My hair is very frizzy and I am always spending ages blow drying and straightening my hair after each time that I wash it. Recently however I decided to stop fighting the frizz and see if I could change it into defined curls instead of a wild mess. I am a big fan of Tigi and so I decided to purchase the Bedhead Styleshots Hi Def Curls Shampoo and Conditioner to help me in my quest.
What does the product do?
The product promises to hydrate and moisturise your curls, taming frizzy hair into submission. It claims that it will leave your hair more managable, silky and soft. The weightless formula leaves the curls bouncy, big and free from the dreaded frizz. In addition, it will also protect the coloured hair from fading and it will also protect the hair from suffering any damage when using heated hair appliances.
How do you use the product?
The product should be used in the same way as you would use your usual hair conditioner. It should be applied to damp hair that has already been shampooed and then massaged generously through the length of the hair, particularly concentrating on the ends. After leaving it for a few minutes in order for it to get to work, you can then rinse the product from the hair thoroughly and then dry and style your hair in the usual way.
Packaging and Price
The product will come contained within a pearly and shiny purple plastic bottle. You can buy it in a large 750ml bottle which has a pump dispenser which you push down on in order to dispense the conditioner. You can also buy a smaller bottle which is the same colour but that has a flip top lid on which it can stand. The product will cost you around £20 for the larger bottle or £10 for the smaller bottle. You can buy the product from most good hairdressers and also from a variety of online websites.
The conditioner is scented with a lemon tart and rhubarb fragrance. It smells strongly as you would expect a Tigi product to smell although it is very artificial. It does smell quite sickly and it is actually just like a lemon tart so you do get what they say you'll get! The aroma is strong as you apply the product to the hair so you'll have to make sure that you like it first. The conditioner has a really thick and tacky consistency and you do need to use quite a lot of the product in order to give the hair a good coated. Not much of the product comes out with each pump so you will need to get your muscles working in order to dispense enough of the product. The product does feel like it's doing a good job on the hair and it doesn't irritate my scalp or cause me any discomfort. When the time is up, the conditioner is easily rinsed out of the hair.
The fragrance remains strongly in the hair even once it is dried so you need to make sure that you like the fragrance. The conditioner is quite moisturising and so it does manage to stop my hair being so frizzy. This in turns makes my curls/waves more defined which makes my hair looks much tidier and less like a birds nest. It feels really soft and it has a healthy shine to it. My hair has lots of vitality and bounce, and it looks really healthy. If it works this well on my frizzy hair, then those who have pretty curls anyway should really like it. It doesn't make my hair greasy or weigh it down so it doesn't look flat and I can leave it 48 hours before I feel the need to wash it again.
All in all, this is a lovely hydrating conditoner which defines waves/curls and reduces any frizziness. It makes the hair shiny, soft and managable and leaves the hair looking in a better condition. It does make you smell like a lemon tart however and it is expensive but I think that the positives far outweigh the negatives with this product.
