      Very helpful

A reasonably priced shampoo which provides shine and volume to my hair

Up until the age of 19 I had never had my hair highlighted. When I was 19 I had it done three times. It looked lovely for a while but due to the VERY dark colour of my hair, the lightening process had dried it terribly. Never before had I experienced knots or dry ends. Just over a year later I have salvaged my original hair colour but still it lacks its natural sheen, so after trying several (brilliant) products in the Toni & Guy range and then spotting Shine Addiction I knew it had to be mine.

      SHINE ADDICTION ‘Shimmering Silk Shampoo’

Fellow Boots addicts may well recognise this packaging already, having eyed it up whilst wandering around the hair care aisles! It’s a tall slim clear matte plastic bottle (looks pale blue because of the shampoo’s colour) with minimal product info down the side and instructions on the back. It is a tall 300ml bottle with a silver top that you press at one side to reveal a hole on the other. You’d be hard pushed to dislike it: it’s both stylish AND functional.

The top couldn’t be easier to operate in the shower; it can even be done one-handed! The shampoo itself is not *too* thick in consistency and very pale blue in colour. It doesn’t really have any discernable smell – just clean and fresh - which could be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on what other fragrances you like to wear on your body/hair. You will need to adjust the amount you use to your hair length. My hair is quite long but I still don’t need to use too much as it produces a rich, thick lather. I probably use a blob just bigger than a 50p coin.

When I shampoo I always make sure that I fully massage the product into all of my hair, but particularly the scalp because that’s where the dirt tends to build up. The shampoo rinses out without a struggle and my hair feels squeaky clean (yes, it actually squeaks!) but you can’t really feel the benefit of the product yet. You have to wait…

After applying my usual conditioner and blow drying my hair as I normally would I found that my hair looked a lot shinier. It reminded me of how it had looked a couple of years ago before I ever highlighted it. It has a brilliant shine to again, and it doesn’t look or feel like a ‘coat’ of shine from the shampoo’s residue but it actually looks like a natural shine that just hasn’t been revealed for a long time. It also feels like silk to the touch!

My hair can often go slightly limp, lacking volume, so I guessed that perhaps this treatment might make it shiny but at the same time a bit flatter. I was particularly impressed with the results because it did not flatten my hair in the slightest; it was shiny with a reasonable amount of volume.

This range is often on 3 for 2 in Boots so keep your eye out. Individually this product costs £4.99 which I guess is more expensive than regular shampoos but I bought it on my Advantage Card. Also bear in mind that it is a 300ml bottle and you wouldn’t HAVE to use it every time you wash your hair – you could save it as a treatment for when your hair’s just gone really dull! I have about four different shampoos that I alternate but I would estimate that the bottle may have about 40 washes in it.

I have been stroking my hair all day today because it is unusually soft. I don’t know what all this Sea Silk business is all about that they mention on the back of the container but it appears to work so I’m not about to question it! I think it’s great value for money and I think you’d have to be a fool not to try it ;)

      Highly recommended.
