This product is made by Toni & Guy and is part of the casual range. The particular product I am reviewing is a sculpting powder that helps to combat grease and create volume and shape with a matte finish. I have used sculpting powders before to help give my hair some volume but I didn't really get on very well with the last product I purchased. I didn't actually plan on buying this when I went to my local Boots store as I was buying another product in this range. How-ever as I browsed the range this caught my eye so I thought I would buy it and give it a go to see if it worked. I often read good reviews and Toni & Guy products so I was sure that this product was worth the money (I was hoping anyway). The micro-fine powder creates volume & body which is great for achieving a laid back look. It has a weightless texture and absorbs instantly into the hair leaving it bouncy and full of texture.
The Sculpting Powder comes in a box which is blue in colour and has Toni & Guy clearly in white bold lettering. The powder is part of the Casual styling range. On the front of the box it states that the product it is and that you get 1g of powder in the container. On the back of the box it tells you a little about the product and how to use it. You can also find some tips and a list of ingredients as well. I opened the box and took out the tube which holds the powder. The tube is a blue colour to match the box and it has the same information on as the box which is handy as you don't really need to keep the box. There are 4 small holes in the top of the tube which are covered and it looks like a twist top which you need to twist to open the holes ready to dispense the powder. The tube that holds the powder feels very light and doesn't feel as though there is anything in there, how-ever powder is very light anyway so I wasn't worried about this.

I purchased the product from my local Boots store for £7.19 which was pricey, how-ever I thought it was worth spending the money on a Toni & Guy product, and I had high hopes of this product and hopes that it would work as well as it stated on the packaging.
Using the Product

Dust directly at the roots of dry hair and scrunch through with fingers or work through the lengths and ends of an up-do for texture and light hold. Or for extra lift, sprinkle Tony & Guy Casual Sculpting Powder on the crown before backcombing. I twisted the top of the tube open to reveal 4 small holes in which the powder comes out. I gently shook the powder above my head ensuring that that the powder dropped onto the roots. As the powder is very light, I find that it does tend to float away from the roots a little. You do need to apply the powder in a room with no draft otherwise the powder tends to blow everywhere. The powder isn't white but is more of a grey colour and isn't actually that easy to see when shaking the tube to dispense some the product onto your hair. After shaking some of the powder onto my roots, i tend used my fingers to ruffle my hair a little and to help give my hair some lift and volume. I then used a comb to backcomb it a little to help with some further volume. After using my fingers to help work the powder into my hair there was a slight residue on them, it wasn't sticky but felt a little strange. After ruffling my roots with my fingers and back combing my hair a little my hair had noticeably more volume than it had done before. My hair rdidn't look as though it had any product in and it looked clean and fresh. Although there was a residue feel on my fingers from the powder, there was no actual residue on my hair that you could see. I also felt my hair, and it didn't feel sticky or stiff and felt like normal, like I hadn't put anything in it. I went to town and hoped that the volume in my hair would last. I would check the results on my return from town.
It wasn't windy outside just a bit chilly, and I thought at least if it wasn't raining or windy this would give me a good indication as to whether the product is long lasting or not. I was in town for a good few hours, before returning home and looking in the mirror at my hair. Although there wasn't a smuch volume as there was in my hair when I left the house, there was still a lot more volume than what there would normally be when not using this product. My hair still looked clean and fresh and I simply ruffled my fingers through my hair and the volume soon came back. I did notice that my head was a little itchy after applying the sculpting powder, which must be from the powder, how-ever I wasn't scratching like mad and it didn't look like I had headlice which was good thing.

In terms of value I think the product is quite pricey, how-ever I would expect this from a Toni & Guy product anyway. The product does work on my hair, and I think it would probably need a bit more styling in order for the style to last a bit longer. Admittidly I did apply the powder in a bit of a rush so if I had spent more time styling my hair after applying the powder I think the results would have lasted much longer. I loved the fact that the product didn't leave any residue in my hair and it left it looking clean and refreshed. The product doesn't have a smell or scent to it, how-ever this didn't bother me, so long as it didn't make my hair look greasy or dull I didn't really mind that the product didn't smell. I would only really use the product when going out for a night out or maybe during the day at the weekends. I wouldn't apply the product to my hair when going to work as I always tend to dress very casual at work anyway with no make up. As I would only use this product once or twice a week, I think it will last me a good few months before I need to purchase it again. I am taking 2 stars off the product as it did make my head itch a little and the style didn't last as I hoped it would. I also think this product is quite pricey as well considering it doesn't work as well as expected.
