Advantages: does what it claims, smells lovely

Disadvantages: Can irritate the scalp

I bought a bottle of this a while ago, I used to use Timotei back in the days of the advert having the very blonde woman and very white horse in it which was some time ago! I loved the smell and hadn't given it much thought until I saw this henna version.

Having quite a bit of red in my hair I thought this would be ideal for me so when it was on offer for a £1 a bottle in Superdrug I took advantage and bought some.

The bottle is a copper colour so you can easily spot it on the shelves. The shampoo itself is also this coppery colour and smells lovely, just as you expect Timotei products to smell, very fresh and clean.

I used it one night and asked the opinion of my partner as to whether it had made a difference and he said he thought it had, it had brought some of the coppery tones to my hair out and he liked it, so did I.

Until a few hours later. I found it irritated my scalp, made me itchy and my scalp felt a bit prickly. I wasn't 100% sure if the shampoo was to blame so decided to try it again once more to check.

The second time it had exactly the same effect so I washed my hair with normal shampoo and concluded I couldn't use it.

I was a bit miffed about this but having since seen in the news some people get skin burns from having henna tattoos it's probably no surprise this can be a bit harsh. In fact if you were one of these people who react very badly to henna this shampoo could really cause some problems.

So unfortunately I can't use it even though it does do what it claims to do but if you were fine with henna this would really bring out any red tones in your hair.

Summary: Recommended if you can use henna without problems
