Advantages: Excellent value for money, Great for those with blonde / light brown / highlighted hair, Makes hair soft, shiny and in good condition

Disadvantages: As with all shampoos... it's not for everyone.

Timotei Golden Highlights range consists of both a shampoo and conditioner for blonde to light brown hair. Having recently had my hair highlighted, and, being very pleased with the results, I wanted my hair to look as shiny and sun kissed as the day I stepped out of the salon. I'd used Timotei shampoo / conditioner in the past, and had been happy enough with it, though I am continuously changing the shampoo I use - I tend to go for whatever looks new, is on offer, or just looks interesting! Timotei Golden Highlights was recently on a two for £2.00 offer, therefore I purchased both the shampoo and conditioner.

The Shampoo:
The shampoo bottle is a golden yellow colour, with the main image being of a camomile flower - the reason for this being that the shampoo contains extracts of camomile. The fact that it refers to it as 'sun kissed - camomile' on the bottle drew me in - I like the sound of 'sun kissed'!
The bottle claims that the product is suitable for natural, highlighted or coloured blonde to light brown hair... perfect for me then! A statement also claims that "The active power of nature brings you 100% natural beaty".

Before using the product I hadn't actually read all of the blurb on the back - after all, where can you go wrong using shampoo? As soon as I opened the bottle I could smell the contents. It definitely smells flowery - a nice sweet smelling scent, that presumably is the camomile. The colour of the product is also a golden gel, again reinforcing that golden highlights name. I found that it lathered up well, despite only using a little in my long hair. As I washed my hair I could smell the fragrance, which was actually quite relaxing. The shampoo rinsed out easily and left my hair feeling clean and smelling good.

The Conditioner:
As per the shampoo, the conditioner is in a golden yellow coloured bottle, and shares the same image of the camomile flower on the front of
the bottle. It advertises itself on the bottle as 'detangling cream' - this, I thought, would be excellent considering I have long hair that often is hard to comb through after being washed.
Again, the bottle claims that the product is suitable for natural, highlighted or coloured blonde to light brown hair. It also suggests that the conditioner is mild enough to use every day.

The scent of this product is very similar to that of the shampoo, and again, you can smell it on opening the bottle. The conditioner bears that same golden yellow colour, making washing your hair with all of this quite a sunny coloured experience! As I used the product I could certainly feel it smoothening my hair, and as I washed it out it felt very soft.

Whilst drying my hair I could still smell the scent of the shampoo and conditioner, although slightly fainter than in the bottle. My hair also looked and felt in great condition. I hadn't read it before I used the product for the first time, but on the reverse of the shampoo bottle it's stated that "86% of women have perceived highlights in their hair after product usage" (this was out of a consumer test of 245 women with blonde to light brown hair). My hair is already highlighted, but I can honestly say that after using the shampoo and conditioner I thought my hair looked as though it had only just been highlighted - the blonde and lightest brown parts looked brighter than they had before. Had I read the statement before I would have convinced myself that I was just falling for the sales talk, but as I noticed the difference in my hair before I even read that I would definitely agree with it and include myself in those 86% of women!

To conclude, I would most certainly buy this product again. At around £1.76 (current price at Tesco.com) for a 300ml bottle (and in particular as they are currently on buy-one-get-one-free at Tesco) this is a bargain! I find it leaves my ha
ir feeling healthier than some of the other far more expensive colour protecting shampoo's I've tried in the past. Although I'm the kind of person who never sticks with the same shampoo for long, I think that this is one I'll always have in my bathroom from now on, even if I do occasionally buy the odd 'posh' one for a change.

Worthy of 5 stars * * * * *
