My hairdresser is a big fan of Tigi products and always uses them on my hair and as a ploy to get me to buy the whole range I think they try to use different products each time. This was an impulse buy which set me back £9 (eeek!). I have been growing my hair in the past few months and it has gone from a short choppy style to medium length. As my hair has grown it has also gotten thicker due to having fewer layers. I now remember why I had it cut short in the first place as at times it is difficult to manage especially after swimming when it gets really knotty (I refuse to wear a swimming cap!)
This product is non aerosol it comes in a bright pink bottle with a black pump action dispenser.
The product can be used not only to de-tangle your hair but also to refresh and defrizz the hair. It can also be used as a heat protection spray.
You can use the product on towel dried hair to detangle and add heat protection before styling. You can also spray it to sections of your hair before straightening to protect from breakage and split ends and finally you can use the spray to 'reactivate' any styling products such as wax already in your hair.
I use this on my hair after swimming and using a leave in conditioner to help remove the tangels and prevent my hair from being damaged by yanking a comb through it. The spray is easy to use and it sprays evenly if you use it from about 20cm away from your head. The spray has a fruity sweet smell with a hint of coconut, this is rather plesant. The spray definately made combing my hair a little easier after swimming. I also like the fact that it adds heat protection so before I go mad with the hairdryer I know I won't be damaging my hair. I also sprayed it on each section of hair before straightening as I find that my hair gets a little dry on the ends if I don't use a protection spray before ironing it to within an inch of it's life!
After using this my hair looked shiny and soft. It also smelt really nice and the smell lingered well into the next day. My partner always comments on how much he likes the smell of my hair when using this. I spray this quite generously whenever I use this and so far the bottle is only half used i've had it about 4 months. I do tend to alternate my haircare products as I own so many I can't possibly use them all at once!
I would recommend this as a good all rounder, it helps to condition and detangle your hair while also scenting it and adding heat protection. It gets 5 out of 5 from me.
This is the best detangler that I have ever used and while it is not cheap at around the £5 mark for a 200ml bottle it is a superb product that I use with my own long hair and will will use on my daughetr when her hair grows longer and becomes more susceptible to getting tangled.
The product comes in a shocking dark pink container with a pump action spray. It delivers a nice even spray and means you can direct the spray to the areas that need it the most. It can be used on wet or dry hair however for me I always use this after washing and conditioning my hair. After using this I really notice the difference compared with when I don't, my hair is so much more manageable and easy to separate which also means it is easier to dry and then style.
It gives my hair a nice even shine to it as well and it is smooth to the touch so it has some conditioning properties to it as well. It has a very nice fragrance as well, quite fruity and it retains the smell in my hair for a while after application.
I have to say that I'm a big fan of this product, it is very effective at getting the tangles out of my hair with minimal brushing and for me it is worth every penny. It lasts pretty good as well as you can use it sparingly and with the pump action there is not really any waste.
Hollie hates having her hair brushed. Even on those (rare) days when it's not tangled she screams and shouts as soon as I put the tip of the brush near her hair, leading to much shouty behaviour from both of us when we're rushing to get ready for school in the mornings. I've always used the Avon Kids detangling spray, but am on a bit of a downer with Avon at the moment so when it ran out a few months ago I decided to try another brand of the same product. It would never have occurred to me to buy a Tigi product for a four year old, but when I saw this Rockaholic Born to Rock spray at an extremely discounted price in TJ Hughes I decided to snap a couple up - it's such a brilliant product (and has saved Hollie so many tears) that I wish I'd bought more now!
It's a pump action spray rather than an aerosol, something that I already knew due to my experience with other detangling products but this took my mum by surprise as she had been expecting a 'proper' spray. I actually prefer pump action products as my eldest daughter suffered badly with asthma when she was younger and the slightest hint of ozone in the house would often mean a trip to hospital for a nebuliser at the very least, the habit of avoiding aerosols has stayed with me in the intervening fifteen years and I think all our lungs are happier for it!
Hollie has quite short hair, just past her shoulders, and it hasn't really developed any thickness yet. This means I can be economical with the spray and at the very most I only have to use four squirts for each hair brushing session, sometimes I can get away with less but on average I'd say four will cover the hair of most small children. It can be used on wet or dry hair which is useful as some of these detanglers are designed for use only on dry hair, which actually defeats the object as it's after washing that Hollie's hair becomes tangled the most. I use this after washing her hair in the evening and the brush honestly slips through her hair without encountering even a single tangle, this is a minor miracle as her hair has the unfortunate habit of matting into something like dreadlocks after washing and even coating it in conditioner doesn't really help matters due to the fact that as soon as it's been rinsed out the tangles start forming again.
After her hair has dried I can see a huge difference in the appearance of it; the spray gives it a silkier look and creates a shine that Hollie's hair has never really had. The conditioning effects last for a good few hours and at last I'm able to actually brush her hair again in the day if it needs it, rather than just having to smooth it down with clips and headbands. When used on dry hair you don't get such a good result appearance-wise, the detangling effects are just as good but you probably won't get the shine factor you'd experience if using on wet hair.
The spray does a good job of conditioning the hair, this can be a nuisance sometimes when I've sprayed Hollie's hair before school as I then have problems getting her bobbles to grip her hair properly - you can always tell when I've used the spray as when she comes out of school her hair will be a right royal mess as half of it has escaped from the bobble and clips during the day! On the odd occasion I've used it on my own hair (ie. after using L'Oreal's ridiculous 'smoothing' shampoo) it has left it quite flyaway, although this can be easily countered with a blast of hairspray or a pat of mousse.
The spray smells quite nice; I know everyone raves about the scent of Tigi products and while I agree they do smell nice, I honestly don't think this is an important consideration as it's nothing special really. I love how the scent of this one in particular lingers on Hollie's hair, it's like a more grown up version of sniffing a baby to me as Born to Rock has such a sweet and girly fragrance that it mingles nicely with freshly washed hair and suits Hollie's personality really well.
The usual price for Tigi Rockoholic Born to Rock is £5 for a 200ml bottle, my bargainous bottles cost just £1.79 each which is why I'm kicking myself now for not stocking up! A 200ml bottle lasts forever though, I'm just about coming to the end of the first one after two months which I think is pretty impressive considering it's been used more than once a day and not just on Hollie's short hair but also on my own long hair and the two older girls'.
This was the first of the "Rockaholic" range that I bought as I figured that it required no styling ability to get its full effects! Although the "Rockaholic" products come under a different moniker, the quality that can be seen in "Catwalk" and "bed Head" products seems to run throughout the range making this yet another great product from Tigi.
The RRP of this product is £7 which may seem to some a little steep, however, it can be picked up on Amazon and Hair Supermarket for around a fiver which puts it in line with most high street brands and the quality is far superior.
I have very long hair that varies in texture throughout and this product delivers on every area of my hair. I use it with a Tangle Teezer which means that I generally can brush my hair without any trouble with knots at all. I have only used the product on wet hair but I have been assured by friends that the results are fantastic on dry hair too and the product detangles without leaving any residue at all.
This product goes beyond detangling in that it has a gorgeous scent typical of Tigi products as well as leaving my hair shiny and in great condition post brushing and for a detangling spray there's not much more you could ask for!
After experiencing great success with Bedhead products I started to venture into the other TIGI ranges such as Catwalk and Rockaholic. I am so pleased that the quality of their products appears to be consistent through the ranges as I am really impressed by the results I have experienced from this!
The exterior of the bottle is really attractive as are most of their products and they look great in your bathroom or on your dressing table! The price may be considered a little expensive by some, at around £7, but prices vary an awful lot and its a good idea to shop around on sites like Amazon and eBay to find the best prices.
In terms of results, this product really does deliver. My hair is really long and thick and sometimes it can feel weighed down. It is such an effort to brush it after it has been washed so I often avoid brushing it as well as I should. Because I don't like doing it I decided to invest in this product and it really was worth it. It makes it so much easier to brush my hair. I tend to put my hair into sections and spray each section to ensure I get all the knots out but overall this product has saved so much time and it makes brushing my hair a lot of an effort. I don't get in a stress anymore and it isn't time consuming! Now it feels great to know that my hair is totally knot free and I have this product to thank for it!
Now as I have long hair it isnt particularly managable on a normal day but Ive never classed it as overly knotty or hard to brush or style. But on a night out that all seems to change - I do what I always do when styling it, wash, blow-dry, apply a multitude of products to it and then straighten - same as I do every day. But it seems on a night out whenever I get home in the morning my hair is full of knots. The underneath part of my hair is particularly bad and it takes me at least half hour - and thats no exaggeration either - to brush my hair after a night out and even when all the knots have been removed my scalp is sore because of all the pulling caused by the brushing and my hair is majorly frizzy so I think you'll agree I needed to start buying products that would prevent me from having to do this every Sunday morning! I decided on trying this 'TIGI Rockaholic De-Tangler & De-Frizzer' because Ive always loved the TIGI products Ive tried and if anything was going to work I knew it would be that so I bought it straight away and Ive never looked back.
Price: Around £6 [I paid] but prices vary greatly on all TIGI products so shop around!
Stockists: The TIGI website, Amazon & most hair salons stock this brand.
Other Info: This product promises to make hair managable and silky soft - with no knots and definitely no frizz. This also acts as a heat protection spray preventing further damage to your hair & also promises to balance your hairs texture to ensure any other products you use on it work with maximum efficiency.
*This product can be used on any hair length, colour or type. I dont think this would work as well on short hair - because short hair doesnt get AS knotty. I personally have very long, coloured and quite damaged hair and this works really well for me so I would recommend it for people who have hair like me - I know from experience it works well.*

The packaging for this product - as with all of the TIGI range - gorgeous in my opinion and probably the main reason most people but it first time round. This packaging is a lovely neon pink/purple colour through which you can see the liquid inside - its creamy so it makes the bottle looks totally coloured rather than transparent when it really is totally clear. The 200ml bottle starts off quite thin at the bottom and then gets larger towards the top - there is a flat circle on the bottom to make sure this can be easily displayed without falling over all the time and at the top is a small, black push down nozzle with a clear plastic cap over the top to make sure if you are transporting this around it wont leak or spray out in your handbag. All the information you could possibly need is written on the front and back of the bottle ie: brand name, ingredients, directions for use, claims etc so any questions you have about the product should be answered on the bottle - if not there is an address you can write to with your issues/questions. I love the packaging for this one - its slightly different as its from the Rockaholic range of TIGI but I adore it and it looks so different to the other TIGI products I own.
Normally in a review of a product of this kind I would include a list of the most important ingredients but I cannot for the life of me find these anywhere and Im not going to list all of them as I dont see the point. A list of ALL the ingredients in this product can be found on amazon & the TIGI website for people who might have allergies and need to check them out!

So to use this product you simply spray a generous amount in towel dried hair that is still quite damp and then brush through hopefully leaving soft and knot free locks. I dont notice the difference straight away because my hair isnt that knotty when its just been washed anyway - probably due to the fact that I use bucket loads of conditioner - but my hair is still easy to to brush and style as normal after using this. This spray is very fine and light yet somehow it still comes out quite thick and creamy so you use a gnerous amount all over your hair - try and get it as even as possible which should be achieved when you brush the product through. I would recommend concentrating on the part of your hair that gets the most knotty - for me the underneath of my hair so I spray more on that part but that will be different from person to person. Dont apply this to dry hair as you wont get the desired results and you will end up with greasy hair so its not really worth it - you will get the opposite effects that you are hoping for. Ive been using this for about 3 weeks now say every other day and there is hardly anything gone out of the bottle at all so price is justified overall in this case.
Now the scent of TIGI products is always what makes me go back and buy more because they do smell amazing. But scent wise I have to say this one isnt my favourite. This smells very strongly of coconut and that isnt a fragrance I am very keen on. It smells pleasant enough - better than the smell of singed hair anyway LOL - and it smells fresh and that scent lasts all day so I guess I cant complain that much. Im just not as keen on this scent as I am on other products from this range. To be honest though I think most other people will love this one - as most people like the scent of coconut as is not too sweet or strong so anyone will be able to use this as the scent isnt offensive and doesnt get up your nose at all. I think most people will love the scent - Im just not sold but it would stop me using or recommeding this - I am still knocking off just one star though.

Using this on a night out for me was the ultimate test on whether it would actually work or not. I have no idea why my hair gets so knotty when Im at the pub or just having a drink round a mates house but I didnt want it to keep happening. Im very happy to report that since Ive started using this I dont have a problem with knotty hair!! My hair still gets a bit knotty dont get me wrong but then when I come to brushing it the knots detangle straight away without me having to tug or pull at my hair - therefore Im casuing less damage to it each time Im brushing the knots out! It doesnt stop my hair getting knotty full stop but it makes the knots much easier to brush out and stop me from hurting my hair and scalp even more. As I dont have to be as hard on my hair any more it doesnt feel or look as damaged or straw like as it did before and when I straighten it it appears much more softer and smoother than it did before so I think it is really working on protecting my hair against heat. I dont have badly frizzy hair anyway but again on a night out my hair gets badly frizzy after a few hours but again using this has prevented that from happening so this works for the exact reason I bought it for plus a few extra features - so bonus for me.
I highly recommend this if you have long hair like me that gets knotty quite easily as this will prevent you having to tug a brush through your hair for hours in the morning. I definitely recommend this to everyone who suffers with knots or frizz!
