My hair is frizzy and out of control. Under normal circumstances, I won't leave the hair without blow drying and straightening my hair. Sometimes on a work day when I am just to tired, I will just wash my hair and let it dry naturally. It looks massive and scary but that extra half an hour in bed makes it all worth it. So as not to scare my collegues any more than I have to, I thought I'd invest in the Bed Head Styleshots Extreme Straight Shampoo by Tigi.
What does the product do?
The product promises to make your frizzy hair straight and smoother, and to enable you to get it under better control. It offers thermal protection which is really great news as most people with frizzy hair will be having to straighten and blow dry their hair. It also protects the hair from sun damage, claiming to leave the hair healthy, smooth and under control.
How do you use the product?
The product should be used on hair that is damp and it is to be massaged generously through the length of the hair and into the roots. It should be followed up with a good conditioner and then to be dried and styled as usual.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a burnt orange and stripy plastic bottle which is not my favourite colour and not one that I would have on display but then this isn't the most important factor with a shampoo. It has a flip top lid which is easy to open and close even when your hands are soapy and slippery. The product costs £10 for about 250ml and it can be bought from most good hairdressers and also from a variety of online websites. A big pump bottle is also available although this will cost more.
Application and Performance
The product has a delicious and fruity fragrance that is really evident and one that I really like. It has a citrus aroma which matches the colour of the bottle. It has a clear colour which has a orange tinge and it has the consistency that you would expect from a shampoo. The product feels good in the hair and it coats my locks well, making me feel like it's doing a good job. The aroma is really evident as you use the product and it works up a bit of a lather. It is easy to wash the product out of the hair.
My hair is easy to brush after use and it stays tangle free. Once it is blow dried, my hair is a little bit less frizzy then usual. It seems hydrated and it is a bit more under control than usual. I still need to straighten it but this is a quicker and easier job than it usually would be. On those days where I go to bed with wet hair, my hair is by no means straight in the mornings but it is less frizzy, more managable and more under control. It has a nice shine to it, it looks nice and clean, and that lovely citrus aroma is really strong in my hair to the point where people comment on it. It makes my hair nice and clean, removing all of the hair products that I use from my hair, and I can usually last 48 hours between washes.
All in all, this is a good shampoo that gets my hair squeaky clean. It doesn't make my hair straight but it does make it less frizzy and more managable. It smells completely delicious but you'll need to check that you like the aroma because it stays strongly in the hair. Although the shampoo is expensive, it's still a good one and I would probably repurchase the product again.
