This product is from the Tigi Your Highness collection which some of you may have read about in some of my previous as I recently reviewed the shampoo & conditioner in this range. I actually purchased this product to use with the shampoo and conditioner to see if I could get a decent amount of volume in my fine, flat hair. I can sometimes get volume in my hair but it doesn't really last, so I was on the hunt for a product that would keep the volume in my hair for longer than just a few hours. This product is a Root Boost spray mousse which helps it give lift and texture in your hair. After using the other products in this range I did have high hopes of this product and was hoping that it would take my heir to new heights. The product comes in a tall can which is dark purple and black in colour and has the name of the product on the front. As this product is by Tigi the packaging and overall look of the product looks quite expensive. I wouldn't mind having this product on show in my bathroom as I love the colours and the design of the packaging. On the back of the can it tells you a little about the product and how it should be used to get the best results. You can also find a list of ingredients and other information about e product such as precautions when using the product.

You can purchase this from most good hair salons and various websites on the internet. Prices may vary and you may find that this product is much cheaper to purchase online than it is in salons. For a 255ml can of the spray I paid approximately £8.25 from www.gorgeousshop.co.uk.
Using the Product
= = = = = = = =
Before using the product I did make sure that I read the information on how to use the product first as I know some products you can apply to dry hair rather than wet hair. This particular product you need to apply to wet hair which has just been washed. After using the Shampoo & Conditioner in this range I left my hair up in a towel to absorb any excess water so that it didn't drip everywhere. I then got ready to apply this product. I have used volume mousse in my hair before and find it really easy to apply. Before applying the product I used a wide tooth comb through my hair to get rid of any knots or tangles. To use this product they advise to section off the hair and spray the product into the roots for some lift and then blow dry. This sounded pretty easy to I got my sectioning clips and carefully sectioned off my hair and then got ready to apply the product for the first time.
I removed the black lid to reveal a spray button which has a small nozzle on it. I was sued to using a mousse spray with a big nozzle so I was a little surprised when seeing such a small nozzle, how-ever as this product was a spray it was slightly different to what I was sued to using. I held the can a good few inches away from my hair and aiming the nozzle at the roots I pressed down to release some of the product. A fine spray of foam came out and landed on the roots to my hair. This product didn't look like a mousse to me and looked slightly more like foam. I could smell the scent of the product as soon as I sprayed it which smelt fresh and clean. I really liked the smell of the product. I blew dry this section of my hair using the nozzle on the hair dryer to concentrate on the section and ran my fingers through my hair to ensure there were no tangles. I repeated this process through my hair which took a fair amount of time and then I look at the results in the mirror.

My hair definitely had a lot more volume to it which made my hair look as though it had been styled at a hairdressers, I was really impressed by this. My hair felt bouncy and light, how-ever it did feel like it had a bit of a strange residue in it at the back. I looked in the mirror and although I couldn't really see anything I could definitely feel that I had used a product in my hair. I styled my hair as normal using my straighteners and I was impressed that the volume stayed in my hair. I used a little hairspray to set the style and then left the house to go into town to meet my friend. My hair felt light and bouncy and I could definitely feel that I had volume in my hair and this gave me confidence. Despite being able to feel a slight residue of the product in my hair it stayed looking great all day and had a good amount of volume to it which lasted. My hair didn't feel stiff or straw like and it smelt really fresh and clean.
Before going to bed that evening I brushed my hair to ensure it didn't become tangled and knotty in the night. This was harder than I expected as the brush didn't seem to want to go through my hair very well and kept getting caught. I have never had this problem before so I can only put it down to the product. I do occasionally get knots and tangles in my hair when it needs cutting but no-where near this bad! After finally managing to get the brush through my hair with some hair breaking off from pulling it I went to bed and decided that I was definitely going to wash my hair in the morning. The following morning once I got up I brushed my hair again ready for washing. This proved slightly easier than the evening before how-ever it was still slightly knotty in some places. My hair definitely felt and also looked as though it needed washing so I got into the shower to give it a really good wash. Surprisingly the product was easy to wash out my hair was left feeling soft and clean.

I had really high hopes of this product due to it being a Tigi product and the fact that I found that the shampoo & conditioner in this range to be really good. This product did give my hair a considerable amount of volume and it lasted a lot longer than what it normally would in my hair when using the normal mousse that I use. The smell to the product is very nice and it makes your hair smell very clean and fresh. I was really disappointed with the slight residue that I could feel in my hair after blow-drying it and although you couldn't actually see anything in my hair it did make me a little paranoid. Trying to brush my hair when this product is in it was not an easy job and I actually found this a little painful and rather frustrating, especially as I don't normally have knots or tangles in my hair. Thankfully the product washed out my hair very easily leaving it feeling clean and soft. Maybe I went wrong when using this product and I should have used a round brush when blow drying my hair which may have not left my hair with a residue feel to it. I am going to try using this product again but I will use a round brush or my Babyliss Rotating brush to help dry it. Due to the residue and how knotty this product left my hair, I won't be using it anytime soon but will use it again in the future to see if it's any better than what it was the first time of using it.

I don't like it when my hair goes flat and I do use plenty of different products in order to give my hair a bit of life. I really like TIGI products and so I thought I would give TIGI Catwalk Your Highness Roost Boost Spray.
What does the product do?
The product promises to lift the hair and add texture to it by thickening, smoothing and strengthening. It also claims to condition and nourish the hair using natural ingredients such as Lavender and Violet. It promises to give the hair a dramatic style with long lasting results. It also has a UV barrier to help to protect the hair from sun damage.
How do you use the product?
The product needs to be applied to the hair a section at a time. You need to hold the bottle about 10cm from the hair and spritz each section in much the same way as you would use a dry shampoo. I sometimes turn my head upside down too and spritz the underneath. The product should be used on damp hair and you can blow dry and style the hair in the usual way.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a tin which resembles a hair spray can. It is a rich purple colour that is mixed with black and a lid to protect the can from going off in your bag. There is some extra information about the product given using white writing. The product will cost you around £10 for 250ml of the spray.
The product has a delicious aroma which I have come to expect from a TIGI product. It is deliciously fruity and sweet, and you can smell it from the very first moment that you spray the product. The spray has a light consistency that doesn't make the hair feel tacky, sticky or weighed down. The product is easy to use. You can still brush your hair with the product inside. The blow drying process is easy although the hair feels slightly thicker. The aroma of the product is still evident once the hair is dry.
The hair does look fuller and thicker, and the lift comes from the roots so the hair still has texture and movement. It feels completely comfortable on the hair and it doesn't make my hair feel tacky or sticky once it is dry, and it doesn't make me itch. My hair looks volumised but unfortunately, this doesn't last and it starts to go flat within a few hours. My hair is quite thick and heavy so it may hold more effectively and for longer in someone who has thin and fine hair. My hair does look shiny and feel soft, so the conditioning and nourishing ingredients must be doing the job, unlike other volumising products which can be powdery and dulling on the hair.
This product adds enough volume to make my hair look fuller and thicker for day wear but it's not enough for the evening or a night out, in my opinion. The results only last a few hours but they may last longer in hair that is thinner or finer. The smell of the product is delicious and remains on the hair. The spray has no adverse effects and it does improve the fullness of my hair a bit. I will happily continue to use the product but probably wouldn't repurchase the product as the results doesn't justify the price.
I normally use Bed Head Superstar for a Day root boost. However I couldn't get any so instead my hairdresser said that this is pretty much the same thing.
The product comes in a blue aerosol can which contains 250ml and costs around £9. The spray is designed to provide lift and texture at the roots and is designed for all hair types. It also states that the spray will create full bodies 'big' hair and will also make hair look thicker. The spray also contains added conditioning ingredients to nourish and protect your hair.
You need to use the spray on damp hair after washing. The spray has a foamy like consistency when it is dispensed, I found I needed to rub it in a bit as I was left with white foamy bits even when I sprayed it further from my head. The spray has a really nice fruity smell to it, I thought it smelt a bit like pear. Once you have sprayed the desired amount you then blowdry and style your hair as normal.
After using this I noticed that my hair was fuller, my roots were lifted and my hair had a lot of body. My hair didn't feel weighted down with product. It did make my hair feel a little dry where I had sprayed it rather than conditioned as it promised. The effects of this spray however were long lasting and my hair stayed full all night. The next day I was also able to revive my style simply by spraying a little water on and giving it a quick blast with the hair dryer. The spray is also good when I curl my hair as sometimes because my hair is long the curls make my roots look flat, this adds volume and makes my curls last longer than just using hairspray.
This product is good, it lasts for a long time the can I have has lasted me for a year so far and there is still just under half left. I would give this 4 out of 5 it is a good volumising spray and it smells divine.
If you have fine straight hair like me and struggle to get it to do anything, then this is the product for you. I like to have voluptuous big hair and have tried many different products to try and create this type of look. The main product that I have found helps solve the problem of flat uncontrollable hair is the Tigi root boost. I first came across the product when I was recommended to buy it by a stylist at Toni and Guy after I complained of my hair never looking as good as when I leave the salon. I bought my first bottle from there and have been using the product on and off for a number of years. I buy it now online as it is much cheaper and I no longer go to Toni and Guy as my salon.
*Price and availability*
I have found the Root boost online for £7.00. I think I used to pay around the ten pound mark when I bought it from Toni and Guy a number of years ago.
Despite discovering this product around 5 years ago, the design of the bottle and contents has remained exactly the same. Which is great, as it is a product that actually works.
The canister is pressurised and the product comes out as a spray. There is a little button nozzle at the top of the tin. Once the liquid is sprayed it foams up into a deliciously smelling mousse.
They advise to:
Apply to clean, towel dried hair. Shake can well. Hold 2-3 inches from hair and mist into root area for extra lift and support. Comb through to ends for all over texture and volume. Style as desired.
I prefer to spray some of this spray into my finger tips and then work into the roots with my fingers. I find that I can get much better control doing it this way and do not waste as much. If you have a very short hair cut then spraying directly onto the hair would be easier but with my length hair, this way is certainly easier.
I love the smell of this product as it smells delicious; delicately fruity and after styling my hair has a lovely aroma that losts for a long time. It really gives it that just styled smell.
I love the effects I can create with this spray and it completely changes how my hair sits. Using a brush while blow drying I am able to creat beautiful large voluptuous curves to my hair style and it adds much needed body. The hair feels like it has a product on it when blow drying and it does take longer to dry due to the product holding onto some of the moisture; however this extra time styling is definitely worth it.
The product dries invisible and does not feel heavy at all, but I can tell that I have it in my hair. My hair feels less fly away and soft and I am able to control it more. I can still run my fingers through it; I'm not saying that it holds like a hair spray but I can tell that I have the product in.
I really like it though, I like the way my hair falls and how easy it is to control it. The roots are where you need to control hair in order to make it fall where you want and this is exactly what this spray does.
Definitely give this a go if you want to create big beautiful hair!
After purchasing almost every product in the Bedhead range, I have recently started to venture into the other ranges by TIGI. Catwalk is one that was recommended to me by my hairdresser so after some careful consideration this is one of the products I bought.
I have a different coloured bottle compared to the one in the picture as I think recently they have redone the designs on the bottles. Mine is much more attractive to the eye and a blend of deep blues and purples, it looks very snazzy! It looks great on my dressing table. The prices vary dramatically in hair salons in comparison to sites such as eBay and Amazon - the average price is around £7.
The product is best used on wet, towelled dried hair I have found. You can either spray it into your roots or into your hands, then rub them together and then into your roots. The substance of the product is like a foam and the hair absorbs it. When using it I have dried my hair with a round brush to get extra lift.
This product is great in terms of the results that it delivers. It made my hair bouncy with a lot of volume which is great for me as my hair is long and thick and too much product can easily weigh it down. However I am pleased that this product is very lightweight, but it still has an excellent effect. After using this, my hair feels light and bouncy, its so effortless and its really nice to have a product that works so well.
However, please note that if you choose to spray the product into your hands first, make sure you wash your hands as it can get very sticky!
I have used Tigi Root Boost for a number of years and generally always have a can on hand in my bathroom. I used to buy it direct from Toni & Guy for around £10 for a 250ml can but in recent years they have switched their allegience to Label M products and no longer stock this. You can find it online for around £6-8 if you shop around, this may sound expensive but a little goes a long way with this stuff and I generally find that a can lasts me over a year (using a couple of times a month).
It was my Toni & Guy stylist who introduced me to the benefits of this product as I have pretty lifeless and poker straight hair which can look flat and dull a lot of the time. With this product you literally shake up the can and then spray the resulting white foam either directly into your roots (I tend to do this with my head upside down) or into your hand and rub it through the roots. I use it on blow dried hair and this tends to get the best results.
The results are quite fabulous and long lasting, the thing I like most about it though is that it is not heavy or sticky so your hair does not feel like it is being weighed down by product once you have used this. I am no expert with hair styling but I actually find this surprisingly easy to use and it achieves the results I want.
After blitzing it through the roots on the top of my head I style as normal and the effect is immediate, I have a lot of volume and bounce in the hair and it really does look just like I have had it professionally tousled. The effect lasts for a good few hours (although not all day) and I tend to use it when I am going out for the night.
The smell of this product is also quite nice, it is a fruity and floral smell but not overpowering, I quite like the smell of it on my hair.
Easy to use, long lasting effects and not that pricey - I think this is a fab item for anyone with generally lifeless and flat hair - an effective quick fix.
I was becoming quite bored with my flat lifeless hair and i bought this from my local salon after it was recommended to me. what a difference it made to my hair. The packaging is luxurious and so is the product inside. It smell divine and 'salony' which is really noticable and uplifting. I use this on my towel dried hair and massage it into the roots before blow drying. Then i use a round brush to create lift and volume. It doesn't take too much effort, in fact the first time i used it i gave it my all and it worked a little bit too well!! I now use it every time i wash my hair and with a little bit of serum it leaves my hair smooth and shiny and holds its style all day long. It really is a joy having proffesional salon looking hair all day long without the salon prices. i would recommend this to anyone who has flat boring hair. It makes the hair look thicker and full of volume. Definately worth the price.
Well what can I say about this product, except for fantastic!
Tigi Catwalk Root Boost, now rebranded as 'Tigi Your Highness Root Boost' claims to be spray for texture and lift and boy does it!
As someone with very fine hair, I need that extra bit of help to give me a bit of volume in my hair, so it actually looks like I have some. This would work well on medium to thick hair types as well to give that extra bit of Oomph! Would work very well if you were wanting to do the Beehive style.
Directions state that you should hold 2-3 inches from the root and spray, however I tend to find that this just gives you sticky and stiff roots! My best advice would be to spray this into your hands, rub them together and smooth through from root to tip. Then blow dry with a round brush for extra lift. Make sure you wash your hands after though as they will be a bit sticky!
Price wise, you're looking at about £10 for 250ml of this but 250ml has lasted me over 6 months and I use it daily so well worth the money!
I am going to start this review with a confession. I didn't buy this product I stole it from my boyfriend! But I promise I will buy the next one and reimburse him. You may think it's slightly odd that a bloke owns a product designed for longer hair but he looks like Russell Brand so that may clear up some confusion . He originally bought this product as he is a massive fan of the Mighty Boosh, and they have 'Root Boost' in that.
Anyway about the product........
Price and availability,
As mentioned before I didn't actually purchase this product but Tigi is widely available online, through hairdressers, department stores and online. The prices vary widely online for a 250ml can, the average price seems to be around £11 but I would strongly advise shopping around. £11 may seem expensive for a 'hairspray' but a little goes along way.
Tigi Root Boost comes in a metallic deep blue 'hairspray type' can, although it does not spray like hairspray. It has a nozzle which dispenses the product like a mousse. It's a difficult mechanism to explain- to me it's like a can of furniture polish.
The can has white/silver tone writing that gives details of the product, instructions for its use and has the signature Tigi branding. The product has the look of salon quality and looks expensive.
Tigi Root Boost is a mousse like product designed to provide 'texture and lift'. It is recommended that you apply to towel dried hair and spray into the root area then style as usual. I have been using this product as directed and have found that it does provide extra volume and lift around the root area, really handy when you're going for the bed head look. My hair is really heavy and it is sometimes difficult to get it do anything but sit straight and flat to my head. This is one of very few products that can counteract the heaviness of my hair and give it some lift.
The product has a typical but nice smell. It smells a bit like apple but has that chemical hairdresser smell. This isn't a bad thing; it makes you smell like you've just had your hair professionally done.
If you're after the beach hair look I run this product throughout the lengths of my hair and let it dry naturally and occasions go to bed with wet hair. When it's dry you're left with lovely natural waves. In fact I think I prefer to use it this way rather than the directed way.
I love this product. It's a top quality product that lasts a long time. It's a bit expensive but compensates for this with its lasting power and its versatility. It also looks nice on your dresser.
As a trainee stylist the first time I came across this product was when I was having my hair done in the salon I work at. I have quite a lot of hair but it tends to be very flat and boring at the roots and I wanted a bit of lift and volume. You apply it to wet hair at the roots (I just part my hair on the crown of my head in about 3 sections and apply down the centre) then comb through and dry as you normally would with the hairdryer. As you are drying it it is already noticeable that your roots have more lift and do not sit flat on your head. You can even excentuate this by combing upwards from the roots and drying the underneath for super lift.
Once hair is dry it looks like it has a lot more volume and bounce about it, and not to mention that it smells fantastic! Great product for either everyday use, or for when you are getting ready to go out for that bit more glam look.
A really good product that does what it says on the tin, i'll make sure I always have this to hand!
Do not apply too much as it can make your hair look greasy quite quickly.
I am always on the look out for that "wonder product" that will give life to my very limp very fine hair, so when I recently changed hair dressers and was offered this product to try, I though why not.
As with all Tigi products the packaging is simple but very bold and stylish. Root Boost comes in a 250ml bright blue spray can. It sprays quiet a concentrated spray so is easy to direct right into your roots, as a note of caution though I found that the can needed a very good shake before spraying or else the mouse comes out a bit liquidy. After combing through your hair you just style as normal.
The first thing I noticed about this product was its fantastic smell. It is very fresh and fruity and the smell lasts the whole time you're drying your hair - a great aid to waking up in the morning. The product is heat activated so it is important to blow dry your hair when using the product and not leave your hair to dry naturally.
The results were quiet good, my roots definitely had more volume than when using no product and the Root Boost gave my hair a great shine but I will be honest and say its not the best I have ever used.
Priced at around £12 it is good value for money. The 250ml can lasted me about two months using it every day and gave good results. Little bit of advice though, don't use too much as once or twice I over did it with the spray and found my hair a bit "crunchy" and hard, but overall a good little buy.
love Tigi's products....to be honest not because of what they do... or for the price (I can tell you that for sure), but for the smell.... The fragrance, the aroma... whatever you wish to call it. The smell is always fantastic and Tigi Catwalk Root Boost lives up to the glam lifestyle claim with a very light and fruity fragrance!
I bought this for the first time from my hairdressers as they try their best to sell me everything under the sun.... but I did fall at the knees for this product. You can buy it on most beauty websites or on the Tigi website itself http://tigihaircare.us/default.aspx?lang=en-UK
The original price for this is...£10.20 that's a lot of pennies... but many places offer what they call 'A HUGE saving!' where the prices vary from £7- £10... so definitely look around on various websites before you buy.
Now here is the science (Oh I think that is for another brand... so many to choose from it is easy to get confused!) But I do think that Tigi stands out from the crowd mainly due to its packaging. Root Boost is in a bright royal metallic blue bottle that sprays elegantly and easily. It looks great on any shelf in any bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen where ever you want it!!!!
Tigi's inspiration for the Catwalk range comes from fashion. Their attention to individual style is what Catwalk is all about.....Ultra texture, ultra hold, ultra looks...with Catwalk, you can create the luxurious personal style that makes you feel like a star. Just don't get carried away and buy the entire range as you probably won't need them
This particular product is a spray for texture, lift and style support for all types of hair. It SPRAYS out a liquid that then turn to a MOUSSE which adds maximum lift without making the hair heavy. I use it on my hair just after I have washed it so it gives my hair some Oomph.... And makes it smell tasty! You can also use it to keep styles in place as it also works like hair spray.
Main Directions (As Tigi explains)
Apply to clean, towel dried hair. Shake can well. Hold 2-3 inches from hair and mist into root area for extra lift and support. Comb through to ends for all over texture and volume. Style as desired.
So the main Features of TIGI Catwalk Root Boost:
* Look - big beautiful healthy looking hair
* Feel - voluminous
* Hair types - any hair length or texture
* Fragrance - light & fruity
* Details - adds maximum lift without heaviness creates dramatic dimension
I would definitely rate this product to try but maybe not buy.... If your friend already has it... grab a bit for those days when you want to look or feel a bit more glam or special. I think a normal good quality mouse would give you the same effect just without the lovely smell.

i had always wondered why so many women came into the salon and purchased this item. i didn't see anything that special about it. i was used to simple run of the mill products claiming to add volume and texture. after xmas i picked up a tigi gift pack including this wonder. i gave it a try, my expectations weren't too high. it has a nice citrus scent and sprays on with a precision applicator and milky liquid type foam. i spray it on at the roots and comb it thru out my hair. tho the volume is nothing too incredible, it was a nice lil lift and i loved the texture it gave me thru out my hair. for the most part i was very impressed. anyone expecting amazing volume will be disappointed as i found it does not give that, but for a lil lift and great texture, this product works great.
