Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo
by jeanclifford
Sometimes it is much quicker to use a two in one shampoo as it saves having to take in two bottles into the shower, especially if you are in a hurry, like I am sometimes. One of the ones I have used most recently has been an old fashioned brand that you don't hear very much about these days, called Timotei 2 in 1 shampoo and ... conditioner. My shampoo is in a large sized 250ml plastic bottle and I only paid £1 for this in one of the cheaper shops.
This shampoo is advertised as being pure because it has not silicone in it or anything else artificial such as colours or parabens we hear so much about these days. This is a shampoo which is designed to be very gentle on your hair and to care and nourish it. It also contains 100% natural organic tealeaf extract from green tea, which is also meant to be good for the hair.
The shampoo is to be used just the same as any others but the difference with this shampoo is that you only need to use a very little amount. The colour is quite clear and it has a gentle soft smell which isn't at all strong. It lathers up quickly on my wet hair and it rinses off again nicely when I am ready to get out of the shower. I will rarely have to wash my hair twice when I use this shampoo as it makes my hair clean straight away, also my hair is quite short and I have never found it necessary to have to wash my hair twice as most bottles of shampoo recommend.
This two in one shampoo doesn't drag my hair down and leave it feeling lip and lifeless as some of these two in one treatments can do. This just leaves my hair feeling soft and clean and in lovely condition after I have used it. It doesn't make the roots greasy and it keeps the ends well moisturised and nice and hydrated.
It's very good value for money because it saves having to buy a separate conditioner. It's one of the better two in one shampoos I have used and I really like it. Read the complete review |

Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo
by northernlovely
I have a quick shower every morning, but as I'm usually rushing for work or trying to keep my toddler out of trouble, time is of the essence, and I like to keep it to around a minute (saves water too!) for that reason I tend to use 2 in 1 shampoos often, and don't have a huge amount of brand loyalty, though I do tend to go for the same ... shampoos if I see them at the right price.
Case in point: Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo. I pretty much always buy my shampoo in Poundland or in the supermarket when it's on offer, and this Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo is often in there. This is for a 250ml bottle, which has an RRP of £1.99 so over time it's quite a saving.
Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo is presented in an off white bottle with a cream lid and the Timotei logo to the front, much different from the green teardrop shaped Timotei bottles I remember as a child! There is a leaf on the front - this is due to the claim that it contains 'Infused with 100% natural organic green tea leaf extract'. It's 'Pure' due to the fact it has ' 0% silicones, parabens and colourants' (ie, it's natural care for your hair).
All I know is that Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo builds up a good lather from a fairly small amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand - a lovely white creamy lather which is easy to wash long hair in. It has a light scent, mainly just soapy to my nose, which I don't mind as I don't want overly perfumed hair! It rinses off well leaving lovely squeaky clean hair, which is indeed both shampoo clean and conditioner soft and tangle free.
When dried (I generally give it a quick blast with the hairdryer) my hair is soft and shiny and my scalp nice and soft (harsher shampoos give me a dry scalp which can result in flaking) and I put that down to the natural elements in Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo. It's one of the best 2 in 1 shampoos I've used, and whenever I do see it on offer I get 2 bottles as I get through it quite quickly. It's also great for the gym or for travel because obvously you're only carrying one bottle. I'm not saying it's not worth the RRP - it's a great shampoo - but when you can get it on offer so easily then why not make the saving?
Overall I highly recommend Timotei 2 in 1 Pure Shampoo, it's a great 2 in 1 and well worth buying. Five stars out of five, my hair is happy! Read the complete review |

Timotei Shampoo
by Tolteca
I have been and remain engaged in Project Reduce The Toiletries Stash in my bathroom. This has built up over many years - seriously, this week I retrieved two Molton Brown goodie bags and a Boots Box from a top shelf which must have been there since last century.
This shampoo had not been in the stash any where near so long. ... It is one my mum gave me - because the last thing I needed even when she gave it to me was even more shampoo. But as a good daughter, I took it. Because the bottle is so big and using up smaller bottles was, to be honest, more satisfying, it got to live in a bathroom cupboard for several years.
This was probably unfair on it.
Timotei is one of those multi-national company products - in this case, Unilever - which used to be widely sold in a wide range of varieties here. It is nowadays more sold and the varying products in the range are avavailble more widely abroad, especially in Europe. I know that the lasts time I bought Timotei was in Spain as it was the brand of champu I recognised.
There is a reason for that brand recognition - the Timotei girl ads with a girl with an irritating penchant for washing her hair anywhere and everwhere. I wash mine in the bathroom and only very, very occasionally under waterfalls or in tubs of water, so this was not a main selling point for me. I also tend to prefer non-irritating of my sensitive scalp combined with ethical production for my shampoos.
But I also hate waste and this bottle was staring at me each time I opened that cupboard. So it got to come out and play. And despite its long lay-over in the stash, it showed itself to be a good, effective and pleasantly fragranced shampoo.
The one mum gave me and so the one I am reviewing is the Oat Milk and Peach Softening Shampoo. I do love the smell of peach and this is the dominant note in the fragrence of this shampoo. The oats are not an ingredient I tend to associate with shampoo, though they did seem to work in softening my hair - as well as driving me to the kitchen cupboard for some oatcakes with cheese!
The white shampoo is quite thick coming out of the bottle but exits from the flip-top bottle easily enough. It lathers very well in wet hair and smells lovely both on the hands and the hair while going on. The scent lingers pleasantly on the hair despite rinsing, though not so much on the hands. The lather is good enough even on my mid-length hair that I could possibly get away with one go followed by a rinse. I always do two lather-rinse cycles though and this shampoo did a cracking job of cleaning my hair.
After drying, it left my hair soft, shiny and looking healthy even without using a conditioner. I usually use one but for the purpose of reviewing the product I though it fairer to give it go on its own.
It did not let me down.
Though Uniliver's marketing has. It does not seem to be available in this variety in the shops anymore, though it can sometimes be found on ebay, sometimes at silly prices. Which is a shame, as such a good and formerly reasonably priced shampoo should be more widely available. In the meantime, I will use my existing bottle up, which considering that the bottle is a generous 400ml size, will last me a long time.
Thanks, mum. Read the complete review |
