Advantages: Leaves hair glossy.
Disadvantages: Doesn't dry instantly.
I have recently been using a lot of Toni and Guy products that I got free from BzzAgent (a website group that lets you try products in return for your opinion of them). I decided to get this Toni and Guy Finishing Shine Spray when I was out shopping as I thought it might compliment the other products I have been using. The product was also on offer and only cost me £2.99 - a massive saving for a brand that usually charges around £6-8 per product.
The product comes boxed and inside is a large, heavy glass bottle. The bottle is 100mls or 3.3 US Fl. Oz in size so it is about medium sized. Due to the weight of the bottle and it's fragility though this is not something you'd want to carry in a handbag or pack for travelling.
The bottle has a large silver plastic top which is very secure. Underneath it has a metal style pump spray the same as a perfume bottle. The bottle is printed with product information, directions for use and full ingredients. There is also some contact details for the Toni and Guy brand in the UK.
Toni and Guy call this the perfect "style finisher" and say it gives a "light, dazzling sheen" to "sleek, straight styles". I actually have wavy hair and I hadn't known this spray was aimed at straighter styles before reading the 'small print' only AFTER I'd bought it! However, I have been using it regardless on my curls and also have tried using it after working my hair straighteners.
To use this you have to shake the bottle then hold about 8 inches away from your hair. 2-3 sprays is sufficient to cover the whole head since the spray is dispensed in a fine, ballooning mist. The spray has a sharp, strong fragrance which smells like sugar candy. It's a clear, watery consistency and does not feel sticky. I do find it can tend to feel quite wet on the hair - it doesn't dry instantly.
The spray has the effect of making hair look glossy but be careful because if you use too much spray your hair can start to look a bit lank. The spray does tend to make the hair look heavier and move or swing a little less than it would normally. I would not describe the effect as "sparkling" as is suggested by the product name. It has more of an oily look and is similar to the effects of a heavy duty serum.
The product's effect is to leave hair looking a little glossier and more conditioned and healthy. This is quite good for hair like mine which is a bit on the dry side. The product does not provide any hold though. It can be used to good effect with other products to create an overall look. I have used this to complete my look on my dry hair after first using Toni and Guy serum during the drying process. Howver when used on my straightened hair it is so wet initially that it does tend to kink my hair back into a slight wave, unfortunately! However, the glossy effect works on wavy hair too.
I think this finishing spray is quite good although for me it has about the same effectiveness as a serum you apply to dry hair. It's also very similar to a John Frieda product - the Ease Serum Finishing Spray Glossing Mist. I would probably buy this again if I could get it at a cheap price.
