Advantages: Smells like fresh cut grass

Disadvantages: Not enough froth for me

My hair is quite fine and tends to get greasy quickly, so I was interested to spot this new brand in Boots, and in particular this Sage & Basil variety which is for 'oily and confused' hair and scalp! I'm not sure if I'm confused(?) but I'm certainly oily. The thing which attracted me most to this product despite the hefty £5.50 price tag was the beautiful smell. I've used 'natural' and 'herbal' shampoos before but nothing that smells as green and leafy as this one. It really was like inhaling a herb garden - grassy and refreshing.

I used this like a normal shampoo, lathering a small squirt through my hair. It didn't lather particularly well, which I always find a bit disappointing as it makes my hair tangly to rub it, but I have heard that shampoos don't need to lather well to do a good job, so never mind.

When I rinsed it, it rinsed out really quickly (perhaps due to the lack of lather) and left my hair really squeaky clean. Some people might complain about this but I like it as it feels like it's been properly cleaned. I used the matching conditioner but will review that separately! Once I had dried my hair, it looked clean and shiny, but I wouldn't say any better than my usual Herbal Essences. It did feel soft and not dried out though, and wasn't flyaway or static-y. However, it did stay looking clean until the next day, which is unusual for me so it must have indeed cleaned my hair really well. And I could still smell the lovely scent for hours - definitely a bonus.

I'm kind of torn about this shampoo - the smell almost cancels out the lack of lather, but I'm not sure the results justify the price! Only for those with really oily hair, anyway.

Summary: OK for a treat
