Advantages: Price, leaves hair soft and clean, smells nice

Disadvantages: None

Timotei is a brand that I don't buy very often. I almost always buy shampoo and conditioner when its on offer and this is a brand that I tend to think there are better options over. However, when I was running low on shampoo a while ago and was popping into Tesco quickly this was the only shampoo I could find on my budget. I wasn't concerned as I had used the Golden Highlights one before but this time this version wasn't available so I just got the Vivid Colour version.

The bottle contains 300ml of shampoo and the normal selling price for this is around £2, it is currently £1.99 in Superdrug so it is a reasonable price. When I bought it it was just £1 and this offer can often be found which is a bargain for a shampoo from a well known brand in my opinion.

The bottle is a simple, classic design and is predominantly white in colour with a dark green lid and Timotei branding also in green. There is a large picture of the ingredients used in the product which is helpful because if you are a fan of fruity fragrances or floral fragrances then you can immediately see that this is going to tick the boxes.

You use the shampoo exactly the same as you would any other. You simply wet your hair. Pour some of the product into your hands, massage into your hair and rinse out. I usually use loads of shampoo, I don't know why but usually the size of 4 50p pieces! However, last night I decided to use a minimal amount just to see what the difference was.

The product is a pretty pink colour. It's a sort of peach/pink and looks nice. The shampoo lathers up really well and a gorgeous aroma is released that I really love. It has a berry and floral kind of scent and the bottle tells me that it is "a recipe enriched in acai oil, camellia extract and rooibos leaf extract, with nurturing ingredients". I find the shampoo really easy to rinse out of my hair, it's a quick and simple job and I never miss any.

I usually leave my hair to dry naturally and I am impressed with the drying time it takes with this shampoo. I have thick long hair which has been known to still not be completely dry in 5 hours but this shampoo leaves me with dry hair within a couple of hours usually.

My hair always feels really clean after using this. It looks clean and has a nice shine to it though its not especially shiny. I find that it doesn't make any difference on how much shampoo I use regarding cleanliness however, if I use more the scent remains on my hair for 12 hours or so afterwards and when using a little this is not the case with the scent nearly gone by the time my hair is dry.

The shampoo leaves my hair feeling manageable which is a big bonus for me as my hair can be a nightmare. I've also noticed that I have a lot less frizz since using this shampoo and my hair looks a million times better now if I just wash it and leave it than it did previously.

There is a matching conditioner for this shampoo which I do own however, if I am washing my hair in the bath I tend to just use the shampoo. The conditioner works well with the shampoo and leaves your hair smoother but I think the shampoo also does a very good job alone and does provide me with some of the qualities that conditioners do like leaving my hair soft, smooth and manageable.

This shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean for longer than previous shampoos have and my hair never feels as though it needs freshening or washing. My colour has remained bright so I do think that it helps to retain your colour. I imagine this shampoo would work well for those with colour that fades quickly such as red.

The bottle size is 300ml so this shampoo lasts between 20 and 30 washes in my opinion if you use a 50p sized amount. For £1 I think this is brilliant value!

I really like this shampoo and will certainly be buying it again. If possible I will probably go for the Golden Highlights version because I have blonde hair however this shampoo is extremely good for me too and I have had no complaints. Definitely recommended.

Summary: Brilliant shampoo, recommended
