Advantages: Can give a shiny effect, the greasiness gves your hair grip to backcomb it.

Disadvantages: Very greasy and heavy, unsuitable for longer hair.

This product is more for short hair, or curly hair, as I found it very heavy and greasy.

Comment on the company
---------------------------------
Toni&Guy is a well known and internationally respected hairdressing company founded in 1963 in London. There are over 400 hairdressing salons, an in-salon TV channel, a magazine and a range of hair products. Toni&Guy are an edgy fashionable hair company with many salons on the high street it is not an exclusive salon, although you may find some of their prices a little higher than cheaper hairdressers you may find locally, though the hairdressers tend to be more trained and with more experience.

Text on the product
-------------------------
'TONI&GUY Funky Gum for flexible separation with shine 25ml 0.84 US Fl.Oz. Warnings: Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs rinse immediately with water.'

Packaging
-------------
Comes in a basic looking tin, which suggests the product is no nonsense with fancy packaging and is all about the product's good quality. It is a small circular tin pot with a rim around the lid painted in a bright red colour, signature to the company. The text 'TONI&GUY Funky Gum' is in a silver more bolder font, whilst the other text is in black. The lower case simple font which is used also suggests a no nonsense yet modern and fashionable product. Although I bought it in a 25ml tin, which I think is supposed to be a little travel one, you can buy a much larger one at 75ml though I wouldn't advise it, as the product last for ages, you hardly use a lot as it tends to be greasy so the little tin will last a good couple of months or so! The tin has been in my handbag and bashed about and there are some dents in the tin and paint has worn off some of the edges, though not too badly.

The Consistency and Appearance of the Product
------------------------------------------------- ------------
The gum itself is of a thick gloopy consistency and is very runny. When you use some and leave the rest of the product with some taken out, it seems to run back together and fill the container pretty much straight away, though it is still thick. It runs off of your finger when you take some and looks very glossy. It is an off white creamy colour. It smells nice, but not overbearingly perfumed, it is a smell that does remind you of the hairdressers, unsurprisingly.

The effect it has on your hair
-------------------------------------
When using this product I found it to be very greasy, it is not good for someone with longer hair or with long layers. I like to wear my hair messy and it is mid length with short layers, so I only use a little bit, but probably would've benefited more with a matte gum. Do not buy if you have long hair as it will look extremely oily and become knotty as it is quite thick. It would probably be good to use on curls if you are going for a wetter look with more definition, but be prepared for a shiny finish. My advise is to only use a little bit. It also weighs down your hair a lot so if your going for a volumised look, you may want to back comb and hairspray too. An advantage to the greasiness of the product, I found, was that it made my hair easy to back comb bigger as there was some grease in it for my hair to get hold of.

Price
------
I bought the smaller 25ml pot in boots for £1 as it was on offer which is a great price for a Toni&Guy product. At the moment the product is £1.95 on boots.com, and £6.99 for the larger 75ml size.

Summary: This product is hard to use as using a little too much can give greasy effects.
