It seems like an age ago now that I had light brown/ dark blonde hair and even longer ago that I had blonde hair but when I did I was really keen on finding products that kept my hair shiny and bright emphasising highlights... but at an affordable cost. One of those products that did was Timotei Golden Highlights Shampoo

***Packaging***

The Golden Highlights shampoo from Timotei comes in a bright golden yellow plastic bottle. The lid is a more golden orange colour which flips shut. For the money the bottle is fine but because it is a block colour it is difficult to judge how much product is left inside. The plastic flip top lid is also quite flimsy which is fine for everyday use but if you are planning to put this into a travel bag then you are likely to suffer a product spillage.

The packaging states that this product is suited to those with blonde to light brown hair so brunettes this is probably not the product for you to emphasise highlights and the tones of your natural hair colour.

***Price***

A 400ml bottle of this costs £2.09 in Asda. For such a large bottle I think that this is very good value for money and this amount of shampoo used to last me around 6-8 weeks when used daily.

***Application***

As with most shampoos the directions for use are apply to wet hair, lather and then rinse. Very simple and easy to apply.

The product is a creamy golden colour with a golden shimmer to it. The shampoo is quite runny so comes out of the bottle very fast. A little bit of product goes a long way and the shampoo once applied to the hair creates a lot of lather. The product rinses out of hair very easily and feels very light and wet hair feels like it has no sticky residue left on it once rinsed.

The product has a very nice light scent. A clean camomile scent is apparent and I also feel the shampoo has a sweet scent very much like honey. When rinsed this scent can still be smelt on the hair but it is not at all overpowering.

***Results***

Once hair is dried it feels very clean soft and shiny . By no means is hair lighter however I felt my hair looked much brighter and shinier and as a result the lighter highlights in my hair were more apparent.

I found that when I had blonde highlights put into my hair my hair looked brighter for longer and in-between visits to the hairdressers the shampoo kept my highlights from looking dull which I found sometimes occurred between visits.

On my natural light brown hair I felt the shampoo brightened my hair as it looks so shiny so when I was under a light or out in natural sunlight it was much easier to see the natural lighter shades in my hair.

The condition of my hair also felt great. My hair felt soft and smooth and I was left with a clean feel and scent all day. Even if I did not wash my hair the following day I still felt confident my hair felt and looked clean which is not the case with some shampoos and it is essential to wash my hair daily.

***Overall***

This is a great product and would definitely recommend to those with natural blonde or (quite) light brown hair. After using this shampoo hair feels clean, light soft and shiny. Because hair appears much more shiny I feel that hair appears brighter and blonde highlights appear more noticeable.. whether this is natural or not so natural highlights.

Even better this is a very affordable price and much more effective than some of the more expensive salon branded products which claim to do the same to hair.

A great product at a great price which if I decide to go blonde again (or natural) then I will definitely be stocking up on!

Summary: A great product for emphasising highlights just don't expect miracles
