Toni & Guy Funky Gum

Toni & Guy Funky Gum

Advantages: Lovely texture, somewhere between gel and wax.
Disadvantages: Needs hairspray to keep the style all day.
I bought this product about a year ago when I got the back of my hair cut short, so I could spike it out. Since then my hair has grown out so I stopped using it, however a couple of weeks ago I got a pixie cut style haircut and have brought it back out of the drawer.
THE COMPANY
Toni&Guy are seen as a "funky" company, aimed at a young trendy audience as opposed to the creepy guy over the road with his hair slicked back. The majority of the range are Unisex products, which I think is great. Toni&Guy are connected to fashion quite frequently, being on of the predominate names for styling the models hair.
APPEARANCE
I have the sample size of this product (25ml) however the design is exactly the same as the one in the photo. A red metal tub with a pull off / push on lid. I love the fact that it is red because a lot of my beauty and hair products are black (I am a MAC and Tresemme fan) so this is easy to spot and pick out on a morning. Also it fits in with the Unisex nature of this range as red is an appealing yet neutral colour.
THE NAME
The name of this product is "Funky Gum" and I like it as it is well suited to the Tony&Guy image with the word "funky" bringing up connotations with young, modern hairstyles. Meanwhile "Gum" sounded pleasant, because it sounded as though it would be less runny and messy than gel, but not as solid as wax. It might just be me but "Gum" has quite a young feel to it as well.
THE STYLE
I tend to spike my hair up a little on top, not to the point that I look like I had an accident with a plug socket, but enough so my hair might be deemed "funky". This product helps me achieve the look that I am looking for 9/10 days (we all have that bad hair day ... right?). The only downside being that due to the weight of the product, the style can droop after a couple of hours, so I tend to spray on some "Tresemme Ultimate Hold Hairspray" to keep the style in place.
THE SCENT
My favourite thing about this product is the scent, if I wear this product then I don't bother about perfume, because it has a strong pleasant scent that lasts all day. While I boast that Toni&Guy do a Unisex range, I would say this scent is more on the feminine side than the masculine side but I do think many men will enjoy the scent. I can only describe it as the smell of "Toni&Guy".
THE PRICE
Considering Toni&Guy are a leading hairstyling company in the market and their products are generally considered to be quite expensive, I think this product is reasonably priced. I have the 25ml size and it retails at £1.95 on the Toni&Guy website, Boots and Superdrug however the 75ml size is nearly £6.95 so I would advice buying the smaller sizes because they work out over £1 cheaper.
Summary: It works out better value for money to buy the 25ml sizes rather than the larger 75ml size.
