Heat & Humidity Shampoo and Conditioner which I also own. Extra Thoughts The product smells just as delicious as the other Tigi products and this is something that I have come to expect from this brand. It is very sweet and fruity, almost sugary, so if sweetness not isn't your thing, you probably won't get on very well with this brand at all but I really love it. The aroma is long lasting too so you will constantly notice the aroma throughout the day and people will compliment you on the scent. The serum itself is clear in colour, as you would probably expect a product of this type to be. Despite being very oily, it has quite a thick, rich consistency so it isn't one of those products which will run off your hand before you've had time to use it. Only a very small amount of product is needed on each application because when I've been tempted to use more, my hair has become very greasy, very quickly. Despite the bottle telling us that the product needs to be used on towel dried hair, my friend suggested that I should also use the product on my dry hair. This was a no go for me but may work on those who have hair that is coarser that mine. As long as I don't use much of the product, I can see some lovely results. It is very moisturising and so my hair doesn't become frizzy as easily when exposed to heat or dampness. It isn't as brittle and seems to offer some protection whenever I get GHD happy. Despite because rich and oily, somehow it doesn't weigh my hair down because I like to have lots of volume in my roots. It coats my hair with a lovely and healthy shine and although it probably is the silicone which is doing this, it still looks nice. My hair feels very smooth and soft to the touch and the dry ends are less noticeable so this is a particular handy product to have if you've missed your hair appointment. All in all, this is a nice enough product to use if you have dry or frizzy hair that needs taming. It leaves it silky smooth and with a lovely shine. It's probably not an essential product and I could easily live without it but it is a handy product which does help to control your hair. I'm not certain that I would repurchase the product, simply because of the price, but as I only use such a small amount, I can see the product lasting more than a year.
This serum will make your hair smell amazing! The first thing I noticed about the product, before I had even put it in my hair, was the tropical summery smell. Yum. Anyway on to the technicalities, this is Heat & Humidity Resistant Serum. You just work a drop into towel-dried hair and it smooth and protect your locks. It doesn't make your hair look greasy like some serums tend to. My hair is very thick and unruly and prone to frizz in the heat. After blow drying and straightening my hair it was smooth, shiny and frizz free and a lot of this can be attributed to the serum, because sometimes even after all that effort with styling tools there are still a few frizzy bits. When I've used this product in the heat it's manages keep my locks in check and I've even got caught in the rain and it just went wavy rather than frizzy. I know that Tigi products can be a little bit expensive, luckily I got mine half price in a sale my Salon was having, but I would but it again at the full price.
I recently ran out of my heat protection spray from Boots and decided that I desperately needed to buy a new one, as otherwise my hair ends up looking dry, frazzled and lack lustre. I needed a spray that would protect my hair without making it greasy or weighing it down, so the Some Like It Hot serum seemed perfect to try. The Tigi brand is a British haircare brand created by Toni & Guy. At first, they were only available within salons but now they are readily available and often have good quality products with very witty names like Some Like It Hot. I bought mine from Amazon at £6.50 for a 100ml bottle, which isn't too bad for a serum as most professional haircare brands cost more than this and I have seen it for sale in my hairdressers at nearly £10 per bottle, so obviously it is cheaper if you shop around. The product is easy to use and you use it sparingly, the serum is colourless and all you need to do is squit a small amount into your hands, then rub your hands together to coat them in the serum, then finally run your hands through your hair smoothing it down. I must mention that the scent instantly hits you, it is sweet but not sickly and has a light coconut note to it without being overly fruity. I found out that you only need to use a small amount after first using it, my hair felt a little bit greasy and heavier than normal. Once I got used to only using a tiny amount, I really noticed the difference and had fabulous results. My hair straighteners literally glided through my hair and didn't yank it out, leaving it smooth, straight, silky and with a gorgous glossy shine. Normally my hair frizzes when I go out in the cold but I have noticed a difference when I go out, my hair is less prone to frizzing and my hair is less dry, you can really see the difference. I will buy this again when the bottle runs out, which will be a while at this rate, my hair smells nice, appears smooth and silky, and above all is protected from heat damage.
I bought this last May for my summer holiday. I hadn't long had my hair highlighted and wanted something to prootect the colour for the two weeks I was away. I paid £6 for a bottle of this on Amazon and it contains 100ml of the serum. It comes in a bright orange bottle pump dispenser. Tigi claim that this product will smooth hair without weighing it down, fight humidity and protect your hair colour. To use the product you need to apply a small drop to towel dried or damp hair. I only use the smallest amount as if I use too much I find that my hair can get greasy and limp. I then blowdried and styled my hair as normal. I also applied a little bit more to my finished style to smooth down flyaways and to give a bit of extra protection. The product has a nice coconut smell which makes it ideal for use on holidays. After using this product I noticed my hair felt soft and shiny. At the end of my holiday I noticed that my colour was still bright and my hair didn't look frazzled or dry as it can do sometimes after sun, sea and chlorine all week. It also protects from the damage caused by heat styling so it can be used all year around not just in the summer! For best results Tigi recommend you use the shampoo and conditioner first. I would give this 5 out of 5 stars it is one of the best products I have tried for the summer, It also lasts for a long time too as you only need a drop at a time.
Hair serum is as staple in my hair care routine as shampoo and conditioner. If I didn't use a serum my hair would scare young children and birds would nest in it - it really is that bad when left to do its own thing. I have tried so many brands over the years it's unreal - and I dread to think how much money I've spent doing so! I spotted the Bed Head Some Like it Hot serum online quite a while ago, but having had a rather negative experience with another Bed Head serum (Control Freak), I was a little hesitant to try this. I finally decided to take the plunge when I spotted this for a bargain price online, and I'm so glad I did, because I'm pleased to report it's true love! This serum is from the Some Like it Hot collection, a relatively new addition to TIGI's Bed Head family. As well as the serum a matching Some Like it Hot shampoo and conditioner are also available. This is marketed as a heat and humidity resistant serum, and should protect from heated appliances, which for me is a real bonus as I straighten my hair about five times a week. It also claims to protect hair colour too, which is great for those of us who dye our hair. The serum comes in a bright orange bottle adorned with the Bed Head logo. It's not really the prettiest bottle ever and I'm not all that keen on the colour, but I've come to expect brightly packaged products from TIGI and the fact it's functional is more important than what it looks like anyway. To use, you simply dispense a small amount of the serum into your hands, rub together and then smooth through the hair. It says on the bottle to apply to towel dried hair, but I have used on both damp and dry hair and found the results to be pretty much the same. The serum is clear and when you dispense it you will notice that it has a very sweet, fruity scent. It smells a bit like when you step into a salon, and although I don't usually like my styling products to be strongly scented this is the exception, as it just smells so good! I find this very easy to apply and the consistency is brilliant. Thick serums will weigh the hair down, whilst it can be easy to saturate the hair with a very runny serum, so I'm always pleased when I try a new serum to find it has a lovely consistency like this one. It runs through the hair very smoothly and doesn't feel greasy or heavy at all. The results this product gives are fantastic. It smoothes my birds nest of frizz and makes my hair look smooth and sleek. It gives a fantastic shine to my hair that looks natural and not too over the top. My hair looks much healthier and not so dry and straw-like. As for protecting my hair from heat, I must admit that is something I find quite difficult to judge. I had my hair cut a couple of weeks before Christmas, from right down my back to just past shoulder length, so most of the damage was chopped off! I must admit my hair is not looking particularly damaged and I haven't noticed any split ends, but whether or not this is down to the serum I can't tell - although I would like to think so. If you are familiar with hair serum, you may have noticed that there seems to be two standard sizes of bottles that it comes in - 30ml and 50ml. In contrast, Some Like it Hot comes in a 100ml bottle, which obviously means it lasts twice as long. I buy mine from www.beautybay.co.uk which has the cheapest prices (that I have found anyway) online, at just £6.29 a bottle. Prices do vary depending on where you shop - I have also seen this costing up to £11 on some websites. As TIGI is a salon brand, it's not usually available in the shops, although some places such as TJ Hughes and TK Maxx do sell TIGI products. On the whole I'd have to say that this is an excellent product. I have been using it daily for quite some time now and I love everything about it - the smell, the way it makes my hair look and feel and the fact it comes in a bigger bottle than I would expect. A brilliant product - five stars!
When I purchased some hair straighteners a while back, I soon cottoned on to the fact that all that heat, directly applied, really wasn't doing my hair much good at all. I needed something to help protect my hair against the heat, without weighing it down or making it greasy and lank, so when I saw this 'Some Like it Hot' Serum, I decided to give it a bash . I think it was probably the name that made me pick this over similar products, as well as the brand . Tigi is a fairly large haricare brand, stocked in many salons, so I assumed a large company such as this would have good quality products. The 'Some Like It Hot' name amused me, as it's also the name of one of my favourtie Marilyn Monroe films . Now, thats a girl who had nice hair! I purchased mine online, at www.wantthelook.com, paying £6.24 for 100ml. This might seem expensive, but having seen this product in salons for prices closer to £9, I was quite pleased with the saving I'd made . This is simple to use, squirt a little of the clear serum into your hands, rub your palms together to coat them, and smooth doen the lengths of your hair before styling as normal . I have to say, this stuff smells amazing - with a light sweet coconut scent. You only need to use a little bit - the first couple of times I applied a little too much, and my hair was heavy and a little greasy feeling when styled, I soon got the hang of using just enough, and then the results were brilliant . My straighteners slid through my hair smoothly, with each sweep releasing a burs of coconut scented steam into the air, and was soon poker straight with a glossy shine . I found that brushing my hair through with this in was much easier , as it had a detangling effect, and I found that my hair was less prone to frizzing up . I also felt like my hair was protected from the heat of my straighteners, and certainly after a few weeks of use my hair is showing much less evidence of heat damage. This is a great product that I will certainly be buying again - my hair is sleek and smooth, smells lovely, and is protected against heat damage. Exactly what I asked for - 5 stars .
