Advantages: Reasonably priced, smells nice, doesn't flatten hair

Disadvantages: It doesn't detangle hair if's really dry

I’m sure almost 90% of women have either one of the three things this conditioner is designed for: dry, damaged or coloured hair. Myself, I have all three! Well, it’s not too bad most of the time but it is definitely coloured, so when I saw Toni & Guy on offer in Boots a while ago I snapped this up.

WHAT IS IT?

Toni & Guy Mega Depth conditioner is supposed to seal damaged cuticles helping prevent frizz, dehydration and damage to the hair. Helps protect from colour fade. An advanced salon-tested formula to leave hair stronger, healthy-looking and more manageable.

MEGA DEPTH

I have lots of shampoos and conditioners because I like to change around to avoid build up of one product. However, this is my ‘main’ conditioner that I use a couple of times a week. Like the rest of the Toni & Guy range this conditioner comes in a metallic looking sachet, much like a Capri-Sun drink. It has a flip up cap which is easy to flip, even with wet hands.

After using my ‘main’ shampoo (Toni & Guy Insights, Shine Addiction) I squeeze quite a generous amount of this out. I think the sachet is a great design for this product because it squeezes out in exactly the right amount. I normally slap a bit on one half of my head (avoiding the scalp and roots) and smooth it in then do the other because this is fairly thick and sometimes you end up dropping some if you’ve got too much. I find the smell quite pleasant – it’s not at all fruity if any blokes wanted to consider using it! It smells like something they would use in a salon (you can always have a test smell in Boots before buying!) My sister has a perfume called Gucci Rush and it smells identical to that.

It smoothes in really nicely and distributes itself well if you keep putting your finger through your hair – or use a wide toothed comb. It does say that you can rinse straight away but if I’ve got a couple of minutes to spare I’ll leave it on whilst doing other things. Rinsing it out is as easy as any other conditioner and doesn’t leave the shower floor slippery.

RESULTS

After blow drying my hair in the same way as I usually would I find that my hair looks like it’s in a reasonable condition. It is slightly less knotty than when I use some other things and it looks quite shiny. Plus a very important point for me – it doesn’t leave my hair too limp or flat, which can be a problem with some richer conditioners. It doesn’t dirty my hair any quicker than usual, which is great.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

It is hard to say how long this conditioner would last if you used it every time you washed your hair but mine seems to have lasted well even though I use it the most, and I have long hair. It costs £2.29 for 250ml which I think is pretty cheap. I think this range is exclusive to Boots, and they often have all Toni & Guy products on 3 for 2.

VERDICT

It’s by no means a miracle worker but I do like the fact that I can use it a couple of times a week and it doesn’t flatten my hair or make it dirty quicker. I would consider buying it again on offer but then I might like to try something else in the range because there are quite a few to choose from.

Summary: A reasonably priced conditioner which keeps hair in good condition and doesn't flatten too much

A comprehensive review, my noodles were bought from Tesco not Safeways (my local store has closed down). Domestic problems are causing havoc, accept my apologise.
