I tried this on the recommendation of my hairdresser as she noticed that I was making appointments earlier to have my hair dyed as the colour seemed to be fading quite quickly. Although I had been using shampoo for coloured hair she suggested that I try the Colour stay shampoo.
The big disadvantage with this product is the price. It is a jawdropping £11.50 for 300 ml which in my opinion very expensive for shampoo and I was quite sceptical of the effects of something that doesn't stay in my hair for very long and get washed out. If you shop around online you may be able to get it for around the £9 mark. The larger bottle is better value for money as Amazon at the time at writing this review are selling it for £20 for 1000ml. Worthwhile to search online before buying.

To my surprised I have to admit that my colour is holding for longer. Even on the ends which in my case tend to lighten up quite quickly. I find the shampoo does a good job of moisturising my hair and it is in better condition than when I first started using the shampoo. In addition I have had far less fading than with my previous shampoo.
Caveat : to be fair I had been on holiday prior to using the shampoo so my hair had had a tough time with salt water and sunshine.
The shampoo is pearlised and has a pleasant smell that reminds me a little of bananas although not too strongly. You don't need a lot of it and it foams up well and as a result I only shampoo once rather than twice as some people recommend.
The packaging is a nice sleek black with white writing. It does look a luxury product - which helps deter my other hand from borrowing it. At this price I would expect it to look good on my bathroom shelf.
I am growing my hair so it is past my shoulders and the ends can become dry. Since using the shampoo it is shinier and the colour has not bleached out from the ends. Normally I would be on the phone making an appointment to have it dyed again but now I can hold out for an extra week. I have a few special occasions coming up so am glad I made the change although not sure if I would buy the shampoo all the time.
So overall would I buy it again? Well it does make my colour last longer so saves me money having it dyed more frequently but I still am fairly loathed to spend over £10 on shampoo. I think if you have s special occasion that you want your hair to look good for then it would be worth buying. I intend to use it up and get my hair into a good condition then will think carefully before buying it again.
4 stars as exensive.
