Timotei Fresh & Strong Conditioner
Advantages: Smells nice, Cheap, Softens hair for a short while.
Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of, Makes hair greasy, Results aren't great.
When it comes to conditioners, I can be quite fussy. I have tried out many in the past that have been unsuccessful. I picked up this Timotei Fresh and Strong conditioner, hoping that it might do good things for my hair. Unfortunately, it has been quite a bad experience... Firstly, I will start in saying that Timotei products are now extremely hard to get your hands on - they might have been discontinued. You can no longer pick them up in Boots or supermarkets which is a shame. I got this from a local 99p store, so for 99p I thought this was a bargain and worth trying.
I have tried out some of Timotei's products in the past, and they are usually of a high quality so I was looking forward to using this. It comes in a 300ml bottle which is a good amount, and especially with conditioner as it means it lasts a good while. The conditioner itself is white in colour, and is of a good consistency. You do not need too much of this to cover the whole head, and I just tend to use about a 10p piece size as my hair is prone to product build up.
The first thing I noticed about this conditioner was its smell. I really like it, as it has an oriental and natural twist to it, and is a nice change from my usual fruity and sweet scents. When purchasing it, I had no idea what the smell would be like, but 'Fresh & Strong' seemed quite inviting. I was surprised when I saw the scent of this as I would have had no idea. It contains 100% natural ingredients sourced from the Alps. These are thyme flower and leaf extract, sage leaf extract and tarragon leaf and stem extract. This surprised me as they combine together to create a lovely, fresh scent which is perfect for the hair, and not too in your face.
To use this product is really simple, like all conditioners. Once in the palm of my hand, I rubbed this conditioner throughout all of my hair thoroughly. As my hair can get quite greasy at the roots, I try to focus the conditioner on the ends of my hair, as this is where my hair is most dry and tends to split a lot. This soaked into the hair really quickly, however I found it quite easy to spread the conditioner evenly in one go. I could tell from the use of it that it was not going to be a great conditioner.
There was a slight improvement in my hair once it had dried, and it did look and feel quite a bit softer than usual. However, within hours my hair had started to go quite greasy from this conditioner, despite only using a small amount. For my particular hair (oily), this was not great. It is recommended for people with normal hair types, so it might work better on you. Unfortunately, this just made my hair look more greasy and did not have any noticeable results which was a shame. I do have troubles when it comes to conditioners, and I have found that not many do tend to work for my particular hair. Therefore if you have quite oily roots, I would seriously recommend you avoid this conditioner. It is worth investing much more in a good one that trying out these bargain finds.
Overall, I was very disappointed with this conditioner, but it was to be expected with the price which I paid. The conditioner is okay, and I am sure it would work on other peoples hair, but I personally just found that it was not for me. This conditioner smells delicious, however is quite hard to find if you want to try it out. I would suggest that you do not though. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
Summary: Not a great conditioner.
