Advantages: relatively cheap, helps to promote natural looking highlights
Disadvantages: smell, dull-looking bottle
Being quite proud of the fact that I am a natural blonde, I regularly try different products to maintain the glossiness of it. After being given John Frieda blonde products for christmas, I was dismayed when I used the shampoo up within a month, even after using the bare minimum of it each time. However, I soon found a much cheaper alternative in Timotei's Blonde Shampoo. This isn't its actual name, but this is what I have christened it after inspection of the packaging failed to give any clues to what its 'official' name is. The blurb on the bottle promises that 86% of women tested noticed more visible highlights, and that the shampoo will lighten and condition your blonde hair, whether it's natural or not. The shampoo itself is a light beigey gold colour and actually has irridescent flecks in it which look gorgeous! It makes you think that by using this wonderful shimmering shampoo, your hair will also be a shimmering vision of blondeness. The shampoo lathers up very well, you really only need to use a bare minimum to wash your hair with. I've had my bottle for the last 3 months and its only just nearing the end of its life. Admittedly I do alternate it with other shampoos, but only about twice a week (and I wash my hair practically every day).It leaves your hair feeling squeaky clean and fresh and shiny. And I can honestly say that I have noticed more highlights around the front of my head, and they aren't the ones that I paid for! The artificial ones grew out about three months ago, so I know these must be natural, if slightly 'shampoo-enhanced' ones! Unfortunately, the smell lets it down slightly. It is not unpleasant in anyway whatsoever - it smells very clean and quite soapy. However, I quite like my shampoo to have some sort of scent to it, whether its coconut or something else, rather than just a 'shampoo' smell. So, very often I use a scented conditioner alongside the Timotei to add a s
mell to my hair, and this doesn't seem to affect the quality of shampoo at all. God, I sound like a monkey or something trying to attract a mate! Saying that, thats probably precisely why I do it! Anyway, carrying on...I bought my bottle from Bodycare but you can buy it in most places, e.g. Boots, Superdrug and supermarkets. I paid about 99p for my bottle, but I've seen it up to about £1.99 in other shops. I managed to convince one of my blonde friends at uni to try it and she agreed that it is good. I would say that it's just as good as the more expensive ones such as John Frieda, and is a fraction of the price. No blondes were harmed in the writing of this op.
