Advantages: Smells lovely, leaves hair soft and manageable, isn't colour stripping.

Disadvantages: Difficult to evenly apply through hair, makes no real difference to damaged or dry hair.

My hair has taken quite a battering during the process of getting it blonde and, as a result, I've been buying and trying a number of different hair products of late to try and restore it back to its healthy condition (hair care moving up to level 1 has come at quite a good time for me)!

One product I decided to try was this Toni & Guy Nourish Reconstruction mask. I actually bought this one before lightening my hair thinking that if I just covered my hair in this after lightening and dying it'd remain in decent condition. This 200ml pot of product cost me around £7 at the time from Boots although their website is now showing it for £4.79 (I'm not sure if it's just been knocked down in price or if online and instore prices are different though). I've never seen this for sale anywhere else but Boots either.

The mask comes in a circular pot with screw on lid, it's off white in colour and displays the Toni & Guy logo as well as product information. This is said to be a deep conditioning reconstruction mask which should be applied to wet hair and rinsed off after three to five minutes.

Unscrewing the lid reveals the white, thick and creamy mask which has a really nice and slightly fruity scent to it. To use this mask I simply scoop up a dollop in my hand and comb through my hair as usual as after shampooing.

I'd say my 200ml lasted me about seven applications which I don't think is much personally! I certainly seemed to use more of this than usual as I did find it didn't evenly coat my hair very easily. Never the less, once on I am left inhaling the really nice scent of the mask which was very relaxing and, I'm pleased to report, long lasting in the hair too. When it came to rinsing this off it was easily done. Although the mask felt a little heavy on my hair it came off with no problems and didn't leave my hair to continue feeling heavy after I'd rinsed it off.

Whilst the mask certainly did make my hair feel soft and tangle free I don't feel as though it did much reconstruction. It is a lovely conditioning product if you just want to maintain the condition of your hair rather than improve it but, for damaged hair, I think this is rather disappointing.

My hair still felt quite dry even after continuously using the mask once a week for the duration of the pot. No noticeable difference was made to my split ends and, although it did leave my hair soft, I've used cheaper alternatives which have left it feeling a lot softer. On the plus side, this isn't colour stripping like other similar products I've used and my hair was initially left feeling quite nice and very manageable. The lovely scent lingers in the hair for a couple of days too!

All in all this is a nice product if you have relatively healthy hair and just want to give it the occasional treat. For damaged hair, however, I wouldn't personally recommend this one and it doesn't seem to make any difference and, even at Boots lower price of under £5, I still think this is rather expensive for the results given.

Summary: Not very 'reconstructing' but not awful. Probably are just paying for the Toni & Guy name though!
