Advantages: Cleans well, strengthens and softens

Disadvantages: Normal price of £5.99 is a bit steep

I'm normally a budget shampoo kind of girl, but recently my hair's been looking a bit tired and frazzled (it's fine but breaks easily and gets weak and split). This coincided with Boots having an offer on all Toni & Guy products at 3 for £10. This was a really good deal as this shampoo normally retails at £5.99 for a 200ml bottle and many products are even more, so I couldn't resist and snapped up the shampoo, conditioner and styling spray (reviews of these to follow)...

This is a moisturising shampoo and claims to 'give dry, brittle hair improved strength and vitality'. It comes in a matt silver-coloured bottle with bright pink logo and writing, and a pump dispenser covered by a translucent cap. At 200ml the bottle is a comparable size to other shampoos and looks very appealing on the shelf: it looks classy and 'high-end' and made me feel that the results would be worth the cost. The cap on the top was a bit tricky to get off the first time; however I threw it away rather than replacing it as the shampoo will just sit on my shower shelf now!

The pump action works very well and means you don't use too much of the product, however it did take about 6 pumps to get a 10p-size blob into my hand, so there's no danger of getting carried away. It has the usual Toni & Guy smell which is hard to describe but smells clean and professional rather than flowery - I find it a pleasant fragrance. The shampoo lathers really easily into wet hair and makes loads of froth, which I like. It's easy to distribute and is neither too thick nor too runny. I then rinsed it out under the shower, which was quick and easy and did not leave any residue. At this point I could already feel that my hair, while still wet, was softer and less 'squeaky' than it usually is after shampooing.

I used the matching conditioner and was very pleased with the results. Normally I get bored of a shampoo after a few uses and move onto something else; however I've stuck with this as the longer I use it the better my hair feels. It is soft and silky but not greasy, which for me is the holy grail of shampoo! It has much more life and shine and I feel like I'm doing my hair good. So I'll be sticking with this and recommend it wholeheartedly.
